Best burger in CR hands down. And the natural cut fries are twice cooked so they’re actually crispy. Locally owned, too!

Umm-Mazing burgers!!! Honestly, I felt like I was 16 again. And that was more than 50 years ago. This is what a burger and fries used to taste like. Meat to the edge of the bun, thin enough to cook well, but thick enough for flavor. Fries hand cut and browned crispy. Shake the perfect size. I could not do justice to the small fries. I ordered Jr. Size, but manager compted me the small. I ordered a slice of onion, and got a real slice, not just a couple of rings.

Burgerfeen is worth the hype! I don’t go to Cedar Rapids often, but I finally had a chance to try this burger joint last night. I’m a simple girl, so I went with the single burger with cheese, small fry, and a vanilla milkshake. I didn’t care for the fries, but that’s just a personal preference, as I don’t like fries that still have the skin on them – they’re cooked lovingly in rice bran oil and seem fresh and crisp, so that’s a good thing, and there’s plenty of them! My burger and milkshake were fantastic. Next time I may add a little more to my burger or try a different flavor of all the yummy shake options. The restaurant is located in a little shopping strip in a residential/industrial area, so keep your eyes open for it – it’s a great quick bite option.

Great burger spot in CR. Was traveling thru for sports and Unilocaled it. Pleasantly surprised. Reminds me of a smaller version of a Five Guys. Had the double with cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. Really good. Family shared a large fries. Everyone enjoyed their burgers!

Without question worth going to, very upscale and extremely pleasant employees, food is sensational‼ Some of the previous reviews say that it is expensive, don’t know what they’re talking about, very reasonably priced !

I enjoyed their bacon double cheeseburger with the fried egg. The fries and the addition of the chocolate shake made for a perfect burger fries and shake combination. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. I’ll be back when craving a burger with fried egg!

First, let me clarify that this place is not called Burgerfry. If you look for Burgerfry, you will drive right past and spend time hunting for a place right in front of you actually called BurgerFEEN. BURGERFEEN. Got it? It’s important because this place is awesome and I don’t want you to miss the experience. BurgerFEEN is located in an industrial area on the edge of a residential neighborhood with a vibe similar to Logan Square in the 2000s. Starting to attract hipsters and the artsy group that loves to eat trendy. BurgerFEEN is most definitely trendy, in a very good way. The burgers are freaking awesome. Huge! Juicy! Tasty! An orgasm for your taste buds! They are going to thank you all week for the treat! I have a plain olé’ bacon, cheese burger.(At a new place, I like the simplest burger so that I know if the meat is any good.) My burger was the bomb! Hulk super smash awesome, even! But, it did not begin to compare with Hubster’s. He got his burger as a double downed patty and cheese, and then added a fried egg, jalapenos, Sriacha sauce. Just ad explosion of spice and flavor. Hubster is a tall man, and even his big hands had trouble getting around this monster. But, it was so good, he ate it all, then had to go home for an itis-nap. Yup. That happened. We both had the fries. These are not frozen potatoes dumped in oil. These are fresh cut, cooked in light oil, and sprinkled with enough salt to bring out the natural potato flavor. We both loved them, but we had to fight the dog for them. She was pissed that she didn’t get a burger. Finally, I had a chocolate malt. Super thick. Served with no lid and just a spoon. A straw won’t work for this, folks! My only complaint, it is a tiny malt that is to good, you want more, more, more. Hubster said it best… totally worth the drive.

Hands down the best burgers in town(fry and feen). Hand cut fries are tasty too. I was pumped to find out Brugerfeen was on the north side too, only a few minutes from work. I’d like to try the shakes, but after eating a burger and the 7lb mound ‘o fries(seriously don’t ever order more that a small, they are gigantic portions!) I’m too close to food coma to order one.

Found this spot as an alternative to our normal spot when driving through CR on trips to /from Missouri from WI and was glad I did. First, some background, I travel a lot for work and my job occasionally requires culinary tours alongside chefs which I’ve recently conducted in New York City and Chicago, including burger joints, so just a frame a reference on my background &POV. The food: I ordered the bacon double and fries. Two vegetarians in our group ordered the grilled cheese. First, the bacon burger. Fantastic. Yes, it was a bit expensive($ 7.99, I think it was) however, it is reasonable considering what you pay at some regional /national chains. The bacon is mixed in with the meat and makes unique flavor without too much bacon. It wasn’t too greasy and to the person on Unilocal who ordered a burger with lettuce and complained of the grease, well, think about it for a second to understand why there was grease in your basket. Fries were great, cooked in rice bran oil I believe which is unique to the peanut oil used at some national better-burger chains. Those who ordered the grilled cheese were surprised at the appearance(round) and size(two sandwiches). All good came out steaming hot and I even let mine sit for a few minutes and there wasn’t much grease in the basket. Fries(fresh made) were crispy and delicious. Portions are large so split me if you want to save some $. I didn’t have a shake or other specialty beverages so can’t comment on those. Place was clean, open and well decorated. Don’t let the location fool you when you arrive. All in all, I was glad I searched Unilocal to find this spot and hopefully more positive, helpful Unilocal reviews(vs some by apparent wanna be critics) get written to help this local, otbp, way above average, spot thrive because it is unique and worth the extra cash. I would put the food up against some of the top burger spots I have visited in culinary destinations such as NYC and Chicago.

Best burgers in the country!** I’m from New Jersey. I was on a 50-state tour of the United States and this family-owned restaurant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, made me feel at home. The burger I had here was simply the best burger I’ve ever had. Ever. For real. The strawberry milkshake was ONPOINT as well. I was a long ways away from home, but after the awesome experience at BurgerFry, I will do my best to get back here and eat my troubles away haha! The owner is SO awesome too. Her family has been in Cedar Rapids for generations and she was continuing in the family business tradition. She was an inspiration and her food reflects her commitment to great food and amazing attention to detail: the inside of the restaurant was so unique and retro. It was alive. I loved the décor, made me feel like I was on the set of Happy Days, with a modern feel. Overall, loved this place. Would recommend to everyone. Cheers!

Really not that great. It was a new chef and the burgers were dripping way too much grease. The grease became a puddle in the bottom of the basket it comes in. Fries weren’t anything to comment on. The shake I purchased for $ 5 had good flavor but was a liquid as opposed to being even partially frozen I ordered a lettuce wrap instead of a bun and the patty just came on a single piece of lettuce and I assumed I had to eat it with a fork. Asked for them to fix it and they just gave me 2 more pieces of lettuce. Party of 6 with me and no one liked it that much

I’ve been here once before this. The burgers are great. Reminds me of Five Guys. Can be a little spendy, about $ 12 for a combo.

Hard to go with this — more of a 3.5 overall. The location and setting are nice, retro-modern burger joint with an open kitchen like 5 Guys or similar. The burger itself was tasty, but at almost $ 10 for a burger and soda — no fries — it seems a bit much. The quality of the ingredients was great, although I would pass on the jalapenos next time(they overpowered the rest of the burger, duh). Short version: it’s a nice, expensive burger. I hear the fries are good too but didn’t want to hit the credit card too hard just for lunch.

We went to Burger Fry for the 5th or 6th time and once again, had a fabulous, old-fashioned, flat grilled burger! Little crunchies on the outside, juicy inside, on the slightly greasy side(as a flat grilled burger should be), and a great choice of toppings. The fries are real potatoe fresh cut, and the malt was excellent! The malt was so large and very thick! I always feel so guilty as I know these aren’t the healthiest choices, but when you need to slip off your diet, this is the place to go. The staff is very friendly and appreciative of their customers — they always are smiling and thank us for coming. For a «fast food», totally midwestern burger joint, I give them 5 stars! Will definitely return!

First time here. 2 adults 2 kids, $ 43.00. Food was really good. Most likely will be back in the future, not sure its worth the premium price. Large fry will feed 4. I hope they can succeed, and find a way to lower prices.

Heard great things. This place did not disappoint! I got a single burger w cheese caramelized onions and jalapeños. Boyfriend got a bacon burger with pickles. Both were great! We also shared a small fry and got a huge portion. Staff was extra friendly and the interior was cool. Can’t wait to go back!

Today was our 2nd visit and we brought the kids. There are 5 of us. The bill was $ 63 after fries and 3 shakes. Quite expensive and not something we could do everyday, maybe once every few months. Today’s meal wasn’t quite as good as it was earlier this week. I could taste the bacon in the last burger I had but today i couldn’t detect it at all. The patties seemed smaller but they were still juicy. We got two baskets of large fries. One basket was slightly underdone while the second basket was overdone, slightly burned, and inedible. I did bring it to the attention of the staff. She offered to replace it but at that point we were almost done eating and a replacement wasn’t necessary. She did apologize but didn’t offer to make it right for us upon our next visit. Something I would have expected.(Note I didn’t realize right away that they were burned as this basket was at the other end of two tables and belonged to the kids. They didn’t touch them.) Only 3 stars for today’s visit based on the following: 1.) Price. $ 63 for a family of 5 for lunch is a budget breaker. Bringing everyone here on a consistent basis isn’t feasible. I would expect to pay around $ 7 average per person for a place like this not $ 12 per person. 2.) Food Quality. Something was just a bit off today. My wife even agreed that it wasn’t quite up to par for what we expected based on our first visit. The burned fries made for a bad taste thus making me take away one more star. Overall the food was good(great last time) and we will be back or maybe I just might sneak in alone and enjoy what just might be the best burger joint in Cedar Rapids. Keep up the good work Burgerfry.

Burgerfry has become very popular very quickly, spreading mostly by word of mouth. It is in an odd location between a furniture store and a Sears neighborhood store because it’s locally owned by the same owners of the surrounding businesses. I’ve never been to a Five Guys Burgers & Fries, but they seem to use a similar business model with a short and simple menu: a few burgers(choice of toppings), hot dog, fries and shakes. You order at the counter and get an unobstructed view of the kitchen. Get a number and your own fountain drink and they bring your order after a short wait. The fresh cut fries are awesome and the small is as big as any other place’s large. The burgers have a medium thickness, maybe a 1/3# patty served on a tasty, toasted bun. Add swiss or american cheese for an extra 50 cents or a fried egg for a buck. Don’t forget the grilled onions. The old school shakes are handmade and delicious. Bring your wallet, a burger, fries and shake will set you back about $ 14 but you won’t leave hungry. I’d pick Burgerfry over the Starlite Room any day of the week.
