Really interesting to read about Winston Hill’s illustrious past in the NFL. He must have learned something about BBQ while he was in Texas because it shows in the meats. Although his brisket is sliced with the grain instead of against it(which most would consider taboo!) it doesn’t really suffer from it since the meat is cooked very well. Well cooked brisket according to KCBS judging standards should not be tough(undercooked), dry, or mushy(overcooked) and a slice shouldn’t fall apart as you pick it up and should pull apart easily. The sliced brisket was cooked well. The sliced pork was served in medallions which would make the cut of meat a loin muscle as opposed to the normal pork butt(shoulder) and was also tender, moist and flavorful. The ribs had some bark, enough flavor and smoke, and on a bite test did not pull away or fall off of the bone(overcooked) or not bite through cleanly(undercooked), which again would score well at a BBQ contest. Their smoked sausage has a lot of garlic, chile powder, and a good hit of cumin. The flavor remindis me of a Mexican chorizo. I liked it quite a bit. The part of the meal I did not care for was the single sauce that they serve with their BBQ. I’ve tasted lots of sauces judging BBQ and there is a spice or flavor present in their sauce that I am not a fan of and in judging never scores well at competition. Whatever the spice is it’s a familiar smell and flavor which I often think of as a baking spice? Allspice? Clove? Whichever it is it’s way too overpowering and caused us to go next door to King Soopers and buy a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce to use instead. BTW a side note ~ some of the low scoring reviews were obviously written by people with little experience with real deal BBQ. Wonder bread is common, good barbecue places do run out of meats, most barbecue is not cheap, the counter person doesn’t want to be your friend?, go cry in your plain white milk. Just sayin’.

Got the $ 18 sampler on a Monday and it was the worst bbq I’ve ever had in my life. The brisket was at least 3 days old and rubbery, as soon as the potato salad hit my taste buds, they rejected it because it was sour and past its date, the baked beans were obviously Bush’s baked beans with nothing added. I will never go back in my life.

Excellent! The sliced brisket is to die for and the BBQ sauce is just perfect. Family owned and operated.

Best bbq in the area, heck, best bbq period. I love this place and recommend it to anyone looking for some good bbq. The brisket and the ribs are my favorite but everything here is very good. It’s a great place for take out for an office lunch or a party.

I’ve dined at this place twice and the smell is great but the food is just ok, however the service is really rude especially the scary lady behind the counter. I’m also not down with microwaved food especially at their prices! People swear about this place and the only swearing I see are the people working inside when you come to place an order. What a shame.

Great!!! I walked in 5 mins before they closed and the lady was still polite and professional. This was my first eating here and it was good! The BBQ sauce was a sweet and I found myself almost drinking the stuff, very good! Thank you for a good experience! I will be back!

Quite disappointed. Always about trying a new place and supporting the local community(though I know its been here for years — I just moved back into the area). I always approach with a smile and really expecting the best from our community. Owner was less than enthusiastic about a smiling new face in his business(same with the family member working at the time). Food was bland and meat was dry. Dirty place too(not just from the smoker either.) Every item I ordered was heated in the microwave(and I tried a little of everything from the menu).

We got there just before 6 on a Saturday evening(they are open til 8) and they were out of ribs. How does a BBQ place run out of ribs? The woman behind the counter was not in the least bit helpful or apologetic, she thought it was funny. Never again!!!

New in the area, I had their brisket and ribs the other day. It is delicious. The meat are tender and flavorful and the BBQ is not too sweet. I’m not a big BBQ fan but I love their food here.

So yummy! And I didn’t have to leave my neighborhood for good BBQ! Awesome info about the owner… . Tried the beef brisket, chopped brisket, chicken, baked beans, cork on the cob, potato salad, & coleslaw. I’d definitely go with the beef brisket and beans again.

I tried the pork sandwich first. Little dry but good flavor. Had to use the sauce for a medium. Sauce is kinda interesting… Also tried the brisket sandwich. Not too bad. They slice it thin cause of the quality of brisket isn’t quite there. If they sliced it any thicker it would be too chewy. I give this place 3 starts cause it’s worth trying but won’t go out of my way to get again.

Not a fan at all of this place… Sorry. It’s a take out place which is fine, but the customer service was just really poor. The food and BBQ sauce was nothing at all to write home(or anywhere else) about. Was looking forward to some good smoked BBQ and didn’t receive it here at all.

The brisket was very good nice thin slices with a wonderful beefy flavor and just the right amount of smoke. Ribs were also very good nice and tender and juicy.

Holy smokes, Winston Hills has the best BBQ ever. We just had the greatest BBQ experience to date! Don’t go in expecting luxury, it’s a small strip mall restaurant with I three two top tables. So delicious.

This was excellent bbq. We live not too far from here and tried it for the first time. The meats were soooo juicy and delicious! We got brisket(wow) and the pork. The beans were great too. The corn on the cob was not so good… just a microwaved piece so quite mushy. Wont get that again. We will go back for sure!

I had really looked forward to trying this place and and was very disappointed. Everything was heated in the microwave. My chopped brisket was very dry. The sliced pork seemed to be pressed pork. The beans and coleslaw were nothing to be excited about.

I’ve passed by a few times, contemplating if it would be worth it or not. Finally, today after work I decided to give it a try. Thank goodness I did. Lady behind the counter wasnt the friendliest, but I just wanted to order and go. I got the Beef Brisket meal and dammm was I surprised. It was actually really good! Portions were more than enough. The slice of bread took me bac to the BBQ joints back in TX. Now I wanna go back and try other things on the menu!

It’s a takeout BBQ place, what more do people want? The brisket is the best I’ve ever had, and while their BBQ sauce kinda weirds you at first since it’s a little unconventional, even my non-BBQ loving wife liked it after she knew what to expect with it. The service is nothing different than I would expect from takeout BBQ. I’ve never experienced the«atrocities» that some people have claimed in their reviews, but the over the top bubbly greetings at the chain restaurants makes me want to puke. I’d rather people be real than fake. And their BBQ is real. Hand down. Beautiful ¼″ smoke ring all the way around the brisket. Very tender, great flavor. They have mastered brisket, which very few BBQ places have been able to do. I’ve had their ribs too, and they were certainly good, but not a highlight like their brisket. I kind of have to chuckle at the people complaining about the bread. This is a BBQ place, not a 5 star restaurant. Go to a good BBQ spot in KC, Memphis, TX, etc, you get a slice of bread. Nothing fancy. Exactly what you get here at Winston Hill’s. If you want good BBQ, you won’t be disappointed at Winston Hill’s. Just to add too, if I could buy their BBQ sauce by the gallon, I would totally do it.

Best BBQ ever and here’s why… These guys use real hardwood to slow smoke their meets. A lot of other so called BBQ places are really just roasted meet with BBQ type sauce. This is really not a restaurant to dine in… just get the food and go. The only negative is that I’m too poor to eat here and the smell of the fire/food is just an absolute torture to me every time I go to the King Soopers next door. Dickies, Brothers… Hick House… they are all really just a joke compared to Winstons.

Really good ribs… Tasty sauce. Decent sides. Portions are huge and worth the money.
