I think this place is closed. We went there for lunch at noon on a Tuesday and the gates were locked. Poo.

3.5 stars would be my rating. My Gumbo was ok. I loved the andouilee sausage used in the gumbo but it was cooked in a seafood roux not any shrimp, chicken or crab etc. The Étouffée was tasty. The red beans and rice was under cooked and my potato salad was seasoned with to much mustard but the but the service was great. Nice place for lunch not dinner.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. While the staff was nice the food was horrible! I had the Gumbo & Jambalaya and it was the worst I ever had! Now I know why their food is so cheap. If I were you I would pass this place on by.

Located in the a little strip mall, this place matches it’s surroundings as being inconspicuous; don’t let that fool you because you’ll miss out on a unassuming treat. I walked into the place and was greeted with a smile and a heart-felt«hello.» The cook wore a Pittsburgh Steelers hat proudly so I almost walked out but I decided against it; I’m glad I didn’t leave. Looking over the menu, I ordered the crawfish etoufee and a side order of soft-shelled crab. What I received was a meal full of flavor and spice. Served over a bed of rice, the crawfish had a nice amount of heat but not too much to become unbearable. The portion wasn’t big but what it lacked in size was more than made up in the flavor area. The soft-shell crab was much larger than I expected but also very crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The cook was very personable and proud of the dishes he served. He intently watches the customers as they eat his food and will ask what you think of it AFTER you’re done as to not interrupt your meal. If you’re in the area and have a hunkering for some cajun food, try this place but be prepared to wait a little longer; your food is not pre-made and cooked to order all for the best.

I would give this place 3.5 stars. The food was good and definitely a good amount of it for the price, which is always a plus. However, when I went there was only one person working the entire kitchen so it took a while for us to get our food, say 30 minutes or so. There was only one person that had ordered before us. So that’s a bit of a wait, but I suppose for one person to work the kitchen it’s hard work. They should have more than one person manning the kitchen. The guy manning the kitchen had a bluetooth in his ear, so it wasn’t the easiest task in the world to get his attention. Now the food is pretty good. My friend ordered the sausage sampler. Pretty interesting. There was one gator sausage, an andouille, and i dont remember the other sausage. Yes, you did read correctly. I did say GATOR sausage. I sampled all three from my fried. The gator sausage was my favorite. Delish! It was juicy and flavorful. The andouille was pretty good also. The third sausage was definitely different. It was my least favorite, but that doesnt mean it did not taste good. The texture was very soft. A soft interior does not allow for an easy slicing endeavor. I got the shrimp etouffe. My friend really liked it, but to me it was alright. I expected it to have more flavor. It was a little bland for my taste. I got my grandma jambalaya. I tasted it later, and it was pretty good. However, it did taste very tomato-y rather than having a good combination of flavors. Each entrée came with dinner rolls and a very small side of salad. My dinner roll had cheese crusted on it. But the other two entrees didn’t seem to have that. I dont know why. I’ll definitely be back to this place, because price is pretty dang good. And next time i think i’m going to have to try their gumbo!

BTW this place is closed on Mondays. I know. I tried. It’s located just off of the 91 in a little strip mall. Let me list the positive things: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The place is very clean. 3. The staff is very friendly(cute too). The negative: 1. The portions are a tad small. 2. They are slooooow. Unfortunately, I came with a coworker during lunch. Being slow hurt their rating a lot since we spent our lunch time waiting for our food. Since neither of us had been here before and there is no online menu, we couldn’t pre-order. I ordered the oyster po’boy. There were about 7 small oysters in the sandwich making the meat to bread ratio low. It was tasty though. I ordered it with some Cajun spiced fries. Nice. My coworker ordered the catfish. They were out so substituted talapia. My coworker said is was tasty. He ordered it with a side of red beans and rice. This was not a side. It was a taste. It had about a teaspoon of rice with about a tablespoon of red beans. My coworker said everything tasted good but he felt the portions were small and he felt unsatisfied. I also ordered the Bayou Jambalaya with a side of red beans and rice. According to the guy at the counter, it has shrimp, chicken, and sausage. I didn’t see any shrimp. It came with cheese bread. Again the portions seemed rather small. I don’t know how it tasted. I took it home and put it in the refrigerator. When I went looking for it the next day, it had disappeared. Nobody has confessed yet.

Love their fries! Their chicken is delicious. Gotta have it spicy! :) Their breakfast is a deal. The chefs are great people that are proud of their menu. The fries drew me in! LOL!

This place is freakin’ great. The gumbo is amazing. The guys that work here are so cool. They make everything to order– you can even watch and ask questions about how they do it. If you don’t feel like sitting in there and waiting, call ahead. It does get a little warm in their small space. Everything is to go, but you can sit at one of their 2 or 3 tables if they’re available. The guys from the fried chicken place a few doors down will come over and try to steal you away by offering samples. It’s pretty good, but definitely not better than the Cajun Connection! The gumbo is my favorite. The spicy creamy pasta(forget what it’s called) is so good, but it’s so rich I can’t eat much. Everything I’ve tried has been good.

I just went here for lunch and it is the best Cajun food in the South Bay, in fact I would go as far as to say it’s the best Cajun food I have had since I was visiting the South a few years ago. The person who gave this place a mediocre review clearly has never been to the South, has no idea what Cajun food should taste like, or is afraid of flavor. I got the«Taste of Nawlins» sampler platter, catfish, red beans & rice, jambalaya, & gumbo. It was perfect, every single part of the dish. It’s delicious unpretentious food for people who enjoy damn good creole/cajun food. The cashier & cook were both wonderfully friendly, I can’t wait to come back here!

Never knew this place existed until I had their breakfast last weekend. Cajun home fries, eggs, bacon and a biscuit for $ 2. All made from scratch, you can’t beat that. Last night I ventured back to check out their non-breakfast menu. I choose the chicken mozarella po boy with fries(total $ 4.39) and it was delicious! The chef is super cool and obviously takes pride in his work. He made it a point to show another customer and myself our food before bagging it up. Great customer service in my opinion. They also have free Wi-Fi. Brilliant! I will definitely be a regular customer at this joint.

This place has a $ 2 breakfast special that is the best in town. NOT only is the meal cheap but on top of that it’s really really good. You get grits, eggs, bacon, bisquit and a cup of coffee for only $ 2 dollars. Unbelievable and excellent. I go there regulary and can often afford to buy my co-workers breakfast at least 3 times a week. I look forward to the early mornings just so I can go get a breakfast. I recently went for dinner and got the catfish, shrimp etifouee, red beans and rice, and raspberry white chocolate cake. The best meal and prices in the area. I love this place!!!

What a welcome change from the usual sandwich, burger, or teriyaki bowl that seems to dominate this particular area of Carson. This place is a diamond in the rough. Located very close to my work, I’d seen it for about a year and never thought to stop in until I read about it on Unilocal.Based on other Unilocaler reviews, I decided it was worth a shot. ANYTHING to break the monotony of the usual lunch selection. I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by a friendly cashier. He asked if it was my first time there, which it was. He then gave me a free sample of their gumbo(which tasted awesome!). I ended up ordering their«Taste of Naw’Lins», which is sort of a sampler entrée that comes with gumbo, jambalaya, friend catfish, red beans & rice, salad, and fresh-baked biscuit. All the flavors were savory and delicious. Everything was well-spiced. It was like Mardi Gras for the mouth. Since that first visit, I’ve convinced my co-workers to try this place and they all love it. They also have one of the best breakfast deals I’ve ever seen, called«The $ 2 breakfast». For $ 2, you can get two bacon or sausage, 2 eggs, toast, home fries or grits, and coffee. Also, free Wi-Fi. I challenge any other establishment to beat that breakfast deal. Be forewarned, a deal like this comes with a huge crowd of people looking to take advantage of it. Unless you arrive super early, be prepared to wait. Thank God for this place. Can’t wait to go back again!

I have eaten here and the food is pretty good for Nawlins meets California my sisters and I had the fried crab claws — jambalya pasta– and the shrimp etoufee the crab was very flavorful but smaller in size than expected. The portions are large and filling so no complaint there the Gumbo Is the absoulte best Ive had in California other than my aunts I was very excited to try the beingnets which were hand made on the spot but they were over cooked not light and soft like the Café Du Monde product is supposed to be, but they still had the taste and covered in powdered sugar. Over all I like the place its new and needs to work on the beingets but the flavor and feel of the place is nice and pleasant and I look forward to trying more.

I had the Shrimp Po’Boy sandwich with red beans and rice. the sandwich itself was decent. the shrimp was deep fryed, and a little tough. If they kept it a little softer, it would be great. the tomatoes and lettuce didn’t seem 100% fresh, but it wasnt bad. the spread they used was good. and the bread was good too. the red beans and rice were my favorite. slightly spicy but very flavorful. also had a coke. All for $ 11. at first, it felt like a little bit of food. but after I finished, I was very stuffed. I also had a sample of the gumbo. it had a kick to it. and was very delicous. the location had 2 high tables, and bar seating all along the edge. I wouldnt think anyone in a wheelchair could eat there, but they do take out. they accept credit cards too.

*** UPDATE *** I’ve now tried a Poboy from somewhere else and now know that this poboy nasty which leads me to downgrade them from my previous 3 star rating. *** ENDUPDATE *** I have always wanted to try a Po’boy sandwich and today I got my chance. I have seen many food shows on New Orleans and the sandwich always looks so good. Now I have never tried a po’boy sandwich before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ordered the shrimp poboy with a side of red beans and rice. First, the sandwich did not have much shrimp on it. Maybe 8 shrimp total. Now from the shows I’ve seen on TV places in New Orleans make a poboy that is overflowing with shrimp. This was not the case. That was probably my biggest disappointment with this meal. Other then the shrimp it has tomato, mixed greens and I believe mayo on the sandwich. Also, the shrimp had a kind of fishy taste, which is never a good sign. I doubt these shrimp were very fresh. Now the red beans and rice were really good. The side outshone the sandwich! I really liked the texture of the beans and flavor of this dish. Overall, the sandwich was a disappointment. Now I have never have had a po’boy prior to today so I have nothing to compare it to, but I didn’t like this sandwich. I wont order it again. And for $ 8 it was not worth the price. But I give this place 3 stars because the red beans and rice were really good and the sample of gumbo they gave me tasted really good.

They have the BEST gumbo on the WESTCOAST! As a matter of fact everything on the menu is delicious! The staff is friendly and good looking! The place is run by three good looking young brothers! One of whom is an excellent Chef! They have frog legs and alligator… and the Jambalaya is slammin! Everything is cooked to order! This place is a must visit! The most authentic New Orleans food in the South Bay!

YUMMY!!! Freshly made beignets!!! =D The«they just took the dough out and made it from scratch» fresh!!! Also ordered a cajun taco — $ 1 on Wed!!! =) Very good beef w/cajun sauce. Also on their menu – po boys(shrimp, oyster, catfish, sausage)… jambalaya crawfish cakes!!! gumbo!!! They gave me a sampler gumbo — it was better than Emeril’s! You have to try this place… very very good. Definitely reminds me of the yummy foods I had back in naw’lins!
