First off im gonna start by saying i WILLNEVER come here again!!! So i called at 7:15 the guy who answered said my order will take 15 mins. I get there at 7:50pm. There’s a guy buying something so i waited till he was done. Then i tell the lady i phone ordered my food. She says it will be ready in 15 mins. I said but i called and they told me it will be ready in 15 mins. The lady said all rude u didn’t order from me u ordered from him. The guy then said something to her in their language and she responded because i was busy ive been busy all day. Grabbed her stuff and left. The guy walked to the back and started cooking my food… Like really, what the fuck!!! Im starving and don’t feel like goin anywhere else so i waited. It took him like 20 mins to get me my food. When i got my food he did apologize. But i will. Never come back. The food was good but ive had better at bolling crab so yea.

Sad to say the last time I was here the food was horrible. I called in my order, waited 30 min to leave my home and still waited an hour once I arrived. I believe my order was given to someone else. The gentleman who Took my order should NEVER answer the phone. He never understand anything you say… My order was completely wrong. I ordered crab legs and he gave me the big round crab & a lobster. I ordered shrimp rice he gave me white rice. When I told him what I ordered he put cabbage and shrimp on top of my rice… Where do they do that at. Not here. That was a first… Lol. Wth… Children were running all over the place confusing everything behind the desk. When his sister run the front desk everything is smoothly. However she was on vacation for several months… if they keep this up I will NEVEREVERGOBACK!!!

We just moved here. We decided to try this place before going to other places further away. We ordered crawfish, shrimp, king crab and also shrimp and rice box. The crawfish was blend, dry, and no spice at all. It was nothing like the crawfish we had in New Orleans. We are very disappointment since it’s main reason we came here! The king crab is pretty good. It actually has some flavor. Shrimp was okay, not over-cooked. We won’t come back. Period.

The mussels are amazing and the blueberry donut or whatever donut is freshest … Just ask the person working what donut is freshest. So yummy!!!

There are not that many places that still offer a meal that will fill you up and not hurt your wallet or purse. This place is great for garlic lovers and seafood.

Cajun Caleb is beyond amazing!!! It’s Lomita’s best kept secret. The prices are great; the food is clearly prepared with love; and the customer service is priceless! If you’re not in the area, it’s worth the drive.

First time coming here and it was an interesting experience. I say interesting because well it’s in a donut shop, if you weren’t on Unilocal and you just walked in you would have not expected to see the seafood menu. The ambiance was what you would expect from a donut shop, a few tables and thats it nothing extravagant, but like I said it’s a donut shop. The owner of the place I believe is an older asian lady who is very nice to her customers, offering free donuts, and letting customers slide with a few cents if they are short. I personally didn’t have the chance to try the donuts but I did try the seafood. And to be completely honest I was expecting a little more«UMPH» after reading the reviews on Unilocal.Ordered a pound of shrimp, and my Partner in Hunger ordered the rice & shrimp. When ordering it was quick and easy, fill up a check list of what you want and you pay right then and there. The food came out with quickness was a little surprised on how fast it came. And now I understand why it did. The pound of shrimp I ordered wasn’t satisfying at all, maybe I was expecting too much from the reviews but I asked for spicy and received little to nothing, it was more garlic than anything. It also did not feel or look like a pound of shrimp you would have received from somewhere else. As for the rice and shrimp we ordered I cannot say too much because I only had a bite, but from that one bite and from what my partner was telling me it had a real sour taste, she did not finish it. Other than all that, it’s not bad for the price(my total only being $ 15.) When you hear the phrase«you get what you pay for» this is place is literally that. If you’re looking for a BC, Kicking Crab, Claws etc etc. experience in the 310 area, I suggest taking your money elsewhere. But if you are looking for a cheap, and quick seafood fix I do suggest coming here. For the price you pay it’s not horrible.

This review is for the seafood, not the donuts. Food: The seafood is Cajun/Creole style. They had a variety of seafood options like crab, crawfish, shrimp(even peeled ones), mussels, etc. They even offer party trays! I order 1 lb. of shrimp, and shrimp over rice. The 1 lb. definitely did not look like a lb. and the sauce was very bland. My rice tasted like it had been drenched in lime juice. Both entrees were covered in garlic. I asked for spicy and neither were spicy at all. Price: Only paid $ 15 total. I believe the shrimp over rice was only $ 3. A steal if you are craving seafood on a budget. You get what you pay for. Service: The lady who helped me(owner I assume) was a nice older Asian lady. Although sometimes hard to understand, she seemed very genuine. She gives out donuts on the house sometimes! Setting: What you would expect, donut shop with a few tables. More of a place where you pick up to-go and eat elsewhere. Also, a strange crowd of people come through here. Overall: My expectations may have been too high since I often eat at Cajun restaurants. If you’re trying to fulfill a Boiling Crab-like craving, this isn’t the place. But if you want a quick seafood snack, you should check this place out! The food isn’t bad, just not something I would crave.

This is no longer Cajun Caleb — just Cajun! Caleb has moved to Carson and Figueroa. I will have to find out how different it is but the folks who own the donut shop have kept or adjusted their own recipe and deliver with nice presentation and a donut to boot. It is good for local Lomita cajun seafood. It’s better than House of Seafood — it seems like the flavor is not just all garlic but has some thought put into it! I do not have a refined palate but the garlic does not stay on me for 2 days like other places and I can actually taste other seasonings. Shrimp was not overcooked and it came out ready for a dinner party. Funny — I had this review drafted for awhile. At first it was 4 stars but I brought it back down to 3 because if it really was that great I would have been back. So far nothing has motivated me to pick up more since that time a few months ago.

This place is comparable to Kickin’ Crab or Boiling Crab as far as its food is concerned. The owners are nice and as I have implied, the food is excellent. Not too salty and not too oily with slight lemon sour. That’s why I give five stars for this place.

I heard good things about this place from my friends so i decided to try it out. with some friends.(FYI Cajun Caleb is now Cajun HOT) The place is located in a mom and pop donut store as others have mentioned. The place is small and have about 5 booths. The staff is very friendly hence the reason for 2 stars. Now to the food. which was a total disappointment. I ordered a lot of food 1lb of each peeled shrimp, mussels and clam. and told them to make it as spicy as possible. after waiting for over an hour to get my food, i was even more disappointed that i waited that long for subpar food. It was cold okay it was lukewarm. As for flavor there was none. it wasn’t spicy nor was there really any flavor but a hint of garlic. I’ve been to so many seafood boil places but this was the worse I ever had it. No flavor cold steamed seafood is not my cup of tea. Quality of the seafood prepared was average. The bright side was that they gave us some free donuts but to be frank, i probably wont be coming back to this place. I rather spend a bit more money in other places. I know it wasn’t in their control but there were a bunch of tweakers outside and that kinda killed it for me as well

3.5 stars. Food looked good, clams & shelled shrimps were fresh, seasoning was ok. Came before when it was Cajun Caleb, is now Cajun Hot. More 4-top booths, less garlic on the food. Limes are still juicy and plentiful. Rice was cooked just right, but the corn was a little tough(but at least not overlooked & mushy). All seafood & corn mixed together & served in one pan(not as separate entrees). No AC, & hot sun was shining on me the whole time. Although conveniently close & not crowded, still prefer Boiling Crab for seasonings. Shellfish only here; ironically, nothing fried on the menu(for being located in a donut shop!)

AMAZING! Was craving shrimp and Unilocal led me here. All of the reviews about how good the food is are correct. I will definitely be back for more deliciousness. The owners are nice and even gave my boyfriend and I free hot donuts to try. My god they were delish too. Definitely head over if you are craving seafood or donuts. You won’t be disappointed.

Boiling Crab just seemed to be so far away in the traffic we were stuck in so we settled for this place. To be honest, I didn’t think this place would do it for me but $ 100 bucks later and I’m just as satisfied as I would have been had we driven all the way to The Boiling Crab. Plus, I’m a big supporter of local businesses. This place is definitely the opposite of a mistake and I will definitely be back for more. Complimentary donuts come with an order of Cajun food :) Donuts are also THEBOMB.COM!

I am giving this place a complete 5 star. Don’t let the looks of the place stop you. It is really a hidden gem. I love love their food. It is really better than boiling crab plus theor pricing is way better. Me and my sister tried out their lobster and crab, and it tasted heavenly. Seasoning is way better than boiling crab plus the staff are friendly and accomodating. Its a plus that they sell donit and ice cream(and u have plenty of choices) Cuz after that filling seafood meal ure definitely gonna want some dessert. Overall i love the place and will definitely come back. Highly recommend this place! The. Other good part is, there is ridiculous wait like other restaurants! :) give this place a try and u wont regret it!

Came here last Friday with my toddler for a late lunch. The lady was really sweet. I tried their $ 3 shrimp and rice meal. It was just enough for us. I liked the cajun garlic flavor. Plus, they had bubble gum ice cream which we had, perfect for dessert. Can’t wait till they open one closer to home.

This place seriously deserves the 5 stars. I usually just use Unilocal as a way to find places and I’ve never planned on making any reviews but Cajun Caleb really deserves it. Its actually a donut shop that doubles as the best Cajun seafood restaurant ive ever tried. &ive been to boiling crab, claws and seafood shack. You have the option of getting the shrimp peeled, which i recommend. The rice is amazingly moist and the food tastes home made. The owner was so nice and even gave us free donut holes and free rice refills. In the area or not, give this place a try!

Here’s my two cents on Cajun Caleb: +Good seasoning. I won’t dare to say the seasoning is better than boiling crab but it was good! I really liked how it was way less oily compared to boiling crab. :) +No wait! +They offer everything from crab, lobsters, crawfish, shrimp, muscles, and clams. +Super nice lady with friendly service –Honestly it was hard for me to find Cajun Caleb because it’s inside a donut shop. I had to park the car and walk around for a bit to find the location. –Although I did enjoy their shrimp, I think it could use some more seasonings. –Cajun Caleb’s pricing is slightly more expensive than boiling crab also, which is a downer. :/ Good alternative if you’re having BC craving and you don’t want to drive out but personally I would rather eat at BC.

Cajun Seafood in Lomita?!? Oh hell yeaaah! In my honest opinion, this place does seafood better than anyone around. I’ve been to boiling crab, boiling shrimp, house of seafood, quality seafood, etc. Their saaauce and freshness is top tier. It’s much less oily than the boiling crab style sauces, so you can really enjoy the flavor of the seafood. It’s run by a super friendly, I think, family owned business. You can get everything from snow crab legs, dungeoness crab, lobsters, crawfish, shrimp, muscles, and clams. It’s inside of a donut shop, so it can be hard to miss. Another awesome jewel in Lomita. 5⁄5

Love that this restaurant opened minutes from my house. The owner Stan and his family are extremely hospitable and they run a very efficient establishment. My husband and I tried pretty much everything — Lobster, Snow crab, shrimp, shrimp tacos, and clams. Everything was steamed to perfection and was full of flavor, not too much garlic like other places I have tried(i.e. Boiling Shrimp). I also love that Stan provides all of his recipes on the website, this is a great bonus if you want to recreate the experience at home.
