My wife and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and chose Ruth Chris because of good past experiences. Our usual restaurant in Durham near South Point small was booked up so we tried the Cary location. We made our reservation through open table for 9:00 pm. When we arrived at 8:50 we noticed a large number of people waiting at the reception desk and at the bar. We were told we would be seated shortly. At about 9:15 I spoke with the hostess who told me they were backed up due to restaurant week and we would be seated shortly. I was also told there were 5 reservations to seat ahead of ours. It took them 40 minutes to seat us with not one apology from management for having to wait. We also asked for a secluded table and instead were seated half booth, half table that was lined up with 4 other tables full of guests sharing the booth side. My wife ordered the petite steak and I ordered the cowboy rib-eye. When our entrees came out the waitress had entered a petite steak for both of us. I chose to wait for them to cook the entrée I ordered which took about 8 minutes to come back out. Finally when my entrée came out the fat was barely cooked and the medium rare I ordered was more like rare. I would actually say it was more on the raw side, probably because they were rushing to get it out to me as fast as they could. Even with all of this we still never saw a manager nor were we offered any type of compensation for our horrible experience. For $ 175 dollars for the dinner I would have expected a better experience. I will say that we did get a free desert for celebrating our anniversary which was nice and the food overall was very good, minus the poor attempt at the steak. I ended up taking the steak home and turned it into a good lunch the next day. The staff was generally polite and fast, again minus our long wait to be seated. And of course the company is what made the evening great. We will probably stick to the Durham location for now on.

Good spot for drinks, dinner and conversation. The salmon may have been a bit under cooked for my taste. Great staff

Love their filet & sweet potatoes. We took the kids and they enjoyed the steak from kids menu which included a dessert.

I have been here a number of times, my son loves this place. The service is always great, food never disappoints. I don’t know why, I just think for this money that there is something missing. Like III Forks Steakhouse, they come to the table with a tray full of tomatoes. Lights are dimmed at Ruth Chris, service has generally been great but I just think for the money, there should be something more, it feels like a cliché… sorry, thats my opinion. You will probably loveit. It is romantic and they do aim to please. Food is very good…

We were here for an investment dinner. The servers were all very friendly and helpful. After the speaker did his thing for an hour, service began. We started with a salad of greens, cherry tomatoes and red onion. It had a delicious creamy Italian dressing. Main course was the petite filet cooked to a perfect medium rare. This place has never disappointed on the quality of steaks. Sooooo Goooood !!! Sides were creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. Both sides were served family style. Delicious !!! Dessert was cheesecake served with fresh berries on the side. Once again — a home run !!! Although pricey, this steakhouse never disappoints.

One steak sent back to be cooked to what we ordered. Broccoli sent back cause it was raw. Pittsburged steak was perfect. Bottle of Tobacco Road Cellars, 2008, Vitality Cab was $ 190. Can you say overcharge us? I see it on line for $ 89.99!!! So more than double Oysters were great. Shrimp cocktail(4) very good. Service is always great. Desserts very good. Manager wouldn’t let me vape. Really?

We haven’t been to Ruth’s Chris for about 5 years and thought we’d try it again. We won’t be there again that’s for sure. If you only have 2 people in your party, they put you by the back wall where you are practically on top of the other people. You can literally touch them! For the price they are charging you’d think it would be a little more intimate but they are trying to crowd everybody in. I had the Lobster bisque soup, steak and chocolate sin cake. A couple of hours later I was in the bathroom all night sick. My husband wasn’t able to eat his chocolate cake so we took it home and put it in the fridge. When we took it out to temper it, we saw 3 nice long fingers on it(the humidity brought out the prints). Maybe the used gloves to put it in the box, but you’d think they would use a cake server to put it in the box and try not to touch the cake. I’ll stick to my favorite place, Rey’s.

Had plenty of food for me and my hubby ordering the $ 60 special. They split the salad for us which was nice. The greens were fresh and the balsamic vinegarette was nice and creamy. Was a little disappointed in the toppings(only ½ tiny cherry tomato per plate and no cukes). The green beans were perfect. Could have come out warmer though and the bottom of the bowl was really salty. The steak was awesome. They cut it in half for us and it was still plenty(16 oz ribeye and served on a hot plate to hold the warmth). Service is always great and friendly. Love the flame less candles on the table and cloth linens. Cheesecake was creamy and liked the Oreo crust.

We live in Durham and always come the RC Cary location. Better setting and lounge. Also less noise filters into the dining area from the lounge at the Cary location. The Durham location has no buffer area between the dining room and lounge. We had evening reservations for Easter dinner. We had a wonderful server, Bailey, who was prompt and explained everything. Lobster bisque and wedge salad was perfect, as was the petite filet and ribeye. We were too full for dessert so we ordered ours to go: chocolate sin cake and their famous bread pudding. We arrived home later to find the bread pudding was substituted for banana cream pie. I live for the bread pudding. I tried calling them but by the time we arrived home, they were closed. I will call them tomorrow and return their banana cream pie(which tasted awful; I tried one bite) for the bread pudding. Yes, it is that good. Other than that snafu, dinner was lovely.

I had the pleasure of being rudely kicked out of a parking spot by management 4 hours before this location opened. There is no signage to note this is valet or «management» parking. If you are familiar with this parking lot you know that spots are limited. I am shocked that a manager would be as rude as this person was to me. Ruth’s Chris you may have great steak but for this location, please do not ever expect for me to spend my hard earned money at your establishment.

This is absolutely the worst upscale steak house my wife and I have been to. Service was not good but that’s another story. Let’s talk about the lousy steak and food. I hope it’s this location’s issue only. We had 3 people in group and all dishes were VERY salty, including all three steaks(a Filet, a T-bone and a Ribeye) and two appetizers(mushrooms, green beans) except the 3rd appetizer Potato Au Gratin was not as salty. However, the potato dish was under-cooked and several pieces were near raw and crunchy. We politely explained the potato situation to waiter but she didn’t apologize or try to explain, just asked later whether we’d like to box it. I guess she doesn’t care. About the steaks … I believe the beef quality is good however the chef likely don’t know how to cook them. All flavor was only at outside(again, VERYSALTY) and when we worked into center it’s rather plain and tasteless. The T-bone was ordered for Medium but it came out like Medium Rare. We gently hinted this to waiter as well but again she didn’t care. My wife eventually decided to box the rest and took it home. The food as well as service are just disappointing. We quietly paid the due tip 15%(well, she has to make a living, too, it’s not totally her fault) and left. WILLNOTGOBACK to Ruth’s Chris again, ever. Update 1÷21÷2015 Ah, there is one more thing about the steaks, as I am being reminded. All the steaks we ordered: filet, t-bone and ribeye, were all swimming in and flavored with butter. That somewhat explained the salty exterior to cover up the tasteless meat.

I wouldn’t ordinarily give 5 stars to a RC, but this particular location deserved it. My bf and I went on a quiet night so it wasn’t busy at all so we were seated immediately. We let our waitress, Amy, know we were on a time constraint, and her and the team were very understanding and helpful. The manager asked if my pork chop could be butterflied to meet the time constraint which was so considerate. Now every time I go to RC I will order my pork chop butterflied because it was delicious. BF ordered the ribeye, but we both agreed that pork chop was flavored better. Probably because the ribeye is seasoned with just salt & pepper, while the pork chop has a lot of other seasonings. I’ve had the steak and pork chop at the RC in Baltimore and I always said if I go back I would go with the pork chop. Sweet potato casserole is divine and I will ALWAYS order this there. Asparagus was fresh and yummy. Had a grapefruit margarita that was yummy as well. Thank you Amy and team for a great dinner and service!!!

We decided to return to Ruth’s Chris on Christmas Eve,…this time with our 2 children. Was not sure how that was going to work out, but it turned out great! For the kids we ordered the chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were very flavorful(I had to snatch a taste from my daughter’s plate) and the fries were of the ‘shoestring’ type so very thin and crunchy. They were also good as there was not much(if any) salt on them so you could really taste the potato flavor. The kids liked the meal and had no complaints. As for the service, well, it’s what we expected and received everytime we go. We were able to sit in our usual round corner table(we didn’t request it, but liked the fact that they still was able to get us the table) and was waited on promptly and courteously from the moment we sat down. The manager, Gregg came by a couple of times to see how our night was going and we also talked about how we were planning to spend the holidays. It was good to talk to him about the food/service, but also we liked the sharing of some of his personal life. It’s not expected, but he felt comfortable with us to share so we definitely appreciate it. A lady named Michelle(hope spelling is correct) also came by a few times and spoke with us. We did not remember her title, but she was very nice and engaging with our children(a big plus in our book). We keep telling ourselves that one of these days we’ll order something different on the menu for the entre, but that night was not it. We decided on the 11 oz filet, the lobster macaroni and the brocolli au gratin. The filet was cooked as desired and of course arrived sizzling on the plate. As usual, it melted in the mouth and was fork tender. I had asked for some chopped garlic and butter to top it(I LOVE garlic) and that made a great steak even better. The lobster macaroni is not always on the menu, but we had it before and loved it so we had to try it again. This time the side was prepared a little differently than before. This time the macacroni had huge(1 – 1.5 inch) pieces of lobster mixed in with the macaroni instead of the smaller sized pieces we previously had. The sauce was not as rich as the last time we had it, but it was still very good. My wife really liked the flavor, but I have to admit, I missed the extra richness of the previous time we had it. «To each his own»…It was still very good though, just different! Definitely recommend to get it when it’s avaialble. To sum it up, we all had a good time, the kids were happy and full, they were talking with the staff members and enjoyed themselves. The food was top notch as before and the service great as usual. Thanks to the statf for all of the work they put into to help provide another great night for us. We’ll be back again, maybe before our anniversary this time.

My husband took me to Ruth Chris for my birthday today/. It was my first time. the restaurant was almost empty as we had an early dinner. I love jazz and they were playing some really great music in the background and with the beautiful dining area and the dimmed lights it was rather romantic. They even put rose petals on the table which was a very nice touch. We started our meal with salads. My hsuband had a Cesar and I had a strawberry, blue cheese and almond salad. The blue cheese was not overwhelming at all, just a perfect balance of flavors. I know it’s a steakhouse but I love seafood. I REALLY love scallops, so that’s what I ordere. Four came with the order, but these were huge. Scallops, Tuna and Salmon are all seafood items that are my favorites but they take a high level of cooking skills to cook without over cooking. Ruth Chris Delivered. They were amazing, seasoning was just right, seared to perfection but the best part? They were tender and just melted in your mouth. they came with a medly of corn and sauteed spinach. I also had chipotle potatoes. My husband had the herb crusted Halibut which was served ontop of a sliced seared potate and he had portabello mushrooms as his side dish. and he had a huge portion of fish. Halibut is one of my favorite fish and once again cooked to perfection. the food was seasoned so well that neither of us required salt or pepper. I love that because how often do you eat out and it’s either almost bland or too salty, too sweet or too something. They put some thought and care into these meals and that is as it should be when dining out. We were very happy with everything including the service. Our server Katie was just a sweetheart and the manager and other servers came over to say hello or check ot see if we were enjoying our dinner experience. I love a staff that shows appreciation for your support of there establishment. Customers should always be appreciated because there are so many choices we can make, and so if you are there eating, you chose them. I also got the happy birthdays — and a free slice of cheesecake. So very nice. The ONLY reason I do not give Ruth Chris five stars is the price. My husband did not seem bothered by the prices but I personally thought it was a little over priced for what is at the end of the day a chain restaurant. Now If I was in NY at some high end, one of a kind restaurant known for it’s cuisine and culinary decadence, I probably would not complain but a chain restaurant in NC? Too expensive in my opiinion for the average couple or the average family. Perhaps someone at Ruth Chris is saying — dumbo it is not for average people. If that is the case. okay then lool. But again, I was very, very happy with my birthday dinner and in the end the one reason I would go back? Tender Scallops for sure. I have not had scallops like that since I moved here in 2006. I have ordered them at other place but they have not been this good. The second reason I would go back is to try the steak. duh. If I ever do that I will update my review. Who knows maybe the steak is so good, I will change my four starts to five? We shall see.

Need a mini-romantic getaway? Then Ruth’s Chris has got you covered. From the dimly lit dining area, to the buttery meat and exceptional service, they were really outstanding in making sure our experience was perfect. I came with my boyfriend for my birthday and we both ordered from their three-course ruth’s classics menu. From the moment we were seated, this place continuously exceeded my expectations. Even their corn chowder was super flavorful. I mean, come on, how can a soup be so tasty? I ordered their filet medium rare(because I don’t dare risk the possibility of having an overcooked/dried out piece of meat) and I’m pretty sure that was the juiciest/most tender/luscious piece of steak I ever ate. Also, their chipotle fingerling potatoes were really savory and creamy(definitely get this side dish with your entrée) Their red berry lemonade cocktail was sweet and fruity– plenty of bits o’ berries swimming around in the drink and a decent amount of alcohol in it too! It was so yummy that I may or may not have drank it all a bit too fast… Yes, this place is expensive. But you really do get what you pay for. Our server made sure we were taken care of, the atmosphere was elegant, and the food was top-notch no doubt!

First time for me at Ruth’s Chris so I expected the prices. The reviews said so much about the service so I expected a lot there. The attention was a little lax I thought. Took a while to get a drink after they brought water. The baked bread was sliced, but not all the way so tearing the bread was inevitable. But the food was wonderful. Even the Caesar salid was to die for. I had corn chowder which was very good, but it all was good. The 11 Oz steak is just too big, I got the 6 Oz and lobster. Great. Several drinks each and we went over $ 100 each. I would go back, but not often.

I haven’t been a Ruth’s Chris fan in the past. The a la carte pricing and the relative value of the meal just don’t appeal to me, even if the steaks are fantastic. That being said, I’m a newly converted fan of the bar menu, and even a bigger fan of the happy hour pricing in the bar. We had a great meal in the bar — steak sandwich and crab BLT for the two of us – and a couple of drinks. It was the tail end of happy hour, and the food was an outright bargain at something like $ 9 for each item. The regular bar price is around $ 14. Drinks were expensive, but that wasn’t a surprise. I’ve got to say — the food was fantastic — and just what we wanted in terms of price, quality, taste and portion size.(If you have to tell me how big the steak is, I’m just not that interested).

I’m giving it 5 stars to offset some of the other«off» reviewers. Facts people: 1) You’re gonna spend money… get what you pay for, it’s worth it 2) Why even expect good service during restaurant week 3) It’s Ruth’s Chris… there’s going to be butter, the servers will tell you if it’s your first time. Heres what, just ask for no butter. So, onto the experience we had. Sunday early dinner, decided to sit at the bar. Kerri was super attentive to us. Kudos to her for checking with the chef on some customized things we ordered. Got the calarmari(I know, why get it at a steakhouse but it was done perfectly), lamb(which my wife and I split… got one double medium well and two others medium rare… nice to accommodate us), spinach, and some wild mushroom. Everything was fantastic. All the years i’ve been coming to a Ruth’s Chris… if they don’t do it to the way you like it, they’ll eat the cost of whatever $ 50 steak you ordered and make you a new one :)

Ruth’s Chris falls somewhere between three and four stars. It borders on being a «chain» restaurant, and while I generally find the steaks there tasty, I’m not overwhelmed at all. One of my pet peeves is steak places that advertise«corn fed». Cows do not naturally eat corn. Their bodies are designed to consume grasses. It’s sort of like advertising that«our people are fed a regular staple of TV dinners …» That said, though, I generally find their dishes tasty and well executed. I generally don’t venture beyond the red meat dishes with one or two sides; when I do I’ll come back and edit my review accordingly.
