Kyoto Sushi III

Ate here when I was in town for a workshop. Food was good and service was fast.

I love this sushi place. Very friendly and food is always great. A bit expensive but worth every penny.

Went here for the first time tonight after reading the other Unilocal reviews. Sushi was great! Fresh, lots of choices and interesting rolls. Gave it a 4 only because the server wasn’t to knowledgeable when I asked for a suggestion. Other than that,

My boyfriend and I are becoming increasingly more picky when it comes to sushi places and sushi quality. For lack of anything else, we decided to try this place last night. At first, I was skeptical because it looked tiny and there were only two other people in there (it was also a weeknight). But the second I walked in the door I changed my mind. The place was very warm and welcoming and the employees were very friendly. The Miso soup was DELICIOUS. All five rolls we ordered were absolutely delicious and a few were very unique and the sushi tasted very fresh. I wish we took pictures because they were so pretty! We will definitely be going here again, as there is only one other sushi place in NJ that we currently like. Very impressed! Make sure you try this place!

Lunch time is always a great time for sushi. Here they have pretty cheap lunch specials And delivery time is usually within 20 minutes. Always fresh and reliable

Consistently good service, friendly waitstaff every time I’ve dined out here or gotten take out. Always had good sushi here. Can’t recall anything standout from the menu; it’s just your regular delicious sushi place. Nice intimate vibe. I love being able to support one of the decent small businesses in town.

Delicious! Their fish tastes fresh and delicious. The miso soup is amazing. (Some places its way too salty). The server we had was very sweet. Quite but polite and was there when we needed anything! I will definitely be coming back!

I never write reviews but I had to for my favorite sushi spot. Once my husband and I tried Kyoto it became our go-​to spot. Consistently fresh and creative rolls. They are also extremely nice people. They always give great recommendations for new rolls and are genuinely happy to see you when you stop in. Dining in– it’s a small, casual spot. Great for a casual date night or lunch. Service is excellent and it’s a BYOB. Lunch specials are also very reasonable. You can’t go wrong! For Take out and delivery-​they are very efficient. My favorite rolls include Ocean Garden (a sweet and spicy roll– very refreshing), Super Steve and Monsoon roll. The ginger dressing on the house salad is also great– creamy and delish!

Excellent service and even better food! We do takeout and come in to eat quite a few times a month. The sushi and other selections are always fresh and delicious. The fried ice cream is also a great treat! I’ve had sushi from many places throughout NJ but Kyoto is definitely my hometown favorite!

Best sushi in the tri-​state area. Phenomenal service by Eva and Helen and fantastic presentation by Stephen and Tom. Kyoto Sushi III delivers a five star experience. Tust me; I’m here everyday for lunch. This is the most refreshing retreat I could ask for from my office. Don’t take my word for it; try it for yourself. You will definitely not be disappointed.

This sushi was horrible. I spent $ 70 and I am throwing more than half of the sushi in the garbage. My boyfriend was making gagging sounds as he was eating it. I don’t know how this place has good reviews. Maybe people just haven’t had really good sushi. This sushi was very fishy, small rolls. Even the Mango was of poor quality. Never again!

Best reasonably priced sushi place in the northern New Jersey area! Sushi pieces are large and always taste fantastic. Never have had a bad experience here and I wish there was one closer to where I live.

Came here tonight (on a Saturday) for the first time, since I’ve been wanting to try a new local sushi place and this was highly recommended on Unilocal.
Seated promptly with a friendly server. Both my House Salad and brother’s Miso Soup were excellent and came out fairly quickly. We then waited for our rolls, which again came out quickly and were superb.
I had the Sakura Roll and Sweet Potato Roll with brown rice. Very fresh and packed tightly, which I love. Generous portions on the apps, rolls, and even the ginger/​wasabi on the side. Fairly priced and will definitely return!

As a consistent sushi eater, I try to keep fairly high standards and Kyoto III knocks it out of the park! We have been going here for about 7 years since I left my beloved Robongi in Hoboken. Tried a number of places in the Montclair area and found our place when we entered this gem — amazingly fresh, great service and parking out front.
My order typically revolves around the Tiger roll — white seaweed roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado and cucumber. Seriously, if you go here you must order this. It’s hands down the best thing on the menu. I round out my order with a tuna or salmon avocado roll and some sashimi, typically salmon.

Good sushi. Never disappoints. Good options for vegetarians. I live 10 minutes away from the place and they deliver.

Very fast pickup service (they deliver as well, but we live right around the corner) and easy online ordering.
The spicy combo we got was delicious and heavy on the extra «crunch» we asked for and got free of charge — yah! Chicken teriyaki was the largest portion of chicken I’ve ever gotten at a Japanese restaurant. Perhaps not the most delicious, but the fact that I got 3 servings out of the one dish made it better.
We will definitely be keeping Kyoto’s menu close at hand.

I came here one night for dinner after searching on Unilocal for the highest rate sushi place in my area. The search yielded to Kyoto with 4.5 stars. For those unfamiliar with the approach, this little place is right before the Foodtown plaza in Cedar Grove heading north on rte 23. The overall place is small; seats about 20 people max. My boyfriend and I had tried about five rolls in total. The visit being our first time to Kyoto, we had to choose things methodically. A couple of simple rolls to gauge their craft, two specialty rolls to see their creativity and one featured special roll for freshness and creativity. Overall I must say everything was pretty tasty, but both of us agreed that their combinations lack texture contrast. I found a couple of our rolls very mushy. Our CRAZY SAKE’s sauces were applied with a heavy hand. It’s not a terrible thing but it certainly doesn’t call them the best sushi around, c’mon. As for the service; never have I had a server actually poor my soy sauce in my dish for me or open the door as I left the restaurant. It was all unexpected and nice at the same time.
