Theisen’s

Went to the NE location after seeing an ad for a cheap kayak for 189.00. After speaking with a clueless salesman, we inquired on one of the larger kayaks since they didn’t have the smaller ones available in our color choices. The person on the other end verified the larger kayak was on sale as well.
Spent about 30 minutes holding 1 of the larger kayaks from the other store and purchasing 1 from the NE location. After this was all rung up, the employee checked the system and put an extremely larger price than what was told over the radio system to the salesman. We said we wanted to cancel everything after they wasted our time, no apology, no re direct to get a smaller kayak that was at our price point, and flat out rude to my girlfriend and I… And the salesperson who made the mistake. Extremely unprofessional.
We walked out and bought 2 more expensive model kayaks from Menards 10 minutes later. Will never return to Theisens for anything else.

I like this store. They are friendly and helpful. There is a LOT of merchandise in this store and I can usually find what is needed. The prices are sometimes a little on the high side but usually more toward the middle of the pack. I did find some awesome bargains on gloves and winter boots this year.
I’m very happy with the automotive service department. They have always treated me well and have done a fine job on the reasonably priced oil changes. It’s great to be able to have the car serviced here rather than at the high priced car dealer to the east.
Theisen’s has a ton of snacks here and somehow candy or nuts always end up getting purchased — no complaints though! I also love the free popcorn!
This is a wonderful store and I’m glad we have a couple of them in Cedar Rapids.

The main reason I go to Theisen’s is it is the only place in the area that I’ve found that sells bulk bird seed. They also have a great variety of bird feeders in stock. They cater a lot of farm/​garden supplies as well as tools, automotive, tires and clothing. Their customer service is very friendly and helpful as well.
