This is the premier breakfast establishment in Cedar Rapids. You can expect a short wait on Saturday morning and the food is completely worth it. I typically get a(very large) omelette, pancakes or toast and hash browns. You can get the omelette with the hash browns inside it, along with tasty melted cheese and quality ingredients. After one of these omelettes, a pancake and OJ, milk or coffee it’s a struggle to get out of the booth. Their kitchen is open for all to see while you wait for your food. For only $ 20 — $ 25 for two people you can leave completely stuffed, I have been here 10 to 15 times and never been disappointed. I registered on Unilocal just to give this place 5 stars.

Tried this tiny little breakfast place over the weekend and was surprised how packed it was inside(11ish). We didn’t have to wait very long to get a table. The waitresses(I think there was just 2) were quick and very sweet. We ordered the breakfast burrito which was really good and the multi-grain pancakes. I normally don’t believe in ordering«healthy» pancakes so I know better. The multi-grain pancakes were terrible to my husband and I even with syrup but my 2 year old loved them. So don’t order multi-grain pancakes keep them unhealthy but definitely order the burrito. They did take off the pancakes from our ticket which was very kind. And honestly the waitresses for being so busy and under staff were really great! We will be back.

We found the Breakfast House Café via Unilocal. I travel to Cedar Rapids quarterly with my family, and like to avoid the chain restaurants. Every visit I have a different meal and every meal have been wonderful. If you want a great breakfast come to Breakfast House Café!

This place is so cute! I’m always looking for a good breakfast joint, and this one is a hit. Great staff, and atmosphere! We had breakfast, the omelette was HUGE, and the skillet was just as big. You definitely get more than your money’s worth here. Delicious!

solid breakfast place with a diner feel, idk how many places like this are in CR so it was def crowded on a sunday at noon, after 15 mins tho we got seats and it was fine, i got the omlette with hash browns cooked into it, and a big pancake on the side, it was good, not small and not too filling either, 2 TVs too, I’d go back if ever in town again

Awesome breakfast. Some of the best eggs Benedict I have ever eaten! Supper friendly and attentive staff. Lots of locals made it feel homey. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Great breakfast! Hot, fresh and fast with prompt attentive service. I had the Sausage Biscuits Breakfast which was like two huge sausage & egg sandwiches smothered with sausage gravy containing big chunks of sausage. If you like breakfast sausage biscuits & gravy this is the dish for you. Served with hashbrowns, it was more than I could eat. The restaurant was nicely done, clean and well kept. The kitchen is out in the open, which I always enjoy. I highly recommend this place for a great tasting and fulfilling breakfast.

I came here with my family for breakfast for the first time. This place was packed. They have fast and friendly service. And the food was great. The oat meal pancakes with fruit was delicious. The oat meal gave the pancakes a great texture. My suggestion is to also try the Polish sausage. I will definitely come again.

Cute little place — if you’re not looking for it, you could totally drive right by. Only a few tables and they were full the whole time we were there. My husband got a skillet with eggs, sausage, potatoes, and cheese. I had corned beef hash. Both were excellent! Service was great and I will be back to visit the Breakfast House Café again!

When I travel, I Unilocal all my restaurants. My SO and I woke up very hungry this morning and found this gem of a place through Unilocal. We split the country fried steak and it’s probably the best meat in a country/chicken fried steak I’ve had. And I like to think of myself as an amateur chicken fried steak judge. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the sausage links were perfectly crisp and juicy when bitten into. If you’re in Cedar Rapids and looking for a great no frills breakfast joint, you will not regret stopping by here!

Sunday Brunch is mandatory in whatever city I happen to be visiting. I turned to Unilocal to find this great spot. My brunch companion and I arrived and got a table right away before the line started forming out the door. Apart from the small space, the food portions were large and yummy(yes I said yummy…) The menu offered breakfast and lunch options that made it hard to decide what to get but after enjoying a vegetable omelet and sub of pancake instead of toast, I think I will definitely come back to try more. Also must have the coffee when you come!

I truly love finding an honest, no frills, great food breakfast place. This covers all of the marks. The portions are big, the price is very reasonable and the food is great. I loved the chicken fried steak, my wife’s benedict Florentine looked amazing. My only regret was not being able to sample everything on the menu that looked so amazing.

Nice little place. Very busy, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table on Sunday mid morning. I had the skillet which was good. Nice atmosphere

Long wait, the waitress had a pissing match with someone, still haven’t gotten food for at least 40 min… won’t be back.

The Florentine Benedict is great! Fast, friendly service. Tasty food at a nice price point. Consistently well prepared meals, and when we get our favorite server, Crissy, it’s a five star experience. Please don’t visit Perkins or IHOP. Next time you want a great breakfast, visit this locally owned gem.

I had a great breakfast at breakfast house café this morning. I consider myself a biscuit and gravy expert, and these are some of the best! It was so busy but that is was a sign that we were at the right spot! It’s classic and crowded but 100 precent worth it!

Up early and with an empty belly, I braved the morning traffic and stopped here before 8am. There were a handful of your typical breakfast-diner types(think farmer john and jim-bob) at a table but the cozy little place was mostly empty. Its a sit anywhere ya like place, so I grabbed a booth and looked up to see some coffee headed my way courtesy of the manager. She gave me a minute to look at the menu and mix my coffee, which was just about the right temp — not scalding hot. Tasted like a basic but mellow blend. Very nice. The chicken and biscuits sounded good so I placed my order and settled in. No tv, no music, just the sound of breakfast coming from the semi-exposed cooking area that runs along the wall. The wait wasn’t long at all for the massive plate of food I got. Two fresh biscuits with a big piece of fried chicken and eggs between, all smothered in gravy and chaperoned by a large cake of hash browns, more than any person should eat for breakfast, hot and delicious. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, the gravy just perfect consistency, not too thick or runny. I managed to get about half of it down — one biscuit or so. The only thing I’d like to see different was the hash browns. They were kind of mushy, just a big flat cake of maybe shredded pots cooked on the flat top. Unseasoned and uninspired, not the worst I’ve had but pretty bland. I have to give credit to the manager, by the time I left around 8:30 it was busy and she was hustling to get all the tables sorted out. Sounded like someone was late but even so my coffee stayed fresh and she smiled when she dropped off the bill. As good as it gets for breakfast. The place is clean and comfortable but close-in so don’t expect a private conversation over coffee, DO expect solid service and great breakfast food for about $ 15 a person. Might be busy after 8ish so get there early for a nice corner booth…

A nice, laid back, no-nonsense menu and atmosphere that you come to when you’re feeling for breakfast. It’s a local joint but that doesn’t hurt the quality or consistency. I’ve never had a bad meal here and we’ve also never been kicked out, which says a lot about their tolerance with late night parties who are up to the whee hours of the night/day. If someone asked me where to go for breakfast in Cedar Rapids this is where I’d send them.
