Came here a while back… Wasn’t too great. Ordered lobster and rice. Lobster was over cooked. really dry. I believe we also had the salmon… that was ok. I don’t see myself gong back.

Came here 15 mins before closing and they had turned the steamers off. First and last time coming here. They need to work out a better method of letting the customers know how their restaurant works(or doesn’t in this case)

Updated review After 2 or 3 successful trips to cajun Caleb, I made my way back to Carson after an 4 month hiatus. I got my usual mixed pasta Caleb and the flavors were there and that was about it. I mean the portion of seafood, was embarassing. 2 small shrimp, 2 slices of sausage and 2 mussels. I have pictures of my food from the previous 2 times and it was 50% more food on my plate. I don’t know what happened? if cost were an issue or just trying to squeeze more profit into a small business. What ever the case, raise the price before you serve someone a big box of pasta and tiny portions of meat. I had 2 take 2 stars off for the skimp.

It was my first time but wasn’t bad. Not better than my grandmothers creole cooking but wasn’t disappointed. The shrimp box was good but just a little too salty for me. Will come back to try other meals.

Rating: 58⁄100 pts Smell that pungent, garlic-y aroma that hits you upon entering? That’s the smell of Cajun sauce being prepared in the kitchen. It’s also a preview for how your breath’s gonna smell for the next few hours. Cajun Caleb is a cheap place that serves simple, Cajun seafood. Their Cajun Boxes are a great deal for lunch: for $ 7, you get your choice of Cajun shrimp, sausage, tilapia, plus two generous scoops of rice, a half cob of corn, a lime wedge, and a side container of sweet coleslaw. If Cajun boxes for some reason aren’t your thing, they’ve also got a few other items, including Jambalaya, Cajun tacos, and pasta. The good: their seafood seems fairly fresh. I tried the tilapia box, and my fish didn’t taste fishy in the slightest. Food is not premade, instead always being cooked to order – expect to wait 10 – 15 minutes. The Cajun sauce has a strong garlic flavor that stays delicious for a while; just before it becomes monotonous, you remember there’s the sweet corn and coleslaw to counter the Cajun garlic, and then the lime for an added level of flavor. Also, the staff is extremely attentive, confirming if it’s okay to add garlic, and giving you updates on your order as you wait. The not so good: the Cajun sauce was far too reliant on oil for my taste. While I enjoyed the meal itself, the bottom of the rice unavoidably becomes drenched in fat, which afterwards made me feel lethargic. Also, they are take-out only, and this food is impossible to eat on the go. Still, it’s good to know there’s cheap Cajun seafood cuisine right here in Carson. Three stars as far as $ 7 lunches go.

Ordered two large party trays. One was seafood mix, and another was seafood and pasta. The food was gone within minutes and everyone said it was delicious! My friend commented how yummy the mussels were. I’m going to order all my party food from here. It was a hit and it hit the spot! Thank you, Cajun Caleb!

I went back today for crawfish again. Oh my goodness, this time is even better. For as little as $ 10 per pound, these are absolutely the BEST crawfish I have ever had. Big in size and fresh in taste, goes perfect with the yummy garlic cajun sauce. I finished 2lbs quickly and felt like another 2lbs right away. Definitely going back tomorrow, can’t wait. A hiden gem in town for best seafood!

After 3 weeks of wanting to try this place, but having no time for it, I FINALLYDID. I’m not even someone who is fond of fish, due to some childhood experiences(but that’s another weird story), BUT I decided to order the Cajun Fish Lunch box. Wait time for food is 10−15min(so call in to-go if you don’t like waiting). This lunch box came with a BIG fillet, ample rice, steamed corn, 2 wedges of lime and a little side of coleslaw. All more than worth the bang for ya buck. First of all, HOMAIGAH, the FLAVOR. GARLIC is key and Cajun Caleb does NOT disappoint this garlic lover. After devouring my lunch box, I had thoughts like: «Who is Caleb and why aren’t we married?», «Why did it take me this long to try this place?», «How can fish taste this good to me?», Who am I?”. I’ll definitely be back to try many more things. TL;DR? Outrageous flavor; Call in advance to pick up; CLOSED on Tues; CLOSED between 2−5pm; Try the lunch boxes but set your eyes on eventually ordering a whole party tray for yourself, Treat. Ya. Self.; Marry Caleb

We went on a Friday night and it was busy. Because the cook was not in that evening due to illness, they staff on site was a little slow and asked for our patience. To show appreciation for our business, we were offered a complimentary beverage for slower than usual service. The food was really good, especially the shrimp and fish boxes. I would recommend calling in an order to pick up instead of going there to chance waiting for your order. Everything was tasty and met our expectations. Try it for yourself! We’ll definitely be back.

Our son was craving seafood so we found this place on Unilocal. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed it a lot. We bought 1 lb of clams &1 lb of peeled shrimp for our son. And we bought 2 box plates for ourselves. 1 fish &1 shrimp. Everything was made fresh to eat! Service is very good as well. We took 1 star off because of the seating area & hours. We were disappointed that they didn’t have a larger area to eat at. They should have 2 small tables & chairs for people who just wanna grab a quick bite to eat. We came around 130& wanted to sit in but the lady told us that they close at 2 – 5. I think they should just take their thin table & chair out all in all & just make it a take out place so people won’t complain about it being small. Picture provided!

KEEPINMINDTHISISTAKE-OUTONLY! Nonetheless, the food here was amazing. I was looking for seafood and was directed here, thankfully. At first, I was disappointed that it wasn’t a sit down restaurant but my family and I decided to try their food. The lady that helped us out was very friendly and even offered us samples since it was our first time. We decided to get the half tray which consisted of mussels, clams, shrimp, potatoes, corn, and lime. I must say, this is a 5⁄5 restaurant and I highly suggest going here. This definitely increased my love for Cajun food! What’s awesome is that you can request the spiciness here. After trying the half tray, we ordered the full tray for our Christmas party.

Oh my goodness just thinking about the food at this place makes me happy with fatness. Anyways I found out about this place because of my co workers. It’s hard to find a place to eat when you are smack dab somewhere in Carson… Do you like garlic? Do you like butter? Do you like to eat delicious food? You’re gonna love this place. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable! And the seafood is fresh and delicious. A reliable source tells me the owner goes to pick up fresh sea food every morning and once again in the afternoon. Service is great! Everyone that works here is very friendly and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Parking — there’s a small lot for you to park in but there’s definitely enough parking. There isn’t a place to sit and eat so take it to go and enjoy somewhere else.

This place is match made in heaven for the garlic lovers out there. I ordered the cajun lunch box with half sausage and shrimp, corn, and cole slaw on the side. Texture of the marinated shrimp and sausage was perfect and corn had the great mixutre of garlic and sweetness to it. The place itself is pretty small, so I’d recommend take out.

I finally got to try this today after work! My parents usually order to-go and bring it home so I’ve tried the shrimp a few times and I enjoyed it. ot to mention, I believe it was the owners who were inside and took my order and made it. They were both so nice and sweet to me and made conversation while I was waiting for my food. But today I decided to try the sausage box off their menu. It came with rice, their signature sauce, the sausage, corn in the cob, and coleslaw on the side. I LOVEDIT! It smelled amazing but the taste wasn’t too overpowering of spicy was and garlic so it was delicious. The prices are pretty fair and the food is great. If you’re in the Carson area you should check it out!

It’s Lenten season, which means seafood on Fridays! This establishment has been here for maybe just a little over a year. There’s been so many turnovers of businesses in this plaza that it’s hard to keep track. Anyway, I pass by this place whenever I go to the freeway and have been meaning to try it. They only take ‘to go’ orders. There is no dining in. There are benches to sit on while you wait for your order. Needless to say, it’s a small place, but clean. TVs reflect the current prices of their menu, so it’s right in front of you when you order. They’ve got individual foods, boxed meals, or party trays. By the way, they also sell a powdered version of their sauce in case you want to make something like this at the comfort of your own home. We ordered the lobster box, 1 pound of unpeeled shrimp(they offer peeled shrimp for $ 1 more), and a side order of corn. My husband and I were trying to compare the prices between this restaurant versus other similar places we’ve been too, but I think it’s about the same. However, this place is lacking in ‘oomph’ or a ‘kick.’ The sauce had flavor, but something was missing. Maybe more heat, more spices? It needed more of something. The cashier was extremely nice and made sure that our orders were correct before we left. The wait time was between 20 – 30 minutes, so I suggest calling in. We didn’t call in because we didn’t know it was a traditional restaurant. Ooops!

I spotted Cajun Caleb during one of my visits to Handugan and decided to come back and try it for lunch which is what I did a couple of days ago. Even though Cajun Caleb is located in a small strip mall that hosts Handugan, Mamita’s Grill and another bunch of businesses with a small lot it never seems to be completely full so accessibility and parking is not an issue. Cajun Caleb is a strictly to-go place with I guess one or two tables inside(if I remember correctly). On the door there are four lunch specials advertised all for $ 7. I decided to get the tilapia on rice(others included shrimp on rice and tacos). All lunch specials come with corn or cob. I paid by cash so I’m not sure if they take cards. The tilapia on rice is basically a decent sized steamed fillet of tilapia on a bed of rice topped with spicy southern curry. The curry was pretty good, but it had tons of garlic. The tilapia was good not great. It was very evident that it had been sitting in the freezer for a very long time and that it was just recently thawed and served. Thankfully it was not state or did not taste off. The corn of cob was terrific, steamed perfectly to infuse it with cajun spices. The service size looked small but the container is deep and has a lot of rice which was enough to fill me up, so no complaints here. Overall I liked what I ate considering the price paid so I’ll be back to try out some more options from their menu.
