Oreck Clean Home Center

Not a great experience with this place.
Took my vacuum in for an inspection and was told about what could be done to have my vacuum working like new again. The price was reasonable so I agreed. I was told it would be about 5 days and that I would be called when it was ready.
After 6 or 7 days, I called in to see what was going on and then was told there were 40 vacuums ahead of mine still and the part they needed hadn’t arrived, so it would likely be another 3 – 4 days. Frustrating that they couldn’t see (or maybe tell me) how many other repair jobs were ahead of me, and that they didn’t call me at any point to let me know of the delays.
They called me a couple days later to say the repairs were done and that it was working like new. When my wife went to pick it up the woman at the counter asked if she wanted to turn it on to try it out, so she did. Now the brush wasn’t spinning. Hm? how can it be working like new without a spinning brush? Then they tell us that the motor is burnt out and needs to be replaced. Now the vacuum works WORSE than before, and they also wanted us to pay for the work they did. In the end, we only paid for the new part we got, but that was after some arguing the point.
Ended up having to buy a new vacuum (not from there, though).

I had been having trouble using my almost new Oreck XL Shield steam cleaner-​it is difficult to use and is not good at cleaning) — when I asked if they stood by their product with any kind of exchange or trade-​up program they said I could only get $ 50 toward a new model (I had paid $ 300 for this one and used it twice). I told them that I was really disappointed and am used to a higher quality product from Oreck. Not only did I not get any interest in my dissatisfaction, no «I’m sorry you aren’t satisfied» but the one man sarcastically said «You can’t take a car back after six months, can you?» Actually several companies and retail stores offer a no-​questions asked return either with cash or credit. I understand that they don’t make the rules, but the attitude was flip and insulting. I will not go back to this store again.
