Carmen’s Italian Family Restaurant

We have dined here quite a few times before Joe retired. The last couple visits have been very disappointing. Their pizza and Italian wedding soup used to be delicious, but now both taste nothing like they used to. The soup was VERY salty and tasted sour. The pizza was burnt.
Our last and most likely final visit was a couple days ago when we sat down inside to eat. The place was completely empty, not a soul around. Our server brought us our drinks and then we sat at our table for a good 15 minutes waiting for her to return to take out order but apparently she was too busy doing sidework. We ended up just leaving. It’s a shame because we live right by there.

As someone that has just relocated to The Lehigh Valley from Chicago, Carmen’s is great. Now I will admit that I love my deep dish pizza but the Sicilian that is made here is top notch. The thin crust is also outstanding.
Service it phenomenal as Scott and the rest of the staff are very friendly and more than happy to accommodate your dining needs. This is a place that I will be visiting on a regular basis.

I totally disagree with Ken’ s review. First of all he’s complaining about the cheesesteaks but they have the same cook as when Joe was there! I think that Carmen’s has improved since Joe retired and is so much better! Food was not good and it wasn’t consistent every time, Joe was a rude nasty person! They lost a lot of customers when they owned it and it showed no one was ever there! Now that it’s under new ownership it has improved drastically the décor is beautiful staff is friendly and food is excellent and such big portions, we go home with left overs every time… Yummy!!! There are not many good places to eat in catasauqua or find good pizza but since the new owners took over at Carmens we go there weekly for dinner or take out pizza… Their Sicilian is so good nothing like it around! Their food is true italian food it’s our new favorite place to go! So if you haven’t tried it since Joe left you should… You won’t be disappointed!!! Food is great and it shows their parking always has cars in it and on a weekend their dining room is packed, when Joe owned it it was always dead so that must be saying something! Plus I’ve seen recently in the morning call two rave reviews on how good the food is at carmens since the new owners took over! We recommend this place to all our friends and they never have a negative thing to say only good!!!

The tables were dirty along with plates salt and pepper shakers oil and vinegar bottles. The service was super slow the bread was burnt. The meatballs were good but cold the chicken Parmesan was covered in Parmesan cheese and the sauce was way to thick

Terrible food since Joe retired and left at the end of last year. He made consistently good food each and every time. I ordered the calzone for delivery the other day, and when it arrived there was so much ricotta in it that it was like eating a cheese Log. The chicken cheesesteak was dripping and dark looking. We’ve been there a few times this year and the quality is declining fast. It used to be the best place around! Not any more.

Super, super, super menu… Finally had a chance to try their pizza and all I can say is fantastic, cheesy, super home-​made sauce, and the crust was just right. Old world beautiful, reminded me of pizza night at my Great-​Grams!

It’s been a while for me, but I hear they’re up to their same old tricks. Mounds of food for very cheap. Excellent friendly service. Good food and people. Even all you can eat nights. Great local place.
