This has always been a favorite of mine from the days of the little hole in the wall called Mo & Sluggo’s. This was a cool spot but it got way to big for the back room and then on to the great spot on Carson st. He then took it out of the city and moved it here. Boy oh boy did I walk in on a great night. They have a jam session going and wow this is awesome. My food was really tasty as it has always been. The Superfraggacheesalicious was amazing. This is a sourdough bowl stuffed with 5 cheeses and garlic. WOW! Then onto the entrée, Fried Cheese Cheeseburger. This is so good with all the gooey cheese and yummy toppings. While watching the jam session with these great artist I talked myself into the dessert that I know is out of this world. Dulce de Leche ice cream pie. This is so so so so so so so good. As if was not full of enough flavor they top it off with a chocolate chipotle sauce. This is the best place to check out. They have an awesome bar fully stocked with lots of your favorites. And if all this was not enough, Right next door is the Carson Hot Springs. It’s a full date night with a soak at the end. Come see Chef Tony and staff all very attentive and very friendly. I read a few of the other reviews and have not ever seen any of the bad things they spoke of. So here is what you need to do is get down here and see for yourself. Life can always use a little Sassafras!

Continues to be as good as it gets. May I suggest the Brie and Ham sandwich.

Very cool new venue at the Hot Springs. Varied menu(to say the least) with saucy wait staff(sense of humor) about a million different beers and a stage with live music What more could you ask for. Not to mention that the food is great!

We really enjoyed this place from the drinks, food, atmosphere to service! Only in town for a night and think we will come back later for entertainment. The reuben and meatloaf sandwiches were amazing. Beer selection was very nice and loved the Tahoe Mule. Jessica our server was a delight and so nice. Thanks for a great experience in Carson!

Outstanding fish and chips, also the seafood and shrimp dish and the Terrible sandwich. All ver very good. We went with another couple and enjoyed a great meal and good wine. Very sociable place and welcoming. Our old car club just had a lunch here. Excellent buffet featuring 3 salads, hot and cold sandwiches and soup. They handled our group of 32 efficiently and well. Great place with way above average food. Highly recommend.

We’ve been here three times now, so it is now officially on our rotation! Husband loves the fish and chips(and the side blue cheese cole slaw is great!). I’ve had the pizza, salmon, and Vera Cruz snapper… all tasty and fresh. Eclectic selection of beers, friendly staff, and quiet venue. But they do have live music sometime, but we just haven’t been on those nights yet. Easy to get to: 580 south to College Pkwy, left on College Pkwy, first left, and left again. Same lot as the Hot Springs. I heard you can go to the hot springs and order food at the pool too. Go there! This place is tasty!

Went for lunch to try the new location. We sat in the bar area. Service was good and prompt. Place was clean. Menus has good variety, they have salads, sandwiches, burgers ETC. I had the fried cheese burger, my wife had a falafel salad, my daughter had veggie burger, and my youngest daughter had a guacamole turkey sandwich. All of our food was good. I really liked the turkey sandwich. It was grilled with cheese salsa and guacamole. The bread was perfectly grilled and toasted. It came with French fries. The fries were very good. They make them fresh. I don’t like saying home made because it’s not home! Lol I will get that next time. That’s right I will be back. Looking at the reviews I want to try the nachos. The table next to us had fish tacos. Those looked good too. I’ve been told the pizza is good. So I have some Choices when I come back. As for my burger it was good and plenty big. The cheese was crispy. Yea that’s right fried cheese. It was good but I think I like just melted cheese better. I ordered a side of aioli mayo for my burger, you have lots of choices for sides. I chose onion rings. They were good. Fries are better! So I liked my experience at sassafras! you should give it a try.

This place was truly amazing! I herd great things about it and I am so glad that I was able to check it out. Right when we walked in for lunch we were greeted and seated right away. It wasn’t very busy but we did get there early. They have have a great selection of uniqure foods ranging from sandwhiches to soups/salads and bugers. I had the Siracha turkey burger with blue cheese coleslaw and it was one of the BEST burgers I have had in a while. It was a huge burger and cooked to perfection. I would love to come back and try this place again. It looks like at night they have a band that plays and they also have a happy hour daily so it could be a great place to try out after hours with friends. Another great thing they have is a good selection of beer and cocktails, they are always changing their«specials» menu so you never go bored!

A couple things with this restaurant… 1. All IPA’s and the non-IPA’s are also bitter — so if you’re not an IPA/bitter beer fan, you’re outta luck. 2. The nachos… not enough cheese and even though there was grilled veggies on it, it all still seemed flavorless. 3. The fried chicken was way too salty. I like salty food so when my husband complained, I thought it was just him. Then I tried it and WOW! They super overdid it. 4. The muffelatta. They did say it was«their version» and being from Louisiana, I am picky; however, even as a sandwich, it wasn’t that good. One of the meats they used was super tough; they buttered the bread which made the sandwich super greasy(with the oil from the olive salad); and there was not nearly enough olive salad on the sandwich. 5. The waitress was super nice and attentive. 6. When they say eclectic, they mean it. Fun environment and they had live music that was pretty great.

Gastropub? They didn’t even ask how I wanted my burger cooked. No surprise, it came way overcooked. Like, the edges were getting hard, it was so overdone. Not even close to gastropub quality, not even passable for a café.

Wow, thank you Unilocalers for helping me find this place. With all the national food chains on 395 it would be all too easy to not take the extra three minutes to find someplace fun and delicious like this was… I felt like I’d found a hidden gem in Carson City. We were in for a late lunch on a Saturday, and there were a few other couples in there, but it was pretty quiet. Their menu(I promised myself I would not use the word eclectic in this review) was wide ranging, and there were specials as well. I put the menu in the pics section. I had a meatball grinder that was heavenly, and my wife had the pecan burger and wow, what a great combination with the bacon… and the fries? Some of the best ever. At least as far as we were concerned. Our server was a nice young man originally from Minnesota that we enjoyed talking with, and we left with a smile. Mahalo.

Don’t try the Reuben. They don’t use pastrami or thousand island! They use brisket, dry. Yuck. It smells nasty in there too.

This is a new favorite for sure. Exceptional food at reasonable prices. The food is all of your favorites with an amazing twist. I got the BBQ potato chip burger and the black n bleu fondue. Burger was cooked well and came loaded with homemade BBQ chips and they had two different house made sauces they gave to top it with. And we got Korean Potato salad(must try!!!) which was mind blowing! The fondue was an awesome touch combining shrimp and bleu cheese with a Cajun flair. To finish off our meal we got a salted caramel which has sedated me into ecstasy prior to writing this. The vibe was pretty cozy. They have a lot of cool art on the walls. They also have a bar with several craft beers being served from the looks of it. I will absolutely be back for more! P. S. Holly rocks!

I just don’t care for this place… there’s a couple of really good items on the menu, which is why they didn’t get one star. Unfortunately, I’ve been there maybe 5 times and I’ve never gotten good service. I mean, people are nice, but it’s just not quality service. And it’s really pricey. I’m sure I’ll end up there again, but not really a place I’d recommend.

What a find… and you do have to find this place as it’s not near the chain restaurants on Carson Street. Food and décor are indeed eclectic but not overdone. Vegetarians can be quite happy here as there are many options not evident from the menu. Just ask Stephanie, the kind of waiter you wish you had at every meal. I had a BLT(without the B) which was brimming with avocado. Homemade potato chips were fresh and crisp. Hubby had Jayme’s Veggi burger which was unique, huge, and delicious, with a side of Yucatan potato salad. Definitely not the usual mayo slathered blandness. And where else would your bill be presented in a tiny casket?

Nice little place and good food. I wasn’t diggin the sweet potato chips but I think it’s because they were chewy however, there were some chips on my plate that were the consistency of a potato chip and those were good. Perhaps some were sitting too long? Decent staff, nothing too special. Location is next to the hot springs which is weird and cool at the same time. Anyway, it was overall a good experience
