So… there we were in Carson City, on February 14th, and the restaurants, recommended by friends who live there, were full up with Cupid’s best efforts. After 15 years of marriage, we we just hungry… happy, but hungry. Luckily we can upon Phở Country. Now, it’s also Tét(Vietnamese New Years) so Phở Country was busy as well, but we got in. Wow, were we happy we did. There was a predominantly Asian crowd inside, which we took as a good sign! It’s hard to know what you’re gonna get the first time in a new place, so we tried a few things … Imperial Rolls(they call them simply«Egg Rolls») and they were delicious and not greasy at all. We had two different Phở, and some salads and a beer each. All the food was fresh and bright. We found service to be prompt, friendly and accommodating(we asked for a half order of something). We highly recommend Phở Country as an all around good experience. P. S. They did a brisk to-go business and managed to keep all service timely.

The food is pretty good; I’ve been here a time or two and have not been disappointed. However, the service is less than desirable. I was out to dinner, about an hour before closing and was craving some phở, and Phở Country is the closest to my house so we said«let’s go there!» Well we walk in, and have to wait to be seated, the host quickly hurried off when we took our seats and promptly returned with waters. Very brisk, but not is a polite way, quite unfriendly actually. Well we decide what we want, and wait, made sure our menus were off to the side, you know, the universal sign for«hey we want to order now!» Well it took us standing up and telling them we were ready for them to take our order; nearly 20 minutes after being there. So we get our order taken, get our appetizers and get the same standoffish service we got when we first sat down. Their food is good, not the best, certainly not enough for me to want to come back. Three stars is generous.

Alright, the tendon phở from all the reviews IS the way to go. My only complaint is that they should put more noodles too in the large bowl. Soup was tasteful and did not leave me desiring oodles of H2O later. Service was okay. They forgot to give us chopsticks until l looked around and note that other tables had them(Hey, I’m in Nevada – perhaps they had expected everyone to not use chopsticks there). I would normally give them 4 stars but had to ding them for their facilities. The restrooms are OUTSIDE, around the backside of the building. You literally have to walk outside and go back in 25 °F weather. What the heck? Its FREEZING and not safe IMHO at night. It also cheapens the dining experience to feel like a road pit stop. Please, make it internally accessible…

SPRINGROLLS!!! $ 5.50 for 2 huge spring rolls and excellent peanut dipping sauce. We showed up almost close to closing but they had no hesitation to serve us. So great.
