Alberto’s Mexican Food

Ssooo I’m trying to keep in mind that I am no longer in San Diego but this is a hard one.
This Albertos is nothing like the originals in California. This place uses sour cream, pico de gallo and beans in everything. I have been eating carne asada fries for YEARS and have never had them like this. Not bad, but not good either. They looked good on the plate but thats about the only good thing I can say about them.
We decided to give it another go and ordered a carne asada burrito and of course a California… and again nothing but sour cream, pico de gallo and beans… barely any meat at all. And they use chopped potatoes not fries which were also dripping with grease.
Now onto the sauces… ugh… the verde was basically green water!!! No flavor or spice at all in any of them!!! It saddens me really… Mexican food without spice or flavor!!! Sacrilege!!! I understand there are a lot of Caucasian people here but man this is depressing.

Whenever we visit family in the area we always make a point to stop by and eat here. The food is really good. But like any place there’s good and bad.
Pros: delicious food
Prices are cheap
Portions are HUGE (especially the burritos)
Salsa bar (avocado dressing is amazing)
Pepsi products
The place is clean and there’s plenty of seating
They have a drive thru
Location is easy to get to
Cons: service is slower than most places. BUT they are making food to order so…
As you can see the pros outweigh the cons. And now I want a burrito.

Hands down the WORST customer service I’ve ever had. I would give negative stars if I could.
It took them 5 minutes or more for them to even take our order, we weren’t acknowledged at the window for about 15 minutes. They didn’t give us our receipt we asked for. My boyfriend had to go inside the restaurant to get our food after an additional 15 minutes of waiting after we paid. The «manager» stated they were slow because they had a large order before us, and that’s fine, but to ignore us completely for 30 minutes is down right bad customer service. I would have liked to have been informed that we needed to wait, or atleast had the drinks we ordered. The food was alright. I ordered a California burrito that had potatoes in it instead of French fries… It didn’t bother me until I realized my whole burrito was basically hard potatoes. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and I will not be returning.

Best Mexican food in town. Can’t beat the price either. The drive through is a little rough. I would also use cash. I’ve had some disputes in the past with this place. Won’t keep from coming back though.
