Really wasn’t very good. First time I’ve visited this location. I watched a customer walk out of the BATHROOM and hand a dirty paper towel to the guy wrapping the pizzas with his gloves on, which he DIDNOTCHANGE afterwards. The girl making pizzas next to him was chomping on gum. GROSS! What if it fell out of her mouth? Won’t revisit this location for sure!

Hands down best take and bake pizza in Cedar Rapids and one of the best pizza chains overall. I don’t know of any other local chain that offers toppings like sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, zucchini, whole roasted garlic cloves and feta cheese. Their new gourmet delight pizzas, steak with roasted garlic and spicy fennel sausage with sun dried tomatoes, take their pizzas to a whole new level.

This is another of those food places I used to order from all the time because of good service and food and prices. I ordered a Mediteranian Pizza DeLite without meat and substituted a veggie for it. I don’t know why every restaurant in Cedar Rapids screws up orders when you substitute a vegetable for meat or cheese, but it always happens to me and ticks me off more every time it happens. I can’t afford to keep spending money on screwed up food. I have not eaten pizza out in a few years and decided I would pick up what used to be my favorite pizza. The pizza was made without spinach and I noticed it when they handed it to me and asked about it. The girl apologized and asked the guy who made it who apologized. She took the pizza back and threw some spinach on top. This pizza is great when spinach is on the bottom, but on top it just dries up and ruins the texture of the pizza. When I got it home and baked it, I took a bite and it was dripping olive oil everywhere. They put way too much oil on it.(This one has garlic oil instead of red sauce. I find their red sauce too sweet and this is the only pizza I really like from there.) I had also texted like their poster suggested to get free cookie dough with an order, but didn’t get the text until after I left. I won’t be going back here again for a long time, at least not to order anything for myself. I recently made Pizza Margherita from scratch for a class at school and it was much better tasting though I prefer a thin crust.

Good for a take and bake, though you can really get the same thing from Hy-Vee but with less topping choices. If you really want to make a pie your own on the cheap Papa Murphys is a good way to go. I am a big fan of their stuffed pizza too which has a layer of crust on the top and is like an open calzone that will fill you up very nicely.

For take-n-bake pizzas, I feel this is as good as it gets. With that in mind, this review is NOT comparing Papa Murphy’s to a sit-down restaurant(though it could pretty well hold its own). I am only comparing to other take-n-bakes and frozen pizzas. Papa Murphy’s is a great value and the flavor is quite good. I like the $ 3.99 Pepperoni Delite pizzas that you often find on Fridays. For a couple dollars more, I prefer to stop by the grocery store on the way home and buy a few salad bar items(such as bacon bits, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, olives, blue cheese crumbles, etc) to load the pizza up and catapult it to incredible. Yum! One tip that is important is to start with a preheated oven. The crust then bakes up with a cracker-like snap. Like any pizza, how you cook it affects the flavor of the cheese, other toppings, and crust. Start with a hot oven and you can make this pizza come out more delicious than one from the expensive dine-in places. The baker makes the difference and you are that person. I’ve been to a number of Papa Murphy’s locations and prefer the one on Center Point Road for the best customer service. It’s fast and friendly. The manager also informed me how often he cuts fresh veggies even more frequently than the corporation’s requirements. This makes a big difference. Try one of the thin crust pizzas and spruce it up a little with some of your own goodies. Bake it right and I am sure you will love their pizza too.
