Great fried mushrooms, fries, and burgers. Homemade chips needed more flavor. Friendly service. Very casual, sit anywhere you like kind of place.

When I saw a recent article naming Sid’s as having the best burger in Carrollton, I had to check it out for myself. The wife and I went this morning, and did not regret it. I had the hickory burger, and barely finished it. It could very well be the messiest burger I’ve ever had(six napkins), and quite excellent. It was loaded with ingredients and quickly lost bun integrity. I had to hunch over to eat it. My wife ordered the club sandwich, and it was huge, stuffed full of meat. She didn’t quite finish half, and will have the other half tomorrow. Their homemade chips are near perfection. Nearly two hours later, she is still eating them, savoring each bite. She said she’d go back just for the chips! The fries were decent but not at the same level as the rest of the food. The coffee is quite good, and the sweet tea is so-so. The service staff is quite friendly, as is the owner. My only big knock on the place is that they are only open for weekday lunch. It will take special effort for us to get there, but we will be back! Best burger in Carrollton? I think so!

We order from here all the time. I just love this place. The house made chips are to die for! a big bag of grease and it taste great! They do have light things on the menu as well but they are not as good as the burgers, and fries. Haven’t tried anything else on the menu. The food comes plenty for your money and a big portion! They have peach tea which i heard is really good. Hours are mainly for lunch and i believe they are closed after 2 or 3pm. Nice little café.

This place has an old country, welcoming theme to it. Our waitress was very kind, and the food came out promptly. I had the chicken fried steak with fries and green beans. Nothing spectacular, but it was tasty. For less than $ 10($ 6.95), not a bad deal at all. Will have to try their sandwiches or burgers next time.

I really don’t know how this place gets such good reviews. It does have a certain old school charm but it’s bordering on being dirty and in need of a big facelift. The service isn’t great our waiter brought our ticket to us before our meal was over and never even came back to see if we would like dessert. I HATE when people do that. It makes me feel rushed. The food is ok. Not fantastic but nothing wrong with it either. I see a lot of potential in this once charming restaurant but it is in desperate need of an update both in the décor and the menu.

I moved from New York to Carrollton last year, and I decided that I would venture downtown yesterday to eat at one of the local restaurants. We chose Sid’s Rainbow Grill and we were not disappointed.(I actually made a Unilocal account so that I could give this place a great review). This place has a very comfortable, at-home, kind of feel to it. I ordered one of the homespun chocolate milkshakes, and I thought I would try a frito pie since we don’t have those in upstate NY. My friend ordered the tacos and onion rings. Our food came out only about 5 or 6 minutes after ordering and it was all delicious. I loved my frito pie, and the onion rings were the best I’ve ever had. We had very friendly service, very quick service, and very good food! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Been coming here for years, because Sid makes by far the best burgers in the area. The chicken fried steak and other house specialties are great, too. True home cooking. Staff is always super friendly, and they treat you like family. Skip the chains and make Sid’s your lunchtime ritual..

Simply the BEST old drugstore fountain and burger joint in Dallas area. The homemade Sweet Potato chips and Jalapeño Cheddar Cheeseburger are my my favorite. The wife loves the German Style Coleslaw.

We came here with friends: 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby. There was plenty of room for us to sit together at a table in the back room. The restaurant is very family friendly. My burger and stuffed mushrooms was delicious. My boyfriend got the chicken fried steak and wasn’t a fan — so we recommend you stick to the burgers. Service was friendly and prompt.

As said before, this is a fantastic place to grab a bite if you are looking for some comfort food and some laid back hometown ambience. Be forewarned that their website menu and hours do not coincide with what’s really happenin’ down here. Apparently the City of Carrollton controls the site and via the waitress, they are unresponsive to them updating it. Kind of a bummer for those of us living in 2014 where a website is a standard. It is what it is. Although semi-argumentative when I placed my «order» the staff here is nice and what you would expect from a nice hometown eatery.

Hello Everyone, We moved here in 2001. And we have come here once/twice a month, almost every month, because this is «where» Carrollton sees it’s neighbors. The food is great. Wholesome and, yes, good olé’ burgers with home made potato chips, sweet potato chips, and fresh cut fries. However don’t forget, their other food is just as fast and filling as are their burgers. By the way, I say Sid has the«Best Burgers in Carrollton!» Why, because there’s more to a burger than the restaurant’s décor and chain recognition. And if you’re interested, my favorite has been the Jalapeño Burger with mixed sweet/regular home made potato chips. Yum! This single location– small business is the«heart» of Old Downtown Carrollton. Whether you’re a local Politician, PTA Member, neighbor, or passer — by, this place is a people watching and meeting magnet.

This is an old-school diner /burger joint located in the historic downtown Carrollton area. I’ve passed by this place quite a few times, but never when they’ve been open(11am to 2pm). Finally decided to come and give this place a try when my coworkers and I were not feeling our usual places. We came here for the burgers and I ended up getting the chili-cheese burger while my coworkers got the bacon cheeseburger and another got a regular hamburger. The food came out very quickly and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The patties were the typically thin pressed ones you often see, but they did a good job of seasoning it though mine was somewhat masked by the chili sitting on top. We also got an order of fries and they were definitely fresh made though somewhat typical. I think the main draw of this place(besides the atmosphere and history) is that you can get a good meal on the cheap while supporting a local business. We didn’t try the milkshakes or flavored cokes so I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future. The service was excellent and our waitress humored us a bit when one of my coworkers started asking her some random questions. It felt like she knew the regulars and wanted to know our story, which I thought was cool. I believe I also saw the eponymous owner out there helping serve the burgers, which is cool to see as you know he’s invested in the business. The overall atmosphere of the place is a bit divey, but it’s spacious and was completely filled when we were there. I would come here again if I wanted a burger and was in the area. The prices are good and it’s a nice little place with some history.

Apparently this is downtown Carrollton! First time I’m here, and for lunch during work. This is a nice old-school ambiance restaurant with really friendly staff. I got the chicken nachos, while my coworkers got sandwiches and burgers. One thing to note, the prices were pretty low for lunch, and orders came super quick, and I really mean quite quick. I was surprised, particularly given how busy they were. The nachos themselves were pretty tasty, nothing out of this world but still quite good. Overall, pretty good good, great staff and prices and speed.

Bacon cheeseburger– medium with home style chips. Chips are sweet potatoes and regular pototates mixed. Burger comes with lettuce, pickle, tomatoes, mustard, red onion and can get on wheat or sesame seed bun 4.50 for the burger and 2.75 for the full basket of chips Definitely the diner atmosphere I agree with another reviewer– place needs a scrub or fresh coat of paint. Somethin is missin. Being a carrollton resident since 1993 I’m achin a bit to give this place less than 4 stars however for my burger it didn’t wow me. It is a good burger however I’m on a quest for the top of the burger list. My bacon was pretty much overlooked if not partly burned. The bun could have been fresher. Just my feedback. Would I come back? Sure– my kids like Sid’s. Would have been tickled pink if my hometown here could have impressed more!
