I’ve been ordering from Pizza Express on Center St. since 2008 and the pizza has been consistently excellent. It is because they use quality ingredients and do the same thing every time. I have eaten in and ordered out and have never had any of the problems that some of the bad-reviewers have shared. I really enjoy the N.Y. style of Arinell in Berkeley and the thick pies of places like Zachary’s, but for the American style I’ve had a hard time finding better than Pizza Express. I also love the fact that they are a family run, local business.

Best pizza in CV, very friendly owners and always on time with delivery. There is another location on Redwood Road, both are good but Center Street is better.

Best Pizza in Castro Valley. Amazing crust. Call ahead they have it ready for you. Delivery always on time. Place is always packed but the owners make you just want to keep coming back. Also the prices are reasonable.

Half decent pizza but the owner of this place is so creepy!!! If you are a young girl or woman don’t go here. Opened my sisters car door, looked inside, and when she questioned him he laughed and said he wanted to get a reaction from her. What kind of business owner are you??? Liked this pizza but finding a new pizza spot pronto!

Good enough pizza for the area(which isn’t saying too much, but still). Every time I call, the person on the other end is always cordial, which helps in making me call again in the future. The one downside is the price. The listed price on the menu is different from what they charge you, so I always end up asking how it all adds up. The tactic is a little shady to say the least.

This place is a joke. They show up ½ hour late with cold food and then offer $ 4 off the order? Unbelievable. I’ve been ordering from them for years. I am so done with this place. They have mediocre pizza on a good day but when you couple that with extremely poor service… Well, what’s the point, really? Honestly, Pizza Hut, Round Table, frozen pizza, an old shoe or a trip to the DMV would be more appealing than ever ordering from this place again. Lost a long time customer. Congratulations clown college.

Pizza by the slice, and it was DELICIOUS! Super clean place, and super friendly family run business. Feels great to support the local mom-n-pop businesses. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the mood for pizza.

My family always orders pizza from here. We’ve tried other places in CV but this is our favorite. Their regular dough is good, not too chewy but we prefer their thin crust. Great amount of toppings, cheese, and sauce. Their regular prices are a bit steep but if you use their coupons(2 med, 5 toppings each for $ 20!) then its a great price. They also do pizza by the slice at good prices if you’re with a group that can’t decide on toppings: P The workers have always been nice to us and we’ve never had problems with paying but we always pay cash with small businesses and we always pick up. Definitely worth a try.

1.) They charged us higher than the prices presented on their menu. They did not provide us with an itemized receipt. 2.) The store was dirty 3.) When we arrived home(yes, we should have checked before we left with our pickup) we found that our BBQ wings had NO sauce on them, and they were cold. When my husband called the store, we were connected to another store where they said they would contact the store we picked up from. They called us back and offered to bring us the sauce or give us a discount. Seriously? Most businesses would offer to refund your money or give you a new set of wings done correctly. We asked them to bring us the sauce. They asked for our address, and directions to our house! You are the restaurant, look it up! An hour later someone showed up at our door with new wings(thank you) but had us give him the old ones back(?). There are way too many pizza places in the area to waste time/money on this place again.

This place is almost comical in their dishonesty. They try to come off like they are so community oriented, but they can’t pull the wool over my eyes. This is how the story goes. Been in cv for quite awhile & live close to pizza joint. Like the pizza and convenience but here’s the thing every time I ordered over the years they would overcharge on the tax. Now we are talking in my experience over a buck extra… everytime!!! Example bought pizzas at 9% tax would have been under two bucks total but was charged over ten percent… every time! After several visits I wrote them off on GP. Then after a couple years tried again out of convenience and like I said pretty good pizza. Nope still SOS. But the next few visits I called them on it and they play stupid of course. Do the math over a buck extra times a year of sales = $$. Furthermore, they seem to exploit the kids of Creekside, etc. My kids have been told the cheapest pizza was $ 16.. menu showed like 12 $. Additionally they were told the six pack(soda) was $ 6.99…menu $ 3.99. They brought menu next time and asked why it said $ 3.99 and was told it was a misprint. Funny thing the mailer came a few days later w $ 3.99 written on menu. Like I said in my experiences dishonest. The name should be changed to Shady Express!!!

It’s definitely one of the better pizza places in Castro Valley. I’ve had my pizza delivered on time on several occasions. I’ve also picked it up a few times and chatted with the employees there who are extremely nice. The Creekside students can go by after school and get a slice for $ 1.00 and the kids can hang out there for a bit and the owners don’t mind. The pizza is a bit pricey though and tad greasy. It’s definitely a treat to order a pizza from there. Great customer service!

Pro: Pizza was fine. In fact, I really like it! They even do a gluten free crust(great for my family). Con: I placed order at 4:30pm by phone for delivery at 5:30pm. I thought 1 hour would give plenty of time for them to get it all in order and delivery on time. Luke warm pizza arrived at 6pm. OUCH! Pretty disappointed with that. Oh well, I guess we can try somewhere else next time.

I am writing to update because Pizza Express has exhibited good faith in remedying the pricing inconsistencies that I mentioned in my 2013 post. Some haggling is still required, but the minor inconvenience is offset by the quality of the food.

Nice people. They gave the teachers at creekside free lunch around teacher appreciation week. Pizza is pretty good. A little procier than you much like, but still pretty good. If you’re just purchasing a slice or anything under $ 10, bring cash.

So I was searching for a new pizza place in CV because my girl is tired of low quality most chains serve up these days. We found this place on Unilocal and were compelled by the amount of raving reviews. I found the ordering experience to be very easy and the staff on the phone was very friendly and competent. We got a large half Hawaiian and half pepperoni and the price was extremely reasonable and the delivery guy benefited from a large tip since there was a good amount of change. The pizza itself was better than I expected from your typical inexpensive local pizza places. The crush was nice and thick, the sauce was delicious but I wasn’t a huge fan of the pineapple. All in all I think I will be coming back here again, the think crust looks pretty darn good. They also deliver beer, which is pretty sweet.

I LOVE this pizza place! Their pizza is so good — it is a tad expensive, so I only get it every so often as a treat. I always get the same thing, the 11 topping combination. Trust me, it’s worth it. I can usually eat an entire medium to myself, but I’m normally stuffed after 3 – 4 slices of this pizza, another reason I love it. I had slightly burned crust once, but other than that never a problem. They also let you order delivery over the phone and give a credit card number, so you don’t need cash, which is great for someone like me who never has cash on them. Edit: We’ve discovered that the price will vary based on who answers the phone. If you get a guy that sounds Indian, he makes up the price on the spot like it’s a negotiation — like he actually tried to negotiate the price with me when I told him I was reading what the coupon they give out said the price was. DON’T ORDERFROMHIMHEWILLRIPYOUOFF! If, however, a guy that sounds American/white answers, and you tell him you have the coupon and what price it is, he gives you the right price. So now we only order if we happen to get this guy on the phone. Ridiculous, but worth it for the coupon price for the awesome pizza you get.

I don’t know if this is always the case but if you order the super large pizzas at the center street location the redwood location will be the one that makes it. Somehow that equals over two hours of waiting for a pizza delivered.

Pizza and beer night again. This time: vegetarian King Kong(way massive, can’t imagine what their Mac Daddy looks like) with Bud. Yes, that is, in fact, the only beer they deliver, but hey, THEYDELIVERBEER. And the vegetarian, unlike the supreme, was very tasty, not salty like the supreme, lotsa garlic(confirmed bachelorette here) and fresh veggies(other than the black olives — will nix next time). Delivery on a Saturday night was less than 30 minutes, and again, the delivery guy was nice and polite – he actually thanked me for tipping him. This is good, yet cheap, pizza. Mangia! Ciao, y’all.

Tried to give them another chance. Delivery took 1:20. That’s ridiculous. Asked for no onions. Sure enough, onions. This is stupid.
