After waiting 15 minutes and seeing parties be seated that came after us I asked the hostess for an update. They let me know they called my name already, which they hadn’t because I was standing there with a party of 4 the whole time. Instead of owning up to the mistake they continued to tell me I didn’t come when called. From there the service went downhill. The waitress messed up our drink order, never came and refilled any waters, and our meals didn’t come out together, one was 5 minutes after everyone had started eating. The food was your standard brunch but the service ruined it. With all the great brunch spots in RDU area this is one I wouldn’t recommend taking the time to try.

My girlfriend and I decided to go out to breakfast this morning. Normally I cook but today we wanted to treat ourselves. We didn’t want to wait an hour to be seated at Brigs so we decided to try someplace we both had never been. We agreed on the egg and I. We arrived around 10:30 and were told it would be a 5 – 10 minute wait and after about 10 minutes our table was ready. Sweet. We were seated and the server promptly greeted us and took our beverage order. The coffee came and our food order was placed. I ordered the pinapple pancake special and my girfriend ordered the two egg breakfast. The rainforest blend coffee which was brought to us in a carafe was tasty. So far so good. That’s where everything went down hill. So our order was placed at approximately 10:50…11:47 was the next time someone came to our table and it wasn’t even our waitress. Our beverage runner told us that the printer went down and our order got lost so we needed to order again and they would expedit our food. HERE’S A TIPMANAGEMENT: If the server had been more attentive this could have been avoided. OK order has been placed again and«expedited». 5 minutes later a manager comes to our table and apologizes for the mishap and offers us grits, a fruit cup or hash browns. Umm, no thanks on the grits and fruit cup but we already ordered hash browns an hour ago and we are still waiting. Again, we were assured that our food was being expedited and would be ready soon. So at NOON I noticed a couple leaving that had arrived after us. They had finished their meal and we hadn’t even seen ours. All we had were empty bellys and empty promises. At that point we decided it was time to go. We were hungry. How ironic is that… leaving a restaurant because you are hungry. In my opinion the staff here is poorly trained and the management has no control of the kitchen. Sorry I can’t tell you what I thought of the food.

Our first visit… Must admit when we first arrived we had to wait a bit for a waiter but it was well worth the wait as we got the infamous Kristina that has been mentioned previously and she was a class act. The food was awesome. Great eggs and we ordered crispy bacon and got it! Service and food was 100% satisfaction.

The fist time my scrambled eggs arrived they were uncooked. The replacement was more done but had a strange consistency. The raisin french toast was okay but the first time it arrived it was stone cold. The replacement was burned. it was Sunday and they were very busy so that might have been part of it. But I do not think we will go back

Great food, snappy service and a nice atmosphere; we go most weekends as a family and we’ve never had a problem. I love the blueberry pancakes with compote –made with real blueberries

I’ve been to The Egg & I several times in the past few weeks and I have nothing but praise for both the food and the quality of service. The pancakes are massive, quite literally the size of dinner plates and just as remarkable in taste. This is especially evident in the cinnamon apple granola pancake. I’ve also enjoyed their omelets and many of their side dishes. The bacon and sausage is fantastic, the eggs magnificent and the fruit couldn’t be better. On the beverage side of things is the coffee. What can I say for the coffee but that I haven’t had better since I first tasted the southern pecan offered by The Egg and I. The flavors are brilliantly balanced and perfected blended to deliver an experience that will have you coming back for more. I highly recommend The Egg & I and especially our server Shirley. I can safely say that she is one of the best servers I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The only reason I give this restaurant five stars is because it is impossible to give more.

This place is simply amazing. Very great exceptional customer service. The food is BOMB! Highly recommend it. The apple cinnamon granola pancakes was extremely orgasmic and the southern pecan coffee complimented the food nicely. I will be back ! If your server is Shirley Stanley you will be truly satisfied ! Kristina is super and the hazelnut coffee is very good. Eggs benedict, denver omlette prepared to perfection and served really hot. Dined at around 11:15 on a weekday. 20% Veterans discount will bring me back, for sure.

Without a doubt the place to eat breakfast. I’m sure lunch is just as good but haven’t this far. The food is always incredible and extremely hot when served(which I find is rare). Definitely a family environment. Maddy has served us each time and her attentiveness and friendly personality goes a long way. I won’t eat at another restaurant for breaks at again. It’s now only The Egg & I.

Food is 5 stars for sure, when it comes out right. Service is maybe 2 stars. We have been there 5 times now. Only one of the 5 times have we had good service and good food with no problems. Our first visit, the manager pulled my wife’s food before it came out because it was not done ‘to their standards’ and remade the order. They in turn served me a dead biscuit and a burned tortilla that somehow passed their standards, which they quickly fixed, and her meal came out about 5 minutes later. I commend them for doing that, but there is no excuse for how horrible the service is. Twice we have gone in and had to wait more than 5 minutes to even get the attention of anyone at the front door to seat us — maybe 10 tables in use each of those times. I think one of the reasons for the bad service is that they give you a small pitcher so you can refill your own drinks. I think the wait staff knows they don’t need to do refills, so they never come to check up on you. I like having the extra drinks, but when there is stuff wrong with the order — like not having eggs on a salad that says they have them at a restaurant that is call the Egg & I, is pretty bad. That, and it took 10 minutes to get a hard boiled egg back out — mind you there were only 2 tables in use on our side of the restaurant. When the egg did come out, no yolk. As much as I dread having to deal with the staff here, the food is just too good not to go back. Once the orders come out right, the food is usually excellent. There is no excuse for serving burned french toast in a kid’s meal — by flipping the burned side down — as if a picky child is not going to notice that right away. I probably should give less of a rating based on our experiences, but I hate to harm the new restaurant with a bad review when the food really is great — when it is done right. I am hoping this is just a result of the staff coming up to speed. We will give them another shot for now. I will update my review if it needs to be changed on the next visit. Oh, and all of our visits were during the week around lunch time. We have seen the lines out the door on the weekend, and knew we did not want to wait. During the week, we have never had to wait for a seat to open, only had to wait to be seated, wait for order to be taken, wait even longer to get the bill… and even wait standing at the front hostess stand to find someone that we could give our money to. Definitely worth checking out, but just make sure you have enough time on your hands for the lack of service. Just be patient, if you can.

I went to The Egg and I this morning for brunch before a shopping trip with my date and it was a great experience! Our server Bethane was amazing! I’m ashamed to admit that I had never tried grits before and she brought us out a sample to try! I had the Viva la France french toast with ranch potatoes eggs and a dark roast coffee. My date had biscuits and gravy eggs bacon and ranch potatoes. If your restaurant has Egg in the title, you better cook some good eggs. Those were the best eggs we have had in a while. Service was quick, and server was attentive. I have no complaints about this place. Hostess, manager, and ESPECIALLY Bethane were all amazing. We will be coming back!

We visited The Egg and I today. It’s great to see a restaurant with happy and inviting staff! The food is really good. Our only complaint was that everything was cold. This was our second time eating here and the second time everything was cold.

Our 2nd visit was on a Sat mid-morning. No line! We brought 4 other adults and one 2 year old. Our server was fantastic. She obviously enjoys people and was sincerely friendly. She took time to ask questions fir each order to be sure she had all orders right. Three of us ordered the large Belgium waffels and theyalived them!

The food we had was very good. However I was sad that they had no baked goods. No muffins or sweet rolls and sometimes that’s all I want for breakfast is a cup of coffee and a muffin so that part was a little bit disappointing but the eggs that we had were delicious.

I was not excited about going to the Egg & I for brunch with my girlfriends but in the end I liked it a lot and definitely recommend trying it when craving a breakfast out. I loved the blueberry pancakes with blueberry compote — the compote is made with real blueberries and reminded me of the fabulousness of the berry compote on the breakfast bar at Whole Foods. The rest of my friends got omelets, waffles, eggs, etc and we were all happy with the food. The wait to be seated was shorter than originally quoted — I think they said 25 minutes but it was closer to 15. Service was good.

Had breakfast here in November 2015. The staff worked hard to ensure my visit was satisfying; too bad they have no control over the food because it fell well short of satisfying. My breakfast crossant was basic and rather bland, but flavorful on a relative basis when compared to the potatoes which were nearly flavorless. Honestly, they were nothing more than rough-chop spuds warmed up … nothing more. I would have assigned 2 stars but for the exceptional service and attention.

We went for Sunday brunch around 9:30 am. We got right in with no wait. Our waiter Josh was great! I ordered the spinach bacon and mushroom omelette with grits. My husband had the eggs Benedict. My omelette was great. The problem was that my husband’s was very cold. He ate it but you can tell that there is inconsistencies in the food quality. We will be back but probably stick with the omelettes.

My parents came to Cary to visit me and stayed in a hotel right by this restaurant. They couldn’t convey enough praise for their server, Kristina or the supervisor, Amanda. Simply stated, they had a 5 star experience and enjoyed some 5 star food!

My boyfriend and I have been to The Egg & I twice, and the two experiences were vastly different. Our first visit was awful. We ordered our food, and 45 minutes later we still had nothing. When we asked our waitress, she offered us a «free drink» or fruit cup while we wait. We already had sweet tea, so I’m not sure what she was going to give us. She then told us that a fuse had blown in the kitchen. We finally flagged down the manager, who promptly brought us our food. I asked about the blown fuse, and he said that the waffle station had blown a fuse. Neither one of us ordered waffles. The manager was fantastic; he comped our meal(it had been about an hour and a half at this point), and he checked on us several times while we were eating. We almost left before getting our food, and I’m glad we didn’t because the food was amazing. I had the crabcake benedict, and my boyfriend ordered the huevos rancheros(the ones with the refried beans). We went back again this past weekend, and it was so much better. My boyfriend ordered the same thing, and I chose the Parisian benedict. Basically, you can’t go wrong with their eggs benedict. Again, the food was fantastic. It’s a good price, and the quality is great. We’ll definitely continue eating at The Egg & I.

Breakfast. I like breakfast. Nearly any time of day is good for having it. Not all places do a good, or even decent, job of it, so I’m always willing to explore. Having driven past Egg & I on the way to and from Crossroads, sometimes feeling in the breakfast frame of mind, I was glad to see it finally opened. I stopped in shortly after they opened for the day one morning. It was a bit awkward as there was an employee meeting and I had to wait for one of them to break away, but it was good to see the enthusiasm amongst the staff. I’m sure it was hard for my server to listen to both me and the manager as he gave advice and went over the day’s topics with everyone else. I started with the coffee. As I’ve bypassed ordering coffee of late, owing to lackluster brews, this was a pleasant surprise. It was good. It had real flavor and I don’t mean the kind of flavor reminiscent of dishwater or brewed metal shavings. [Yes. There are some places with coffee that tastes like that. It ruins the entire experience.] The menu is varied, more so than I had expected, and it was tough to decide. Ultimately, I chose the breakfast burrito. It came out quickly. And that’s where the experience fell off the track. The food, when it arrived, was cool. Not lukewarm, but not quite refrigerator cold, either. The guacamole was brown and had a taste — as if it had been refrigerated uncovered next to something else in the refrigerator, so I scooped that off to the side. I’m not a send-the-food-back to the kitchen person, so I went ahead and ate what I had. The only reason I did so, rather than just leave it, is that it was good. The mix of green chilies, onions, and sausage is perfect. The ranch potatoes on the side are good as is the fruit cup. By now, I’d be asking another reviewer — why 4 stars? Despite the temperature of the food, it was good — really good. The way the server and manager handled it when I told them, was superb. There were many apologies by both the server and the manager, both of whom offered to take it back to be warmed. Despite the awkwardness(for me) of all of that, I was impressed. There was no attitude and no excuses, just an attempt to correct a problem in a pleasant way. Four stars for the tastiness of the food and the great customer service.

I did the pre-grand opening complimentary breakfast/lunch run. I had the Belgian Waffle eggpress. It was filling. The waffle was a little doughy in the middle but the whole point of this test run was to help them work out the kinks and improve serive/quality. Eggs and chicken sausage were good. I liked the fact that you can substitute pork bacon for turkey bacon or chicken sausage options with no extra charge. The place was cheerful, staff friendly. I learned this is a national chain with just 2 locations in NC, Chapel Hill and now Cary, NC. Since I am not a brunch person much, I probably won’t return, but for other looking for an option, you may want to give it try.
