Pegasus Construction, LLC

I hired Pegasus to complete the construction of a garage apartment. First off, their painters did a horrible job in painting the interior and I had to repaint the complete inside over again, as the painter refused to come back on the project. Pegasus sent me multiple erroneous bills for work completed or not completed, and then later abandoned my project leaving me with me to get all city inspections for electrical, plumbing and HVAC. I received constant threats and intimidating phone calls and emails from Pegasus Construction, and they left my project incomplete, bad workmanship, poorly managed project, lacking city inspections, and took money from me for work not completed. I would never recommend them to do any work for anyone.

On time an on budget. The contractor in charge was reliable and took care of any questions promptly. I had previously used another contractor who sucked and owes me money so I was hesitant. Wished I hired Pegasus first!

We hired these guys in 2007 when we bought our house but it turns out I’m still mad. The actual completed work they did was good: the one star is for the nightmare of dealing with them. On initial consult everything seemed in order and they seemed to really know what they were talking about and we felt like we were on the same page. But the project took so much longer than they’d said, and what we were doing was not major: remove a chunk of this wall, replace the windows, turn this slider into windows, finish the hardwoods.
There was the day we came home to the complete wrong size and type of window installed, because Steve heard «put in a window» and stopped listening. There was the day we came home to the near-​complete installation of floating wood floors, despite everything else in the house being glued down and our having a conversation about it. There were several days when we took the dog to camp so they could work, and they didn’t come to the house at all. There was the day I knew they’d been at the house working because the door was UNLOCKED when I got home. There was the day when a painter’s unflushed dump was still in my toilet. They redid the trim around the exterior of the front window three times because it took that many tries to get it right, despite everyone drawing pictures and agreeing on what it should look like.
I think the problem was actually the smallness of our job: it was so minor that as a company and organizational unit they kept forgetting about it and didn’t take the time to sort out the details minutely. However, their little no-​big-​deal job was our house that we were living in, so it was a very big deal to us. Maybe when you have a major remodel they’re better, but our experience with them on a small job was a total nightmare. Also, it turned out that Steve was a homophobe, with unsolicited remarks about the rainbow flag at Genuine Joe Coffee, but by that point it was too late.

Pegasus did a fantastic job on our remodel. They were on time (with a very tight time frame), on budget, and able to accolades a change in scope at the last minute. Furthermore, there was an issue with the oven that was installed, and they came out to double-​check all the electric work. I will definitely use them for any future work, and highly recommend them.
