Other than at festivals, I’ve never really been very adventurous about eating food from food trucks, but when I saw this hand-painted truck with a handmade sign parked in front of La Esperanza Market near Caribou Coffee, I wondered whether the handmade exterior might increase the odds that the food inside would be original and authentic. I had seen a different truck parked at this location in the past but had never tried it. I had to park across the street and«Frogger» across on foot. Anyone who has visited the nearby Caribou Coffee knows that this is a tough area for parking, and Maynard has a raised, concrete median here, which makes it even trickier. The man who served me was friendly and bilingual. I noticed that he sanitized his hands before preparing my food. I’m a vegetarian, so I asked about veggie options and was offered a vegetarian burrito which would include grilled vegetables, lard-free beans, cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and sour cream. After telling me the price($ 7), he emphasized that it was a really big burrito(he wasn’t kidding; it turned out to be enough for two meals). He said that he usually accepts credit cards using Square but apologized that his wife had borrowed his phone that day and so he could only accept cash. The burrito itself was very good. As promised, it was huge and seemingly weighed about 2 pounds. It was a tad on the salty side for my taste(and I often salt my food), but definitely satisfying and flavorful. I would visit again in the future.
