I’m so glad I served my country so that I can be told«We’re not taking new patients.» What? Wha whaaaat? I can go to Temple or South Austin? Oh gee thanks. It started out easy enough. Call the number I was provided in my new handbook. Then a recording. you know«press one for appointments». I go through a few more of the selection process to be told«this patient has no appointments scheduled». No kidding? that’s what I’m trying to accomplish. OK lets try a different route. Lets try to talk to an actual person. No luck there either. the roundabout way I kept looping back to the same beginning message has still befuddled me. Oh here’s a number for a «Patient Advocate». Surely this person will be able to help me. Unfortunately the number led to a recording of a lady who says«she will be retiring in September of 2012.» Are you kidding me? Fortunately she was nice enough to leave someone else’s phone number. …wait for it… The next person doesn’t speak English. Dum dum dummmmm. Well that’s not completely accurate. She spoke enough to tell me they are not taking new patients. But couldn’t explain further. Then I got transferred. And the last lady was nice enough. She started out by saying she understood I wanted to make an appointment. Would I prefer Austin or Temple? I’d prefer Cedar Park. Got the whole bureaucratic nonsense speech of why that couldn’t be done. But if she were me I should keep an eye on their website daily for the notification of when they’d take new patients. So I got the number for the S Austin Clinic. And the story doesn’t end there. Oh no it gets better. To be continued…

Good staff and Good doctors doing their best to help the veterans and their needs. There are some days when lab appointments get stacked deep and you need to wait for extended periods, but this is NOT the fault of the Clinic IMO, but of the automated appointment system. The staff and everyone here truly show that they server the veterans and do the best with what they have. It is a medical clinic mostly for appointments, so please do not seek medical attention here as they will simply dial 9−1−1. They also bring a great convenience for disabled vets like me so I do not have to travel to South Austin or Temple for routine visits.
