OK, so I tried it and didn’t like it. Guess I’m not a fan of 50’s era Catskill Mountains resorts. The place appeared clean and all but the main building(Lobby, bar & dining room) and our sleeping room all smelled old and musty. There were, however, large carpenter ants in our sleeping room. The food, while plentiful, was OK. Not great, just OK Can’t say enough about the staff. All were very helpful and A-1 in my book ! I’ll take beaches and ocean views over this any day.

This is my favorite place. I have come here every year for the past 20 years. The person who write reviews about the«regulars» obviously did not have a good experience because of the other people on their vacations, not because of the resort itself. I love coming here. I look forward to this every year without fail. The food is wonderful and plentiful. They have fun games and activities for the kids and Richie, the Social Director does everything to make sure your children have fun. The whole staff is more than accommodating and everyone is extremely friendly and willing to help with anything. Yes, I am a «regular» but that doesn’t mean I am upset when people come here for the weekends. This is definitely a fantastic place to bring your children. Yes, the rooms are not modernized, but they are clean and I don’t go on vacation to sit in the room. There are so many other things going on, I’m only in the room to sleep and shower. And the person is upset about a Walmart and a lowes being in a town? That has nothing to do with the resort. The resort did not build them and those companies were a life saver for the town of catskill. It brought jobs to an area that did not have many available. Sorry if that ruins the«aesthetic» you created in your mind, but it has nothing to do with the resort.

If your looking for simple family fun, with friendly service, then this is a must go! My family has been going here for 5 straight years now; with many more to come. Social Director Richard is the most friendly person you’ll ever meet. He is provides children with constant activities and He will happily provide you with things to do in the area and draw you map so you wont get lost. Charlie is so nice, you give you the shirt all his back! always asking if there is any questions you have. as if there is any way for them to provide beter service. any one there will answer any questions for you. Finally, the food is always great and plentiful, our servers year after year are always fantastic. they will without hesitation provide you with plate after plate of food. just beware you will gain weight during this trip.

If you are craving some 1960’s décor, keep this place in mind. I won’t trash this place for failing to update. It’s completely up to them how they choose to furnish the buildings and grounds. However just understand you are paying HUGE money for a trip back into this period of time. The rooms were clean, but they smelled. The AC built into the wall had black mold all in the vents. I will however take issue with some other problems. As you read the reviews on Trip Adviser you will see gushing praise from many. These are the regulars. If you have not been coming for 40 years in a row, they don’t want you. There were several examples during our stay where«regulars» voiced un-filtered anger at the«weekenders». «this is OUR vacation, you weekend people have no right to do xxxxx…». Sorry, I’m paying the same for my two nights as you likely did for the entire week. Bite me. The pool is a hotspot for conflict with the annuals. This is not a Catskill resort out of Dirty Dancing. I looked for Jennifer Grey, she wasn’t there. The program director tried his best, he let you know everything that was going on, and always made the rounds during the meals to check on you. I felt bad for him though, the place clearly needed to dedicate someone to maintenance, but they had Richard going in 20 directions. One minute he was telling you about the nights entertainment, the next he was in the pool fixing a broken ladder(some poor kid ripped his foot open on an exposed screw head, so they took the ladder out) The food was ok, nothing special, enough to keep you going, and if you had any requests the servers did what they could to help you. When I first looked at their website,(complete with a DMCA violation for using music in their slideshow.) I was picturing a mountain view, sort of out of the way location. Not so. Take a minute and look at a Google Map, the Super Wal Mart and Lowes are within spitting distance. You get there by driving into a residential neighborhood, and then BAM you are«at the Resort». I also took issue with the noise late at night. After midnight other guests were launching off fireworks, airaels and M-80’s. Not cool when you have younger kids. I didn’t see any staff there after evening activities, and this nonsense went on for a while. The morning also found the grounds trashed, one of the mini-golf statues in the pool(along with a chair, brick, and more trash). If the bill had been ½ what I paid I would still have gone(about $ 300 per night for my wife and I, and two kids), and would have said it was a good value. However it’s very expensive for what you are getting, and unless you have grown up going here, you may feel like you overpaid.
