First off I have to confess: I’ve never tried the Phoenix… I know, I know, horrible! Detestable! Waste of a perfectly good name/opportunity! But I just really dig their ice cream! They’ve always got the classics there, although I could not name them off the top of my head without looking because I’m lazy and have a bad memory when it comes to listing off flavors! But the prices are decent, especially when you consider you’re having actual ice cream in what amounts to an ice cream parlor! The people who work there vary from friendly and bubbly to quiet and curt. It’s a hit or miss for staff honestly. But I know that when I tried a sandwich there a couple months ago I thoroughly enjoyed it: good meats, great bread, tasty greens and toppings. Mm. To recap: I go for the ice cream, but I will have to go back to try that sandwich!

Used to go here as a small kid and it’s just as exciting to go back and visit as an adult. Very little had changed in this location since I lived there in the late 90’s/early 00’s so it is nostalgic to visit! I don’t think I’ve ever really had a sub or anything from here so I can only really judge based on the ice cream. Of course, Wisconsin ice cream is nearly always delicious, but there is something special about the Chocolate Factory! I love the classic old school ice cream parlor feel, makes everything even better. I knew I had to get blue moon because that is a rare find in Arizona! And it’s not quite as good in AZ as it is at ice cream shops in Wisconsin. So I got a waffle cone with one scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream and one scoop of blue moon ice cream. They tasted very very good together. I ate the whole thing! Good quality ice cream. My friend was very excited that they had cookie dough ice cream with peanut butter, and had it in a milkshake. He said it was one of the best shakes he’s had! I agree. Chocolate factory is great!

The manager was very rude and constantly yelled hands up. I felt threatened and very offended. This is not a great place. An elder couple were fondling each other. Very distasteful.

I can’t vouch for the sandwiches here but after a visit for some ice cream I was pretty impressed by the flavor and variety. The chocolate factory is located in Cedarburgs heavily trafficked downtown– there is only street parking for this location. The ice cream counter has a huge selection but no prices listed because they weigh your cone. Weird. This is rather strange to me to have an ice cream cone weighed like your in a cafeteria. Fix this chocolate factory. I did really like my bourbon pecan pie ice cream in a chocolate dipped cone. They only have milk chocolate dipped waffle cones, no dark chocolate. The counter gal looked at me like I came from another planet when I asked. Maybe she should visit some other ice cream shops to see that they have dark chocolate and prices per cone and scoop.

The Chocolate Factory is tasty, man. Their bread is just perfect — it has a nice crunch while still being soft in the middle. They use quality ingredients and they make them pretty fast, too. This Cedarburg location has a really nice hometown feel to it and the people are really friendly. Sub-wise, I get the Phoenix. It’s a turkey/bacon/jalapeño bacon/pepperjack situation. A great situation. I love this situation. I get it every time. Extra chipotle mayo please — I’m not on a diet this week. They serve dessert too… it’s called The Chocolate Factory for God’s sake. What I love about this place is they have dark chocolate fudge. As a dark chocolate lover, this is very special. I’ll take a Dusty Road(malt) Sundae with dark chocolate fudge, please. Extra dusty. Subs and ice cream. I like it.

This place is a Cedarburg landmark. The subs are subs, and the ice cream is ice cream. You can’t go horribly wrong with either. I love getting a scoop of the blue moon from here. My boyfriend got the peanut butter cookie dough– amazing! After you been strolling around for a few hours, this is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a sweet treat.

WILLYWONKAWOULDBEPROUD I’ll start out by saying that subway sandwiches are not main attractions in my food repertoire, but Chocolate Factory offers some compelling reasons to give them a second look. I had relatives in town, and finding a place that appeals to a broad cross-section of family, including a 78-year-old in-law proved challenging. The Chocolate Factory came through for us. The booths were spacious enough to fit everyone in – it felt like going to church, only with ice cream and subs. SCENT-SATIONAL What I’m talking about here isn’t what I smell when I walk in. It’s what I do NOT smell, and I appreciate that, believe me! When I walk into a typical sub sandwich shop I’m usually hit with the rank odor of yeasty buns that smell like feet. The Chocolate Factory’s bread is warm and tasty, flakey in fact. And in addition to typical sub sandwiches, one can opt to have their sub prepared croissant-style! My fav sandwich? The Turkey with pepper giardienara, lettuce, cranberry, and onions. It was tasty. The subs all have ridiculous names, and I can’t remember the signature of the one I ordered. I chose the mini version, which was just the right size(½ sub) for $ 2.99. You can also make it a combo with chips and a drink. OTHEROFFERINGS Home made chili, and the soup of the day(I tried the vegetable and it was not a highlight, but not bad). And of course a soda fountain stocked with quality Blommer’s Ice Cream, priced by the ounce. If sundae’s are your thing, some of Chocolate Factory’s offerings are enough to tempt even Kate Moss. THESERVICE Mostly above average service is what you can depend on with this joint. I only had one dolt behind the counter who had delusions of adequacy. I asked if they had vegetarian chili, and he assured me they did. When I got it, there was meat in it. When I brought it to his attention, somehow I was the idiot. They walk amongst us. The Chocolate Factory also offers carryout. OTHERALTERNATIVESINTHEAREA If you’re in the area and sitting inside is not an issue, Out & Out down the street has some savory, healthy, tasty items – and custard(yuck) instead of ice cream if that’s your bag. For a family, Chocolate Factory is a solid choice. RATING 4STARS for one of Cedarburg’s iconic old-fashioned ice cream parlors.

Amazing ice cream! This is one of my favorite places to take my nieces and nephews for a special treat when they come to visit me.

My wife and I love this place! It has great food at a decent price! Great ice cream! Staff is usually very helpful and nice. A great family atmosphere! We try to go at least once a month, especially in the summer time for ice cream.

I always love the Chocolate Factory. Haven’t been to one yet that I do not like. I’ve been to the ones in Waukesha, West Bend and Cedarburg. Love the Phoenix, and the Blackberry Turkey is quite good as well.

Want some delicious ice cream? Come here! The best part about this place was the fact that it was practically connected to the Inn we were staying at. So after our meal at Morton’s, we decided to get some ice cream and eat it at the inn. I ordered the mint one, and my husband got cookies and cream. It was cheap, delicious, and definitely hit the spot!

The ice cream is great! but they charge by weight, next the subs on great bread are the best, this place rocks, parking is hard to find, well worth the walk!

Nothing fantastic but if you need a break from window shopping, this is as good a place as any for food. I tried their new pulled pork sandwich, the only thing missing was… pulled pork, the portion was quite small. Families love this place and from what I tell they give back to the community. The ice cream harkens back to some old school flavors. Fun décor too.
