Just drove past and confirmed that Mother Kelly’s is indeed closed– seems like they have another location on the island– what a shame because of changing demographic’s

Friendly service while dining in Their calamari is surprisingly good I tend to always get their penne ala vodka with breaded chicken cutlet. The rumors are true– they’ll be closing down in two weeks, which is unfortunate to see a Five Towns staple close its doors. I give only three stars bc I haven’t tried enough of their menu items to rate it more comprehensively

Very good garlic pizza, delivery driver was great, I accidentally gave him a $ 1 tip and he thanked me like I gave him a $ 20, once I realized my mistake I ran after him and gave him another $ 5, I will order from them again

I loved this Resturant from day one. When they moved to the larger location I think the food got even better. Mother kelly is the sweetest. She greets you at the door and always sends us free desserts to out table. The food is always top notch like real authentic Italian food and experience. The staff is always friendly. The Resturant is always clean and has a home feeling. If you want to go to a resturant where you feel like your part of the family then go eat at mothers kelly.

Quite frankly, I can tell you why ‘Mother’ is quite fitting, Several years ago, a number of our flight crews arrived hungry at the hotel and someone suggested coming over to Mother Kelly’s. We arrived just before the kitchen closed and we were greeted like long lost family, our coats taken and each of us taken over to a table in the still-crowded restaurant. The warm, wonderful woman who greeted us shook our hands, hugged us and kissed each of our cheeks as each of us newcomers introduced ourselves. That’s the type of hospitality that makes this an absolutely great restaurant, hospitality that makes New York restaurants so great. The food was excellent, and just incredible. OMG. Over the years, we’ve come in here and had excellent food and service. We’ve been greeted as ‘her boys’ and taken in her arms to our table. I think that you won’t find a dud on the menu — but I must admit, in all the years I’ve been coming here, I haven’t had every item on the menu. What I’ve had has been absolutely superlative. Customer service is superb without being fawning. Prices are excellent for the value received.

We ordered yesterday for delivery for the first time from this place. The Warm and Cold salad that I had was absolutely to die for and I would give it easily 5 stars but the Grandma pizza and the chicken Parm hero were alright. My husband had ordered those and he said they weren’t as good. The taste, he said, was blunt salty but not flavorful. However all the times I’ve ordered this salad I have always been extremly happy with it. I would order the salad from here again and again! Also A+ for their service today!

Incredible Italian comfort food. I have been coming here since I was a child and always get the chicken penne a la vodka. All of their food is good and large. This is really some of the best Italian food I have ever had. I always make a point to grab some before heading back to the city whenever I am in 5 Towns.

Decent and fast turnaround for a pizza order in a very convenient location directly at the Cedarhurst Long Island RailRoad station. That makes this place a convenient stop if you’re commuting and just want a nibble of something on your way home, but I honestly cannot recommend coming here for a good family style meal or even a pizza when Marinara is just a few miles away.

Good Italian comfort food. Fairly large portions for a decent price. Service was attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s also kid friendly and a nice, casual place to come with your family.

We landed at Mother Kelly’s after spending the day at Atlantic Beach with friends and family. I did some Unilocal searching and it came highly reviewed, so we gave it a go. I have to say that the majority of the Unilocalers know what they’re talking about! This traditional family-style Italian restaurant is not trying to impress with fancy cutting edge food. What they do instead are the Americanized classics. First of all, the garlic rolls(kind of like cinnamon rolls but instead garlic-y) were out of this world! I also enjoyed the 3 bean salad that came with them. We had a nice salad next, and the homemade balsamic was extremely good. I had the baked ziti for dinner, and when it came out from the kitchen, I couldn’t believe the size of it!!! My brother had the lasagne, which came with meatballs. He said it was extremely good! My ziti was just what I’ve been looking for at similar-style spaces, but can’t just seem to find. There was just the right amount of ricotta and a ton of melted mozzarella on top. The sauce was yummy as well. We also ordered dessert, but it wasn’t homemade. It was just one of those box desserts that many restaurants had – not great, not bad. Overall, I really enjoyed myself at Mother Kelly’s. If you’re looking for fresh, traditional Italian, this is a good bet.

I went to Mother Kellys a few days ago with my wife for diner with a certificate. We ordered a lasagna and a eggplant parm for dinner. Both dishes were good and my lasagna came with 2 meatballs as part of the dish. Service here was good and was responsive to our needs. This was a good dinner but was not in any means extraordinary on any level. The amount given on the certificate was woefully small i comparison to the bill. The price to value ratio was around or slightly below average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a good experience but left nothing to write home about.

Always a delight to eat at this local establishment. The service is splendid and the food is great and plentiful… Very well cooked and very big portions. Sharing is recommended. AND make sure you get a good hot slice of pizza as an appetizer. Very comfortable and very good.

I came here for a friend’s 50th birthday party I am dying to go back again. The food served at the party was excellent and there was a plentiful supply. There was a dance space in the party room along with comfortable seating. Seems like a great place to eat!

had big family dinner on a Tuesday night. Food was very good, but the fried appetizers and sauces gave me and my wife heartburn galore! Avoid the buffalo calamari! we had the seafood fettuccini, balsamic chicken, and alot of their mini pizza breads which were even better than the garlic knots!

Came here for lunch last week. As good as always. Sometimes they have an «off-the-menu» special they offer you. OMG! Great, GREATSTUFF! Baked ziti is still outstanding, the desserts are to die for! Veal and chicken, just the way I like it. I have been a crazed fanatic for their boneless Chicken Cacciatore for years. If you can make it in for an early dinner, you’ll feel loved and pampered. Heck, even when it’s busy, it’s love and pampering too! LOL!

Went here for lunch with some co-workers and it was ok. What I sampled: Pepperoni Pizza Decent, but on an island with so many choices, I am not running back. Lobster Bisque Pretty disappointing overall. The flavor was bland and the chunks of fake crab, though plentiful were just ok. Garlic Knots Best part of the meal! The service, was alright. The hostess(possibly owner or manager) was very accommodating finding us a large enough space for our group. My friend ordered an iced tea and luckily before he drank it another person pointed out that there was a Snapple cap in the bottom of the glass! We were able to laugh it of and they replaced it right away, but I still can’t figure out how it got in there underneath the ice unnoticed! Overall I may return for a solid meal after work, but with so many Italian restaurants to try, I don’t know how quickly that will be.

Thank You Mother Kelly’s! I was so sick of Kosher food and then I found YOU!(Not that I even keep kosher, just live in the area, and most of the places are Kosher) You served us right tonight with huge portions, yummy salads, garlic knots and some of the best dessert I have had in quite a while! I hope this restaurant stays around forever! We’ll be back! Ciao! Beth and Donny

Have not been here in years, but I thought about this place today. The garlic knots!!! Holy Cannoli, they are awesome! Some of the review reflect that the awesome-ness of Mother Kelly’s may have gone down. Bummer! Either way I remember dining here, the bean salad and the lasagna were really great. I often miss places like this with old world charm, the plate portions true to Italian family style, this was certainly the American way. Over sized portions you should not leave hungry!

I recently dined here on a Friday evening with my wife and in-laws. Apparently it’s one of the few places open on a Friday night in Cedarhurst — of which I was unaware. I would put this place in the category of quantity over quality. What we ordered: I had the chicken marsala — 2 large breaded and fried cutlets(unexpected and disappointing) and slathered in a heavy, creamy sauce that had a hint of marsala — not good. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs, the meatballs were on the dry side — the sauce was good though. My mother in law had the hot and cold salad with grilled salmon — she said it was delicious, but I didn’t taste it. Father in law had some kind of meat platter — which was also swimming in a suspicious creamy brown sauce — not for me. On a good note — the burnt broccoli was delicious — a little on the oily side, but heavy on the garlic and tender. Verdict — I will pass. Too much cream sauce — should be indicated on the menu.
