You know that feeling when you have had a long day, and you have to drive back home hungry because you didn’t eat anything, and everything worth eating is closed on your route? You pray and beg for some sort of culinary miracle. Tto Tto Wa is that culinary miracle! Ramyun, Korean Fried Chicken, seafood pancake, and more, served until … I know what your thinking surely his«one» key is not working, and he meant to write twelve am, right? WRONG Sucka«111111111111» See! The Food**** I ordered a bowl of Ramyum, and I got the pleasure of watching the cook make it right before my eyes, she was a kind looking korean lady who knew her way around a hot stone, I was a hungry Italian boy with an empty stomach, and nothing to lose. This was going to be an epic moment in history. As my bowl of Ramyun boiled over a hot fire, she added chopped carrots, onions, green onion, garlic, noodles, and spices… The broth sizzled, my mouth watered, and my eyes let out a tear… a single tear thinking of how painfully sad my night could’ve been, eating lesser food, my fate could’ve been left to a fast food chain… so I looked at the korean lady in the eyes as she handed me my bowl, and I said«Thank you.» Thank you from the bottom of my heart Tto Tto Wa, your spicy veggie ramyun cleared my nose, and warmed my heart. Tto Tto Wa is open until on weekdays, so that you can come here once you are kicked out of Mozart and continue studying, or out late doing something more than likely illegal at such Godforsaken hours.

Not a big fan of this place. We went in a big group and ordered fried chicken, spicy fried chicken, and stir fry sausage. The batter of the chicken has curry powder in it so it had a good depth of flavor but the chicken itself was not satisfying. It was not moist and based on the price level, it wasn’t worth it. Service was alright. We called for the lady and she looked at us and kept walking. Oh and did I mention? One of our friends found TWO pieces of hair. Not my place to go in Dallas for some good Korean fried chicken

Not a bad restaurant. They have semi-private tables. It was my first time here or in any Korean private dining. I thought it was pretty neat. The food: I guess their chicken wings are their main sellers. We had original plain and the spicy with sauce on top. Both were really crispy and delicious. We also had the cheese corn, which was really good as well. We tried to order the clam soup, but they were out of soup paste. The fried chicken gizzard was good, but my friend said it tasted mostly like fried flour. We also ordered the seafood pancake. Im allergic to shrimp, so we tried picking out the shrimp. To our surprise their were only 2 pieces. Lol. Not sure if that’s a good thing? And lastly the yogurt sochu was pretty good. It came in a tea kettle. Lol. Nice touch. Overall good late-night eat. I think they’re open till 2AM most days. Not exactly 4 stars, maybe 3.7. I liked it, will return.

I went here with high expectations, so that may be why I was disappointed. The chicken wasn’t crispy, but it was flavorful. I REALLY wanted to order the budae jjigae, but they only have a gigantor portion available. Which I can’t eat alone(bf is white)…I really need some Korean friends. Will I drive all the way over there just for Tto Tto Wa? No, but if I’m already in the area, I may stop by.

Tto Tto Wa serves Korean fried chicken and wings in a fast casual environment. For those of you that have never had it, Korean fried chicken is a totally different beast from a buttermilk fried chicken. The chicken are not dredged in excessive amounts of flour, so the impossibly crisp exterior appears to be nothing but skin. After being double fried, the chicken are lightly tossed in a sweet, spicy, garlicky glaze while still hot. This caramelizes the sauce on the surface of the chicken, preventing it from seeping in too deep, ruining the crispy shell. The resulting are fried chicken nirvana; moist savory chicken surrounded by a crackly crisp layer of skin, which incongruously co-exists with a glaze that’s the perfect blend of savory, sweet and spicy sauce with marshmallows or something look like marshmallows. Service is not best in the world but not bad either. Menu is in English and Korean. You order your food in the entrance where the kitchen is, then go to the indoor dining area. Go give it a shot. Really good tasty spot.

it’s a really nice small family restaurants. clean setting and convenient location of tv for sports watching while eating their delicious chicken wings! when they say 5 pieces on the menu. it’s not 5 pieces. maybe 10 maybe 8 but it is way more than enough for one skinny Asian girl. my favorite is the sauce that they made the chicken in. it’s amazing. even though it is deep fried it is not oily or greasy in any way. they also give you a small plate of marinated radish to clean off the spicy flavor from the chicken. RICECAKE! DEEPFRIEDRICECAKEINCHICKENSAUCEEEEE. I steal my boyfriend’s share as well! midnight snack location! must try!

My friend told me this was better than Gang Jung chicken so I gave them a chance. Maybe I shouldn’t have because I regret it Now. The wings were not up to standard. When I think of Korean chicken, I think of crunch and sauce. The wings are suppose to be flavorful and texture is crunchy. These wings were neither crunchy or flavorful. It was just salty in a really wet runny sauce. I ordered my wings spicy and they were lacking!!! So shocked!!! An asian place lacking spicy? That almost never happen for me. I might give them another chance but I’m not too sure.

I was craving chicken wings and read somewhere about Tto Tto Wa. Couldn’t wait to try and support the business(has an interesting story behind this restaurant). First time was a disaster. It is really hidden, my gps went crazy. To make it easier to find: if you are facing H-Mart(outside), this place would be on your left side, around the corner, among some other non-food related business. Then I had problems understanding the lady at the counter– I could see the place had a space in the back and kept asking if I could sit there but she kept saying«to go», no idea why. Gave up and went to a place cross street. Because I am stubborn, I went there a second time, decided to eat no matter what. The gods were in my favor and I met a young lady speaking English. Yay! I sat in the back– a modest but nicely decorated area. I had the chicken wings that comes with a spicy/sweet sauce, bits of rice cake and a Asian style radish(rice vinegar and sugar). It was very good! Service was also good, very informal and laid back. I just wish they had more flavors for me to go back and try them all.(Remember the first visit that didn’t happened? Across street there is a place that offer many flavors, that’s how I know). Overall, very good place for a casual lunch, dinner!

In an effort to find the best Korean fried chicken, the hubby and I decided to check out this place for lunch. The Korean lady that works here is not very friendly, but adequate enough with English to take an order. I am not sure if you are supposed to order at the counter for only carry out, but we were confused and ordered there for dine-in. We ordered the half spicy chicken and then a lunch order of the kimchi fried rice. We then found a table at the back of the nicely decorated restaurant and watched TV on their big flat screen. Our food came out in a timely manner and I was pleased to see that the kimchi fried rice came with tiny cuts of SPAM and a fried egg(just like my mom makes it!). We both really enjoyed this dish. The fried chicken is cut in a way I don’t feel most American’s are accustom to, so be prepared. My hubby really liked the fried chicken and thought it was the best he had ever had. I enjoyed it but I must admit I like Gang Jung a little more. The radish was really good at the end. This place is open from 11A-2A so I think it may be better to come check this place out at night and see if the atmosphere is a little different at night.

Omggggg I can’t explain how much I love their yang yum chicken!!! I’ve tried plenty at other restaurants, but this place is by far my favorite. Although its more of a beer+chicken place, I go here whenever I’m craving chicken. I’ve tried other stuff other then the yang yum chicken, but they’re all mediocre. Trust me and go there to try the yang yum chicken, you will be coming back for more.

Love this place. I would always come here after midnight with friends. The sauced 7 pieces chicken with bones can feed 4 people. The sauce is not overwhelming, it’s barely spicy.(but I guess if you can’t handle spicy, don’t get the sauced one) There’s little bits of ricecakes with the chicken. A must-go place if you think American chicken(BWW, Pluckers, etc) is too much for you

I was happy to find a Korean fried chicken place opening closer to my house than Carrolton, but Bonchon is no Tto Tto Wa. Tucked behind the PGB side of the HMart complex, Tto Tto Wa has the best tasting Korean fried chicken in Dallas IMO. Their spicy sauce, which is applied after the second frying of the chicken is not only bearably spicy, but slightly sweet, with the distinctive red pepper paste flavor critical to any Korean dining experience(for me at least). They have a convenient window into the kitchen where you can order and pay for your take away, and an area where you can relax on a bench and watch a Spanish language soccer match(I know, what?) until the food is ready. There is also a dining room — just keep walking toward the large glass-doored refrigerator filled with giant bottles of kimchee. Tto Tto Wa has been around for years, and there are many reasons for that, but one that I appreciated greatly as a westerner is their full color, illustrated menu with both English and Korean names printed clearly next to the photos. I didn’t find prices to be high for the area or the food offered. $ 13 for a half chicken, $ 13 for a kimchee pancake(which btw is HUGE, though not crunchy as it is at some other places — but then again I ordered it to go so it didn’t sit on a hot cast iron skillet while waiting to be eaten). Overall, if you’re in the area and want the most delicious chicken, this is the spot. Even if you’re not in the area, it’s worth a drive. Nota bene, there are bones in the chicken — if you get a half or whole spicy chicken that amounts to the usual pieces of a chicken, prefried, then hacked into smaller pieces, fried again, and coated with sauce. So maybe get the wings if you have children or folks prone to choking dining with you.

I’m a late bloomer, so whenever I want Korean and in the H-Mart area, then 9 out of 10 times I’ll end up at Tto Tto Wa. I’ve been there numerous of times and just visited again yesterday. I’ve ordered a couple of different items on the menu, but I’d have to highlight that the most consistent and favorite item on the menu for me is the Yang-Yum-Chicken(Korean style seasoned chkn). For fried chicken I like to go to Plus Chicken near Komart in Hairy Hines. As far as consistency goes, I stopped ordering the Oh-dang Tang(fish cake soup) for the third time, because the second time it tasted like the chef(s) made it really fast and added MSG. We also ordered the Dduk Bbogi(spicy rice cake) and it was good. They made it really spicy(which I like) and the Dduk(rice cake) was soft. I wish they would also carry Cheese Dduk Bbogi in the future… TBH, I want to give this place a 3.5, but I’m gonna go ahead and give it a 4 in the hopes that Tto Tto Wa improves. Also, the young lady who served us was really nice and cool. Every time we visit, I see her studying while working diligently in the late hours. I like to encourage her to study hard! =) All in all, just a little improvement and Tto Tto Wa will be on par with my satisfaction/expectations. PS: If you have any suggestions, please recommend some Korean restaurants in the Carrollton, H-Mart area that opens past 10PM, thanks!

I hike from downtown Dallas to upper over there at least twice a month to go into a spicy coma. The food, ambiance and late hours make this a fave little hideaway. Privacy screens create the illusion of a VIP area at each table. The food: Love the contrast between the biting spice of the super crispy chicken(how does she do that??? sauce + fried chix usu = mushy, limp skin. Note to Scooby – check on this!) the fluff of the rice balls and the crunch of the radish side. Altogether, it creates a mouth symphony. Now, don’t be surprised when the chicken is hacked into pieces. That’s how it is. I don’t why. I don’t care why. Just be careful of the bones. They give you a cute little bucket in which you can hide the carnage. Also, after you’ve eaten for a while, you’ll notice that there is a lot more chicken there than you may have initially thought. The pork cutlet soup is to die for! I’d be happy to have just that with with bread for a week. There are traditional Korean dishes like kimchi and pancakes(caterpillar pupae, anyone?) as well as dumplings for the less adventuresome. The treatment: The owner, Jainie, will check on the table and bring out items for taste buds that want to travel where few taste buds have been before. The staff makes an effort to bring tastings to suit the likes of the diners. The peanuts and other snacks that appear out of nowhere give this place bonus points. Oh! The BEER! They will bring you a pretty, clear vat of beer to your private little piece of nirvana so the neighbors won’t whisper about how much you are drinking. The WINE! Korean and yummy. Don’t let the delicate bouquet and the bubbles fool you – this wine is a hell of a drug. I feel very grown up drinking the wine out of the the metal cups they provide. The WATER. Yes, the water. You’ll see! Promise, you’ll see. This place is open til 2AM and recently started serving lunch. Upgrading the bathrooms would take this place to another level.

Their chicken is way over priced. $ 9 for five pieces of the regular chicken and $ 15 for only 7 of the spicy ones. There were only 2 wings, 1 drumstick, and 1 tiny piece of an almost unrecognizable cardboard-like piece of chicken breast for the 5 pieces of the regular chicken($ 9)…wait that’s actually only 4 pieces… darn. And as for the spicy chicken… most of the pieces were unrecognizable little bits and pieces of chicken and there was only 1 wing in there. I got a piece of bone with the spicy chicken one and most of the chicken pieces were overcooked and tough. I gotta say my favorite thing from this restaurant were the pickled radishes and jalapeño. and the rice cake pieces that came in with the spicy chicken… So, yea… not coming here again. Even the chicken place ddorae orae(not sure how it’s spelled) in H-mart was better.

Stay away from this place! Total rip off. We paid over $ 60 for 3 whole chickens and got only 2 drum sticks there should be 6! Most of the other pieces were weird odds and ends with little meat. What a disappointment! They took advantage of the fact I called in the order instead of eating in.

The amount of food is not worth the price. C’mon, it’s chicken. I don’t want to pay the amount that I would be paying at an upscale restaurant and receive skimpy pieces of chicken that are called«dark and white» pieces when they are going to be the size of chicken nuggets. I would much rather go to the Plus Chicken in the Komart plaza in Harry hines, Dallas.

Saw the article about the Spicy Fried Chicken in the Dallas Observer and tried to go on opening week. I failed, arrived at lunch time only to find out they don’t open til 2 or 3 pm. OK, I drove home disappointed salivating about Korean Beer & Spicy Fried Chicken. I dreamed, and dreamed, and dreamed some more. About a month later after I tiring 12 hour day of packing for a move, car repairs, etc, I was HUNGRY, and in need of a beer or two to soothe my aching muscles. I had the time and it was late enough so I grabbed my chance! Walked in and saw the Hite Beer in the cooler, took one. It was light, smooth and delicious, I love how beer is served in the smaller glasses at places like this, makes it go down much quicker though it seems so I gotta be careful. 9.99 seemed a bit expensive, but really I didn’t care. The chicken was marvelously spicy, lots of bone, but that’s part of the fun. I love that they also give you around 40 oz of water in some kind of plastic carafe, ice cold, also in a little glass. The combination of the crunch, spice, chicken beer & water was outta sight!

I wouldn’t say any of the dishes we tried were outstanding but all were good. There is not a real wait staff so if you need something, don’t feel shy to walk up to the kitchen and ask for whatever you need. Tried the following: spicy chicken, fried chicken, kimchi jun, pumpkin(made of squash) jun, fried gizzards. Again, all were good. I’d go back again. Great place to go for late night munchies. They’re open until 2AM every night!

Couldn’t find this on Unilocal/internet but its located next to Hmart near 190. This place is pronounced TTOTTOWAH(meaning«come again»), its a korean style chicken place. They sell fried chicken, spicy marinated chicken(yang nyum chicken), feets and other good stuff. Went here with my friend and ordered fried chicken, yang nyum chicken, hobak jun, and odeng soup. It was a feast for two people but we wanted to try different things. They have other items on the menu as well but mostly snack foods. Fried chicken I didn’t even touch cause I’m not a huge fan of it. Yang nyum chicken(spicy marinated chicken) was pretty good and for 5pcs they give you a lot. The chicken is cut up in small pcs not whole pcs. The sauce was not bad either not as spicy as it looked. Hobak jun(literal translation«pumpkin pancake» but its not made with pumpkin more like squash) Now this was my favorite! I love jun(juhn) period and the waitress told us this sells the most so we gave it a try. If you haven’t had jun this is good to start off with. Its round and comes out on a big plate, enough to feed 3 – 4 ppl. Odeng(oh dang) soup wasn’t as good… I can actually make this @ home so that should say something right there. To those who don’t know what odeng soup is, its a soup with fish cakes in a fish broth. They added onions and green onions to make it look better but its just a fish cake soup. If you’re interested they have chicken feet, no joke, they really do have chicken feet.
