Penguin’s Comedy Club

First time ever doing anything in cedar rapids for fun (after all those cameras on the highway are nonsense). I thought for a comedy club the drinks were priced very well and almost dirt cheap relative to bars downtown CR. Overall I enjoyed my experience, but I hated that they had high tables in the front row of the side (I like seeing the comic not some boobs bald head). Also the start was a good 30 – 40 minutes later than it was supposed to be (which I hate). the show was great and the host was funny, probably will come back again

It’s nice having something different to do as an adult in Cedar Rapids. One gets tired of movies and just hanging out in bars.
The flood of ’08 forced the move of this business and I for one will say that it was a blessing. The «new» place is cleaner and the ceiling is a little higher! The bathrooms are definitely better.
Wide variety of beer/​drinks available. Two drink minimum for the show, but that is standard. The bucket of beer is a better deal than buying individually, so pony up the $ 15 and enjoy.
The cost for tickets on an average evening is very reasonable. Buy in advance and get a little bit of a discount.
Last time we went, we caught the early show and there were less than 20 of us in the audience. Props to the comedians, it’s hard to keep going when there are so few people laughing. I for one like off color and tasteless jokes, so I’m always laughing.
