Kathy’s Pies

Holy delicious! I had the opportunity to sample a great number of Kathy’s Bakery Delights recently and each one was absolutely magical.
the spread at a recent Gathering included Cherry, Dutch Apple, Pecan and Toll House pies. He’s been good enough that I feel they could probably be used as currency in a lot of places and certainly if there was some sort of apocalyptic event in the near future, I would certainly be looking to trade for one of these!
The most intriguing part of the bunch was the Toll House pie. It was made to mimic a chocolate chip cookie and it did a really good job. The filling was similar to a chess pie with lot a of chocolate chips and a hint of diabetes. The top was a cookie, fulfilling a long standing wish to see the forces of dessert combine, much like a delicious captain planet.
This is the sort of place that you go and give them a blank check with your name on it. I must try for anybody who is a fan of pies and even worth it if you’re a cake person!

My mom’s name is Kathy and I never thought I’d find someone who could make pies as good as hers. But good lord. These pies are delicious.

What a wonderful gem hidden in the area between Cedar Rapids downtown and Newbo. The smell of warm baked goods hits you as soon as you walk in, and it takes everything in your power to not buy everything in the entire bakery. Kathy’s Pies offers everything from pies (obviously) to cookies to streusels to cheese cake and more!
The staff is wonderful and welcoming. It’s quite a treat! There are single, individual servings for a quick bite for yourself or entire pies and cakes for you and your guests for any occasion.
I had never heard of this place until a friend took me there. So here’s from me to you: go check it out!

They have great pies. Had the caramel apple, very rich and flavorful. The crumb top added a nice touch, the caramel was excellent, and the filing was spot on. Look forward to trying more.
Had the chocolate chip cookies, for 55 cents they are a very good deal and are pretty good.
Great pie options for those who love a nice homemade pie with great flavor.

We first ordered Kathy’s Pies at Thanksgiving. I think we tried about 6 different flavors and I was very satisfied… until eating leftovers and discovering hair in the Bayou Goo. It didn’t stop me from eating the slice (because it was that good), but we probably won’t return again.
