Let’s start with Brian, our server! He’s one of the best servers we’ve had in a long time. He’s super personable, friendly & gave great recommendations on the menu. We ordered the wedge salad to start, YUM. Homemade blue cheese dressing is all I’m going to say Then our party of 3 ordered Kelly’s brisket, the half rack special & the Mess, which consisted of a little of all meats on the menu. We also had mac & cheese, cole slaw & baked beans. We LOVED every item we tried. We couldn’t possibly think of dessert after not even finishing half of the Mess(which we boxed & took home)…BUT oh wait, we did order our desserts to go & so happy we did. Home made banana cream pie & chocolate mousse cake… YES, they really were homemade & so delicious. We can’t wait to go back, thanks Brian

Great home cooking BBQ. We had the baby backs with sides, Mac and cheese, beans and smashed potatoes. Everything taste great, nice and hot. Anna and Mike are very hospitable and great at what they do, BBQ. We got the banana pie to take home. When we’re in Palm Springs we will surely stop by for some more BBQ and Conversation with the proprietors.

I’ve been back a few times now and each time I’m less impressed. This past week I had the rib eye sandwich. Philler up. Sadly it was not shaved ribeye. But some cheap cut, in huge chunks. I couldn’t find the cheese and only two slices if pepper and onions. The fries were great. I guess I’ll only be here for the ribs or pork sandwich. Not great on any of my other choices I have tried. Sadly Mikes has moved from my goto place to no thanks place.

Mike’s is worth the trip. I had the Angry Pig pulled pork sandwich on HawaiIan sweet bread with tasty coleslaw. Generous portion at a fair price. Small strip mall shop that is clean and neat. I will return to try the ribs when I have help to eat them.

Delicious pulled pork sandwich. It was $ 10 special for lunch. The coleslaw crunchy and perfect, and I really don’t like coleslaw, in this sandwich. Fries I would definitely recommend getting. Yum! My mouth is watering. Can’t wait to go back when I visit PS again.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were very pleasantly surprised. We both got the«Angry Pig» which was one of the specials. The sandwich was very good — lots of pork, nice cole slaw, pleasant but not overpowering BBQ sauce, good bun. The wedge fries were even better, very crisp and not at all greasy. The homemade ketchup was a nice touch. We split a banana cream pie, it’s really more of a pudding, but it was pretty good though we would have liked more of the vanilla wafer crust. Service was great, it’s a simple but clean and comfortable place and we will most definitely be back.

Food was fantastic. The chedder fries with maple bacon is creamy, cheesy, slightly sweet and crunchy. The pulled pork, ribs and Kahlua baked beans are phenomenal.

Mike’s is not much of a bistro. Dining area is small, very plain, has four grouped flat screens with various sports on, t-shirts tacked to the wall, gingham tablecloths and an oddly oversized countertop taking up a large section of the space. It simply lacks the charm and character I expect in a bbq joint. And be sure not to get the table right in front of the TVs, else anyone here watching the game will be all up in your business. We learned that the hard way. Mike and his staff are friendly group, a bit boisterous and uncouth, but good folks nonetheless. I wish they had more knowledge on how to run a restaurant, because the bistro sits empty most of the time, even on weekends. Now as for the food. It’s good. But after trying a few of their bbq dishes, their bbq sauce is just too heavy on tomato for my personal liking. The Angry Pig sandwich is big enough for two but merely tastes okay, done in by that tomatoey sauce. Their Kahlua baked beans are very good, rich and complex with some nice heat on the back end. And I could live off those crispy potato wedge fries they make. Overall, its just not a destination place you want for bbq. The bland atmosphere is hurting this place. It’s badly in need of a makeover and a bit more professionalism. But it has loads of potential.

I’ve come to really appreciate small restaurants — Mom & Pop if you will. Or in this case possibly Pop & Pop. Food is absolutely fantastic. Usually when I have ribs there is a pile of fat and a pile of bones left over — this time, only bones. Sides were great, sauces were homemade and great, even the spicy louie salad dressing was great. Already planning to make it a regular place.

Mike’s BBQ was truly amazing! We enjoyed the«Angry Pig» Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Pulled Pork jalapeño fries. Our new favorite spot in Cathedral City! We will be back, and can’t wait to bring our friends and family. (To police officers: get the«Angry Pig!» No offense given, so none taken)

Full Disclosure, I did not actually eat here… and here is why– Traveling with a bunch of friends, and we saw all the great Unilocal reviews for Mike’s. Drove all the way across town to eat here. Arrived at 8:25PM and the place was completely dark, with a closed sign in the window that said they were open until 9PM. There were people inside cleaning, so obviously they got sick of being at work and decided«F’It» let’s get out of here! As someone who has been in food service for many years, this was always a sign of the beginning of the end. To bad, we were excited to give it a try. But now, I would never take the chance of driving all the way over there to find it closed early.

Scrumptious dinner amid the casual ambiance were the highlights of the meal. I had a perfectly cooked medium rare steak with veggies and mashed potatoes. My husband had the half rack of ribs. Both meals were fairly price with large portions. We will definitely be back to try the wings and fish and chips.

This place was awesome! Me and my fiancé were just looking to grab a little snack. But after we tasted the homemade mac and cheese and a burger we split we instantly wanted to order any and everything else on the menu. The staff was extremely accommodating and we even got to meet the owner Mike himself. Great guy, who took the time to tell us a few of his cooking tips! We were very impressed that every meal was made from scratch. Try their potato wedge fries, you won’t regret it! Best local restaurant we’ve been to in awhile. –Allan

After reviewing and seeing all these starts on Unilocal!I decided to come with my wife to check what the whole fuss is about! We got the full rack of ribs with two sides, which the sides were baked beans and Mac and cheese!!! After taking a bite of the Mac and cheese, they tasted like they were made out of the box, no flavor and some parts were cold. The baked bean were not that bad, probably the best thing I ate!!! Now to the main event, the ribs, it was a good size rack, full of meat, but as I bit into it the meat had no flavor, if they boiled the ribs threw it on the fire and served it up! The sauce was not the best, very simple but edible!!! And also as I keep eating the ribs they were cold, my wife ribs were hot!!! I guess that was a plus! The whole fuss on Unilocal was wrong! Sorry Thats just me And my experience on the food!!! — the service was good, fast, probably cause it was slow, reading that they get slow as they get more customers — the place it small, and looks nice — but overall I would not come back, I would take the drive to Lucile’s in Rancho Cucamonga

OK, we gave this place another try, we ordered two shrimpin aint easy dishes, 20 bucks a pop(to go). Let me just say, these ARE without a doubt the smallest portions you will get anywhere for the price, the food tastes good, however, who wants to spend 20 bucks on dinner when it won’t fill you up, you don’t even get bread or a small before meal food to kind of make up for the empty your tummy is going to feel. Brian was keepin it real, being awesome, I wish that made up for the growling in my tummy. We won’t be back for anymore 20 dollar kids sized portions.

This is a gem in the making. Everything is made from scratch. Best part is the guys running it offer to make it right if you are not satisfied. But I was satisfied with it all. BBQ brisket with the Jameson sauce was delicious with homemade slaw(not full of liquid) and Kahlua baked beans had a little kick. Partner had chili bowl. Award winning. Looking forward to returning for lunch. Pulled pork or fish ‘n chips? Guess I’ll be back more than once.
