Was in the area stopped to get a Chicago dog. To say the least I was very disappointed. The poppy seed bun was stale and dry and the dog was cold. It was nothing like the Chicago dogs you get in Chicago!

My Reply; Your on line menu at show a large fries at $ 3.19 and large Onion Tanglers at $ 3.99. I was charge $ 3.29 and $ 4.09 respectfully on !2/13/145:29PM as part of a combo, $ 0.10 more each. American cheese was $ 0.59, Pepper Jack cheese was $ 0.89 and chili topping was $ 0.89. Combo’s are normally cheaper than la-a-cart items? Original review follows The prices in store are higher than the menu prices on line? If you do not specify you automatically seem to get a large order of sides about $ 3 to over $ 4 each. Some topping seem very high priced? Over all the food is fairly tasty but the prices of each additional item adds up fast. I only go there a couple of time a year because of the higher prices!

We visit our daughter and family in Cary a couple times a month and always go some place different for lunch. Not any more. We will always go back to Firewurst. My wife and I are both US Navy Retired and have been a lot of places. Firewurst has the best Bratwurst we have tasted since we visited Germany. They have a great«Build Your Own» for burgers and divans most of the add-ons are no extra charge. The food was hot and tasted wonderful. Sweet Potato fries with Nutmeg and brown sugar, Cajun fries, regular fries with Sea salt, all tremendous. I went a little too safe and just got a Big Boy all-beef dog with Dijon and chopped onion and that was really good. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and warm. Prices are really good for Cary. 5 adults ate lunch for $ 40.

Expensive, but good. This is a niche restaurant that has some quality dogs and sausages and such. I’d recommend it!

Don’t bother going to any of these chains if you want to get in and out quickly. You are better of going to the hot dog stand in front of the home improvement stores. Too expensive and too slow for just getting a hot dog! It shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get a basic hot dog. #hangry

More than just a hot dog and brat place. Firewurst has creative takes on dogs, plus sausages, burgers and draft beer. The Bratwurst was very good, burger was solid. They bake their own bread and buns, the Parmesan fries were great. Some outdoor sidewalk seating as well.

My husband and I each got a coupon for a free hotdog at Pigfest. We used one to get takeout, and used the other a few days later to go inside and get the full experience. The food was high quality and delicious. I especially liked the Parmesan fries — it’s so nice to have an option other than just the standard fries everyone else has. The rest of the menu is mostly hotdogs, burgers, and sandwiches, but with enough of a twist to make it interesting. The Bacon BBQ burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. My kids loved the hotdogs and since kids eat free on Wednesdays, we will probably come back pretty frequently. The combo prices are between $ 7 and $ 11, so right in line with other fast casual places.

Had a dog attack. Yep you read that correctly. And when I have a dog attack I have to skid-addle on over to firewater for an epic Chicago dawg(hot dog) to locals. Finish them off with those tasty sweet potato fries. I poor lots of Tabasco on everything to make it even better. Yummy

Overpriced and greasy, even the lite options. The young lady taking orders was pleasant but not very familiar with the menu. The cook, who I think may also have been the owner, was rude. Our bill was $ 50 for 4 people for glorified fast food and we did not over order. The inside was so freezing cold, we went outside to 88 degree heat. In the middle of our meal, the order-taker came outside and headed toward the electric heater — she said the owner insisted she turn it on. I told her not to turn on the heater, and to have the owner come out and speak to us. He never came out. Too bad this is the place my son wanted to try for his birthday.

Good food, but too darn expensive! I liked the hot dog and fries both times I’ve been here, but I just couldn’t do it again for that price. And does a hot dog place really need that many items on the menu? I like my Sabrett or Nathan’s, just a simple chili or kraut dog with mustard. If I stumble across a coupon or someone else treats, then I’ll be back.

Went here with my daughter since we had a gift card; glad we didn’t have to spend our own money. Not a lot of brain power going on at this place. The employee who took our orders seemed totally clueless — we both ordered combos. We sit down and another clueless server proceeds to bring me each part of my combo separately; and my daughter then waited about 10 minutes for her food to come. The food was okay; I can make it better at home myself. Then as we are sitting there we see two employees wrestling in the kitchen area. When we asked if a manager was on duty, they said, «yea, he’s sitting in the back». No management, clueless employees and mediocre food. No return visit for us.

As the Unilocal description implies when I selected two stars for Fireurst definitely sums up my view of it: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Trust me. If you have a hankering for sausage then go to the grocery store(hey Trader Joe’s is right next door practically!) and buy a package of bratwurst or hot Italian sausage or Aidell’s Chicken Apple Sausage some decent hogie bread, an onion, pepper and garlic and grab a bottle of spicy and/or grainy mustard make yourself a far superior sausage than the one’s served here. It wasn’t that it was terrible it was just incredibly lacking to me. Bread was soggy, the sausage had a weird indescribable flavor to it that I didn’t care at all, and as for and the veggies were just soggy and not very flavorful. It probably didn’t help very much that whenI stepped in another customer was making a vocal complaint about his experience on the way out, and can’t say that I blamed him when I was finished.

The place is a bit confusing due to the order-counter being near the back and the front is filled with tables you have to make your way through. If you can make your way past the tables, you will then realize there is a big picture menu on the wall to your left. The dawgs are OK if you’re into that sort of thing but I wouldn’t say they are to die for. IMO the flavor is not worthy of the price.

I came back here and I think the place isn’t as good as it used to be. I got one of the brats and it was TINY. I don’t remember it being that small. The toppings were still good. I got slaw this time w/mine and the slaw was okay. The Carolina dog is probably the best deal.

My family tried this place again. They now have a $ 5 deal. A hotdog, fries and a drink for $ 5. This deal is everyday from 2−5pm. They also have kids meal deals. The place seems to really be trying to find a formula to make things work. The food was just as good as the last time. The wait staff was amazing. The place has a fast food type atmosphere but the staff makes it feel like a more personal experience. It is what will make us return in the future. The one waitress even gave our kids extra cookies. This place seems to really care about the customer instead of how much money they can get out of you. That is rare nowadays.

I love everything about Firewurst except the price. Don’t go there and expect to feed your family for under $ 20. But I think the food and service is worth it if you can afford it. The staff always goes above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. They bring the food to you, bring by little comment cards to fill out, and ask you how your food is. I can’t think of any other quick service restaurants that do this. I love the ambiance. There are silly cartoons all over the walls of famous political personalities. I like that they don’t seem to take themselves too seriously. The interior is colorful and modern. The food is always hot and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried. I usually get the Naked Cali Dog and my husband usually gets a sausage and pepper dog. I was really excited when I heard Firewurst was opening, and it doesn’t disappoint. This location is the original and I think they’ll be really successful if they continue to do what they’re doing. I still think the prices are a bit high, but hey, this is Cary!

It was a warm Saturday night so we decided to take a drive and bring our beloved pet with us to sit outside. I called first to see if they had outdoor tables and they answered the phone with«hello». No identifying the business which I thought was highly unprofessional. The same person who had answered the phone took our orders. I was disappointed to see that once I paid, I saw the case of specialty sodas and he didn’t offer to void my check and re-ring because I had changed my mind. Too inconvenient perhaps and they weren’t busy at all. Hubby went with the cheddar brat and sea salt fries. I went with the sube sube but without sauce and some Cajun fries. Not enough Cajun at all on those boring fries. Hubby was fine with his brat and fries. My sandwich was excellent too. Pricey though at $ 20 for the two of us. WE probably wouldn’t go out of our way to go there again.

As we were leaving Firewurst I was already mentally composing my 5 star review. Why only 4 stars then? Well, I’ve only been once, and I reckon I should confirm my first impression with a 2nd visit. Until then, I can’t think of a good reason for anyone not to try this place out. We took the entire family, which includes our 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son. They’re a handful. But the staff at Firewurst made us feel very comfortable. First thing we noticed — great beers on tap. And an excellent selection of German(and czech?) beers available in the bottle, large litre+ bottles too. I ordered the spicy Italian sausage and it was great. Tons of flavor and the bun it was served in did nothing to take away from the experience. I got a regular order of the sweet potato fries. They were also very good, but maybe had a touch too much cinnamon/spices added. I had a hard time putting them down, so maybe they were just right after all. The kids meal came with a chocolate chip cookie, which made the 3YO behave quite nicely throughout the experience. We had only ordered a dog for the boy, but a server noticed he was sans cookie and brought one over just as he was about to implode. I should note also that as we ordered a cashier came around and setup a table with a high chair for us. Excellent, excellent service. Huge TVs around the place and it was a good time watching NC State take it to Duke. They also have a very nice looking outdoor seating area, which isn’t expected in this Cary shopping center. Can’t wait to take my hot dog fanatic father-in-law to Firewurst so I can upgrade this puppy to 5 stars.

This shopping center is becoming the home of several places I visit frequently(Yuri’s, Massage Envy, Trader Joe’s, Boston Market…) and when I saw that Firewurst was going to open up soon, I made a mental note to stop by the next time I was there. It’s a nice area and there’s plenty of parking! I’ve gone here a few times now and I’ve tried their classic Brat, the cheddar brat, and the Spicy Chicken. My favorite so far has to be the classic brat. Soooo juicy and that nice«crunch» you get when your teeth are breaking through the casing. They have a list of toppings that are free and then there are also toppings you can pay extra for. All are very good. My second favorite would have to be the Spicy Chicken. If you know anything about me, it’s that I LOVE spicy food. And while the Spicy Chicken didn’t fulfill that constant craving I have for spicy foods, it was quite tasty. The sausage itself has chili peppers and seasoning INIT. Most of the time, I’ll run into places that have the same meat, but just throw things on top to make it «spicy» so this was a pleasant surprise. Then, I got the fries with cajun seasoning(notice how I said that… it’s not really«cajun fries» like the ones you get at popeyes where it’s breaded in a cajun batter, then fried… it’s just regular ol’ fries with some cajun seasoning thrown on top instead of salt). I know people are particular about how their like their fries… and so am I. I like my fries skinny(like McDonald’s cut) and SUPER crispy – and the fries here at Firewurst were just that. Excellent! I think next time, I’ll try a different seasoning though. Finally, service. Everyone was awesome! During my second visit, after I placed my order, the cashier gave me a cup and said«how about a beverage while you wait for your food?» Me: SWEET! I know not everyone will get this surprise bonus, and that I won’t get it every time I visit, but it was a nice touch – and a great way to keep customers coming back. They did just open and little things like this help people remember that it’s a place to go. That’s how you do business. And that’s why I gave them 5 stars. =](food on its own was 4 stars!)

It’s probably not a good idea to review a place that serves sausage and dogs when you’re not a real fan of either. However, with that said, I admit to being pleasantly surprised. Sauerkraut. I love it. So when I saw the Reuben dog, I couldn’t resist. I figured with enough of the pickled, fermented cabbage I’d be able to overlook the dog part of it. There wasn’t quite enough of it to make that happen, but what I did get was good. In all fairness, there was just the right amount of sauerkraut and marbled rye and dressing to make it difficult to hate. The onion tanglers were okay — best if they’re really hot, otherwise they tend to taste greasier as they cool. Although the menu has preset options for sandwiches, I was told I could mix and match toppings or even go bunless. I opted not to do that on this first visit. Having recently opened, Firewurst easily had more people working behind the counter than dining during my early evening visit. That made it a bit hectic, but probably a temporary thing. Despite serving the type of food it does, Firewurst doesn’t seem to be fast-food. Everything was being made as it was ordered as near as I could tell from watching several customers order after me. Firewurst is a nice alternative to the usual burger and pizza places in the neighborhood.
