Good food, often locally sourced and sustainable. We especially like the Thurs night tapas special.

Did tapas and pints tonight … the thursday special. Really good food. Best spanakopita I have ever had! The décor is very nice too!

Went here on a weekday night for tapas and drinks with friends. We started off with cocktails. I had the wildberry mojito and thought it was very good. Lots of berries and mint and not overly sweet. We ordered a number of tapas to share including the Garlic and White Bean spread, Pan con Tomate, the Soutzoukakias(meatballs), the Charcutrie, and the cheese plate. My favorite was the garlic spread, but each dish was actually very good. The bartender helped us make some selections knew the menu very well. One of the managers came out and talked to us about the wine list and some of his favorite wines. Overall very good food and service.

I was a little hesitant to try Giorgio after going to their other restaurant in Durham, Parizade. I liked Parizade for the most part, but I was much more impressed with the menu, service, and flavors of Giorgio. My husband and I went there last night for their new Thursday night deal at the bar: $ 2.50 pints and $ 5 tapas. This is an amazing deal since ALL pints are $ 2.50, including those from Big Boss, Lonerider, and Guinness which are normally at least $ 4 – 5 a pint anywhere else. So while enjoying 2 pints of Shotgun Betty myself, we also enjoyed a manchego tomato flatbread, spicy beef(perfectly medium rare) with fennel and cucumber, bruleed scallops with pistachios, a white bean harissa spread with pita, and fresh baked bread and EVOO. Need I say more?! The atmosphere here was also a pleasant surprise. The side«sunroom» area is an eclectic mix of modern, homey, and bright. The bar is dark, more old world, but at the same time modern. Somehow the two rooms work together, very«yin and yang.» It will be hard for somewhere else to beat a 2 beer a piece 4 course, eclectic meal for two that cost about $ 30… Thursday at Giorgio is a deal!

I felt that the service is what made this dining experience worth the time and effort. We went for a UYE restaurant week affair with a small group. The bar service was friendly and quick. We sat there for a little bit waiting for the rest of the group to show up. They had a short list of OK $ 5 wines as their daily special. I wasn’t thrilled about the wine I picked, when we were finally seated, or waiter gave us a wine suggestion that was much better. I was very pleased with that. I’m picky with my wines, if you can nail down my taste, you’re on my «cool» list. The restaurant week menu was limited to chicken or fish(Mahi Mahi) i think. I decided to give the fish a GO as it was local to NC. I wasn’t disappointed. Although I was expecting it to be prepared a different way, the quality of the food was pleasantly surprising. I’m also very picky with my fish, and I will literally spit it out if it has a hint of a fishy taste. I don’t eat food I don’t like and fish is always a risky adventure to me. But it was obvious this fish was VERY fresh and although I wouldn’t put a 5 star label on it for sophistication in flavor, it was very good. Dessert was OK. I ordered the chocolate cake and didn’t finish it. Like I said, I won’t eat it unless I like it. It just wasn’t my type of dessert. I like my chocolate in one of two ways, gooey and accompanied with ice cream, like a brownie a la mode, or rich and dark with substance to the texture. This cake was a little flat and bland for my liking. The place is fairly relaxing. The décor and ambiance are quite different than some of the places we’ve visited in the area. It’s not too loud, unless you’re sitting next to my group, in which case you’ll have to talk over my boisterous laughing… The meal was well worth the $ 25. I was happy with the experience and I would probably ask for the same waiter if I returned.

My favorite of all the Triangle Restaurant Week stops I made in 2010. I made a reservation for our Unilocal group, a party of 8. Then changed it when we became a party of 10. And then called and changed it yet again when we went back to being 8. In the end, it was just 7 of us who made it out — but through the whole back-and-forth the restaurant was really gracious and accommodating. We spent a few minutes in the bar area catching up and ordered off their special $ 5 wine list before heading to our table. The restaurant is a little compartmentalized so I didn’t get to take in as much of the atmosphere as I would have liked… especially given the chic décor. Fellow diner, Jen, pointed out that elements were similar to Heather Garrett’s style and I concur. It’s the sort of place you want to steal paint swatches and interior design ideas from. Our server was completely on his A-game. Started off by letting us know that the restaurant sources local ingredients for many of their dishes, but also pointed out which items(such as fish) came from elsewhere and why. I started off with the carrot-ginger soup; it had a nice flavor, kind of curried and some texture to it. Didn’t blow me away, but it wasn’t bland and it sufficed. The second course, I went for the chicken and ratatouille. The fish entrée had sounded really good, but I’m so glad I changed my mind at the last minute and went with the chicken. It was tender and juicy and the ratatouille, an interesting accompaniment. This was my first time trying the dish, but I liked the spicy, slightly tangy flavor. I must also mention that the portions here were full, unlike some of the other restaurants that seemed to be scaling down their Restaurant Week offerings. Capped things off with the chocolate cake, topped with mint whipped cream(a nice touch!). This cake was a cross between cake-y and mousse-y if that makes any sense. Lighter than a fudge-like cake. Good, but I have to say I’m more about some dense, rich chocolate. Though this was admittedly more appropriate for the season! I’m intrigued enough to come back and try some of their other offerings. Cary, I got to hand it to you, you’re alright…

I went here with my wife for a rare evening out without my daughter. I drive by it all the time but had never gone in. The place itself is incredible. Very nice and eclectic interior. My wife loved it. The food was pretty good but not 5 star good. I had Mahi Mahi which my server said was ‘swimming that morning’. It was very good. My wife had roasted chicken which I thought was good but not outstanding. We had sweet potato falafels for an appetizer which didn’t live up to my expectations. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Overall I’ll probably be back.

Went there when it first opened. food was great, staff was busy, to the point where we would have liked to have seen our waiter more… Plan on trying them again. They seem to be busy at night and are doing lunch.

Giorgio is definitely worth trying. We had delicious meals there on a busy Friday evening. The service was excellent. We will definitely return. The only complaint was the small tasteless olives served in the martinis. Other than that it was very good. It was quiet when we arrived but gets a little noisy when the restaurant fills up. The décor is unique and is quite different from the décor used in previous restaurants that have been in this location.
