I went to Jiva today for my haircut and I’ve never had a better experience at a salon. When you walk in the door, you are pleasantly greeted by the receptionist. Immediately she asked if I wanted something to drink. I had Tara as my hairstylist today and she was AMAZING and such a friendly person. I love the quality of their service. Definitely would recommend anyone and everyone to go to Jiva!

Love my hair! Tara was my stylist and yes, there is a connection with her however, I am still someone that has had challenges with getting my hair cut and she did a fabulous job. I have very curly hair and knew going into this I was donating hair to Beautiful Lengths however, I had no idea what style would work for me so asked her to choose for me. I’m thrilled with the results and feel it’s one of the best styles I’ve every had. It fits me to a tee and looking forward to having fun with my hair again. The Jiva experience was fantastic and enjoyed seeing how everyone interacted. They love what they do and you can tell they work well together. Good energy and relaxing experience. Highly recommend Tara and Jiva Salonspa!

I was a loyal Aveda customer before moving to the Cedar Valley, but in my opinion, Jiva leaves much to be desired. I did like how they stuck with typical Aveda practices of the nice scalp massage and free beverages, but the quality of my hair cut and styling was not what I’ve received at other Avedas or other comparable salons.

I recently had a haircut with Sara. I have naturally curly hair and was looking for a stylist with experience and an understanding of how curly hair works and how best to cut it. Sara & Jiva were recommended to me by a friend who also has naturally curly hair. Sara was AMAZING! She is only the 3rd stylist I’ve found who ‘gets it’ when it comes to cutting curly hair. The salon atmosphere is nice, I was greeted right away and offered a beverage. I also really enjoyed the shoulder & scalp massage that accompanied my haircut & style. I’ll definitely be back & have already recommended Sara to others I know in the area with curly hair.

Its been hard finding a good place in town to get hair done. This salon is full service: hair, style, make up, brows, pedicure/manicure, massage, etc. I’ve done hair and massage. Both were stellar. The hair stylist cut my hair perfectly and took her time. The masseuse knew chakras and had the perfect amount of pressure and wasn’t too chatty(my preference, she seemed really nice otherwise). You can book online, for now they have a $ 20 off first time service and are really nice with it. It smells great in there and they staff is all really friendly. While I have straight hair, I did notice they have hair stylists who can style ethnic hair and do it well(a little girl with ethnic hair was having her hair styled and was very delighted about it). A lot of the hair places here hack your hair and do an awful job. Not this place! AND they are open on Saturdays, most salons here aren’t.

In town from Seattle to attend a wedding and I have been to many a spa in lots of cities. Was nervous about finding a place here. Pleasantly surprised. Was able to score last minute 30 min massage. Short, I know but I will take it. Staff very friendly and offered to call me and extend appt if they received cancellation. Nice. I arrived early. They were welcoming and invited me to relax in spa area(fireplace. Nice comfy chairs, cucumber water, quiet) until my appt. Very appreciated that. Deep tissue massage ended up being decent. I only wish the therapist didn’t talk so much. but it’s ok. Got the kinks out of my back so I could dance away at the wedding reception later that evening. I do wish I had time to get my hair done before the wedding starts but I have to get ready. I did go earlier in the day across the street for a wash and style and it was bad. Ended up washing my hair and styling myself. I will review that place later. I would recommend Jiva to any out of towner. Very nice place.

Came here for a pedicure with mi madre and we had a great time! It was the first time she had ever had a pedicure, and it was a surprise for her birthday. They didn’t give away the secret or anything, so bonus love to Jiva for that! You have a choice of wine, water or their amazing ginger root tea and then sit in these lovely massage chairs while the ladies work ever so carefully on your tootsies. They had all of the newest OPI colors and their special lavender-mint soap(I think that’s what it was) made my feet and legs feel so smooth. It really was a a great time. She was also gifted a facial for the d.o.b and said it was amazing. I would recommend this salon to anyone, I’ve never had a bad hair or spa result.

For a wedding gift — I purchased a gift card for an hour massage for my husband. While my husband reports that he enjoyed the massage — I however, did not enjoy their customer service! I went in the middle of a work day… and waited… and waited to be helped. I probably wouldn’t have minded if they were busy, or if there were people ahead of me… but there wasn’t. The receptionist went on talking and when she did finish her conversation with another staff member — then«helped» me. When I was helped — she was rude! I was asking questions — and she responded with clipped answers and no elaborations… and her overall demeanor was«I’m busy, What do you want? Hurry it up!» I didn’t get it – here I was ready to spend over $ 100(massage and tip). and I was treated like they didn’t even want to sell me a service. I regret that I ended up getting the massage there — I would have much rather given my money to a salon and spa that treats people decently; and appreciates their patronage. Beautiful salon — but it was completely tainted by the ugly service. I will not go there again.

Unless you have blond, limp hair, DONOT go to this place. I tried it twice and both times it was a disaster. I am from South America and have naturally thick and curly hair. The first time I tried Jiva, the woman who did my hair(barely out of beauty school) tried to blow-dry it straight with a flat brush. Anyone that knows anything about straightening curly hair knows that a flat brush creates frizz, and I ended up looking like a poodle. The second time it took another stylist 3 hours to get my hair semi-straight, mumbling that she had no experience with«ethnic hair»(what is «ethnic» about plain, curly hair? I have no idea; apparently anyone with dark and curly hair qualifies as «ethnic» in Jiva)…the best came when they tried to charge me as if I had had an updo, «because of the time it took to do my hair». Ha! I told them that I was not going to pay more because they did not know how to do their job, so I paid what I had been quoted initially and left. Two months ago my sister went in for color, and the stylist did not listen to her, she ended up looking like a poodle too, but a blond poodle(she asked for a reddish tone, but I guess that the stylist did not agree with her). Someone gave me a gift card for Jiva this year, so I had a facial that was mediocre at best; I could have had it at home with an exfoliator from Wallgreenss, nothing like D’vine for facials(the only real spa in town).

Coming from California, and of all places Ojai which boasts a bevy of spa places in a small radius, I’m pretty picky when it comes to spa atmosphere. Overall, this salon/spa is clean and they have a nice staff. The treatment room that I end up in when I go seems a bit cramped, but they make due with the space they have available. The salon area always looks really busy on the weekends to boot, hence they must be doing something good.
