Honestly, i want to love this place. I really really do. I used to love this place, last year. However, it’s just not the same. First off, I ordered quite a few(half a dozen), and it was about 15 dollars. Not horrible, not fantastic. For what I got, I think it’s ridiculously over priced. My husband and I order two smore’s, salted caramel, vanilla birthday cake, chocolate cherry, and lemon raspberry. I was super excited to have these, as last time I only had interest in the sugar free. Sadly, I was extremely disappointed. I tried the vanilla birthday cake, and was honestly expecting that hard core birthday cake flavor everyone knows. Nope, it was a vanilla cupcake, with vanilla frosting, and some sprinkles. Looked like something I could have bought from Walmart. I didn’t even finish the vanilla one, as it was just.no. The salted caramel was also a vanilla cupcake, with a buttercream(?) frosting, and the caramel tasted like the syrup they use in coffee drinks — absolutely awful! This one I didn’t even try anything but the frosting and a small piece of the cake. My husband, happily, loved his lemon raspberry aside from the fact it was extremely crumbly which made it difficult to eat. The chocolate cherry was OK, but very store bought like. The worst ones that we had were the smore’s cupcake. I was so excited for this one, as it looked amazing. It was a vanilla cupcake(could have been more creative, but whatever), with frosting, marshmallows, some graham cracker, and a little chocolate drizzle. The one thing that confused me was the vanilla custard in the middle. I’m extremely curious how this is part of a smore’s, at all? I didn’t even eat this one, because my husband said it was disgusting. If anything, toast the marshmallows, but no. At this point, we definitely will not be back. I would say out of what I tried(and what my husband ate) you can get similar from a box mix, or any grocery store. There’s nothing fancy, and it’s just not what I was expecting for 15 dollars.

I am a cupcake girl. I have literally tried cupcakes from all over the country. I have to say I was not at ALL impressed with this place. Not only was it hard to find, and hidden but for all the work of finding the olace the cupcakes were one step up from a grocery store cupcake. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the Red Velvet. The frosting wasn’t even cream cheese. but regular basic white frosting. It literally tasted like plastic. and the cake part had NO flavor. Worst of all. the price! Almost $ 3 for a less than average cupcake. The 2 stars was for the customer service. .basic at that. I say pass.

My uncle’s birthday was coming up in two days and it’s difficult to gift a man that has everything, so I thought a cake decorated like the gift his wife bought him was a unique idea. A birthday cake decorated like an antique Henry rifle was impossible to get in two days until I called Carson Cupcakes! They were happy to help me and it came out beautiful and delicious. She attempted to deliver it to their house in Minden that morning and they weren’t home — oh no. I called her and said they wouldn’t home till 2:00pm and can you believe she drove back out there without charging me a delivery fee. I even offered her gas money since it was two trips and she wouldn’t accept it. What a sweetheart. I should also mention how eager she was to take on the challenge to make a replica cake of the Civil war Henry Rifle. That was the best experience in ordering from any bakery I’ve ever had. Great people over there and delicious cakes & cupcakes. Lehua Reid

Saw the sign on Hwy 50 and decided to try them out. This establishment is not easy to find. I had the German Chocolate Cake that was only $ 1.00 because it was a day old. It was delicious and moist. My husband tried the Coconut and his comment was, as Lawrence Welk would say AH-WONDERFUL, AH-WONDERFUL. The only petty down fall we found was the writing on the cupcake case was very hard to read. We will visit them again.

Update: After a few months, the recipes for the cupcakes have improved greatly. The cupcakes are a pleasant consistency and not at all dense like before, and they are now stored in a non-refrigerated display that makes them a much more appropriate temperature. I have seen a wide variety of interesting flavor options, and the price was reduced when I went in the other day to only $ 2.00 a cupcake – much more reasonable for the size. My only drawbacks about these cupcakes are that there doesn’t seem to be much consistency in flavor choices(I appreciate the unique flavors, but sometimes you just want to go in and know that you can find a chocolate or vanilla, or even just see one of your favorite creative flavors pop up again – there are so many options that I don’t often get to try a flavor I liked a second time!), and I find the chocolate cake recipe to be a little… Well, I just don’t taste the chocolate. All in all, I feel like Carson Cupcakes is improving their business and their products, and I’m a fan!

Awful Cupcakes! We bought 2 one ancho chili one s’more. The cake was so dry and had the texture of corn muffins. The chilli had no spice and the chocolate cupcake had a bitter nasty taste that lasted even after I drank 2 glasses of water. The s’more tasted nothing like a s’more. Both of the frostings were overly sweet and kind of a weird cross between greasy and grainy at the same time. We split the cupcakes in half so we could try each flavor. So glad we didn’t more. I have gotten better cupcakes from most of the grocery stores in the area.

I wanted to support local business and this is right down the street so I walked my 2 kettle ones down to carson cupcakes for a treat. I got German chocolate. I couldn’t even finish it! And me not finishing a sweet is unheard of! So dry and the flavor wasn’t even as good as a boxed brand. I bought a total of 4 cupcakes for over $ 12! Forget it! They are just normal sized cupcakes too!

Noticed lately on their face book page they update what flavors are in the store. It seems like they are offering new flavors in the store and not just for special orders which is a plus!
