Their Margaritas are super strong. Their food is nothing to die for. Very common place for people to hang out at for chips, salsa & margs.

Not only the food is fantastic but the owner goes all out to provide service at his restaurant as well as with his catering. Edgar Barrios of HACIENDALASGLORIAS responded to my need for food, delivered it hot, driving from 25 miles from Cedar Rapids, and I only gave him a 4-hour notice! Unfortunately the food was so awesome I probably gained 3 – 5 pounds last night! Thank you Edgar for the Awesome Food as well as the Awesome Service!

Food was decent but our waitress, Rocio, wasn’t the best. When we asked her for more salsa she kind of smirked, as if was an inconvenience for her, and finally brought us half a container. Never once did she refill my water. When we were finished and getting ready to leave she awkwardly asked for my money that I was holding. ok… Seems like we were rushed the whole time. Also Rocio, next time you are gossiping about your small tip with your coworkers, clearly you three were staring at us as we left, maybe you should consider why you received so little… lose the attitude! I’m hoping she was just having a bad day and isn’t always like that. The previous reviews all sound like service is terrific and fast so that’s why I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt.

The best chips and salsa! The service is fast. Love that they always remember what we order. Great staff everyone is always friendly.

It’s the best you can get in Cedar Rapids. They have to fight with the«Iowan» Bland, and Blander taste buds. So spices and flavors are dumbed down. But it’s the best Tex-Mex in CR. I try to change up, but for me the Enchilada Micasa has the flavor and spice I enjoy. To the posters that indicate it needs a bit of remodeling, they have been reupholstering, and painting the booths and building. What I miss is the original owners who worked as servers there. Now they have a hired crew.

Had another fine meal from this establishment. Icy cold 32 oz Modelo Negro. Yum. I had the Garibaldi, which has never let me down in the past. Today was no exception. Hot and very spicy! Owner stopped by to make sure everything was good… and it most certainly was. Will be back!

Good Mexican food but the margarita I tried was terrible. Service was fast and good. All I got was a cheese quesadilla and it was fantastic… But how hard can it be?

1 star for flavor. We have been here many times, but tonight the chimichanga was soooo small. I should have taken a picture but I was afraid it would get cold. It was thin, about 3×4 inches. I also got a jumbo marg, which was extremely weak — basically mix and ice. We were extremely disappointed and the waitress couldn’t have cared less. If you want authentic food and drink AND your money’s worth, this is not the place. We won’t be back.

Honestly, I wasn’t impressed. The food is far from authentic. However, it is edible it’s not terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it, I have gotten sick both times i have eaten there. I had the shrimp, chicken and steak fajita(shrimp had no flavor, chicken was ok and steak was bland). The second time I had the enchiladas, again just too much stuff. I’ll take quality over quantity any day. The place doesn’t seem to need my business regardless. It’s always full, I would assume maybe drink deals? It can’t be the food.

Solid three star rating in the cheap Mexican race. Two stars for existing. One star for serving edible food. The whole place has seen better days — everything is worn out, ripped, wobbly or just plain dirty. Try not to look at the floor if you can help it, although looking up only gives a view of all the exposed hvac. It is quite a date spot. The concrete floor behind the bar and nasty bathroom seal the deal. Service and speed are decent but all margaritas had the same 3 second pre-mix pour, just different amounts of ice. Medium blended strawberry had the same booze as a jumbo regular on the rocks. I watched a dozen drinks all go out with the same 3 second pour, the technique was well practiced. Maybe order beers instead. I wouldn’t say don’t try this place. What I would say is if you like another dirty, dark little Mexican joint that pours decent drinks, go there first. The food isn’t awful. Edible. $ 10 – 15 for decent entrees.

Tried their lunch buffet. It was convenient but small. The quesadilla, fajita meat and rice were the only items worth eating again. Service was good. The booth seating is saggy and uncomfortable

Run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Same as the rest-big platter of bland ok food. Good service… nice clean place. keeps your stomach from rumbling… but not worth going there for… food and enterainment… the McDonalds of the Mexican food industry…

I’m in Cedar on business for a couple of weeks, and I’m eating out just about every night. Now I won’t preface this review with«I’m from California so I’m picky about Mexican food.» Okay, so there you go. But I’ve been living in Portland, OR for the last decade so I’ve lowered my standards in regards to Mexican food. But this crap. Oh no. The place is kind of a dump. Okay no it’s really a dump. At 630 on a Thursday the bar was packed. With drunks. And a 6 or 7 year-old girl. Sitting at the bar. That’s right, sitting at the bar. I don’t know what the law is in Iowa, but I’m fairly certain a kid shouldn’t be at the bar. Ordered a margarita. I can say with absolute certainty that was the worst margarita I’ve ever had in my life. It tasted like someone got the tequila and margarita mix swapped out with simple green and rubbing alcohol. The shrimp fajitas? Holy hell, it was a pile, a mound rather, of over-salted and over-cooked bell peppers and onions with a smattering of over-cooked shrimp. Maybe the theme of the night was ‘over.’ I don’t know. The little wad of guacamole on my rice and beans was brown. Terrible. What else can I say? This place sucks. Bad.

Being from Arizona anytime ordering Mexican food, it is a gamble. The building was not Mexican authentic, but was pretty cleverly done. The food was decent. The chips and salsa were palatable. Not fantastic, but not bad. I suspect this will be one of the better authentic places you will find in this neck of the woods. If I lived here I would return.

The service was terrible! Left us sit at the booth with no menu for 30 min. Rude and the food was flavorless. We won’t be going back. Don’t waste your time and money.

One of the worst meals I have had in a while. First, the place is kind of a dump. Based on another review I tried the ribs. I should have been clued in by the low price, but I went ahead and ordered them. I visit Iowa a lot and always enjoy the beef and pork, but this was a salty, fatty, over sauced chewy mess. I would avoid this place at all costs. The prices are cheap, but this just reinforces the old saying«you get what you pay for»

Ok this is my second review of them. Things are getting better. They appear to be coming back to how good they were in the past. If you had doubts give them a try now.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I am in Cedar Rapids. The margaritas are the best I’ve ever encountered, and the food is authentic, delicious, and filling. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient. Give this place a try!
