One word — terrible. Terrible cooked food. Terrible service and staff. Terrible parking. Terrible selection of food. There are many good places to eat. The service has consistently gotten from bad to terrible.

I used to really enjoy this place but I don’t anymore, the last few times I feel like I’ve been ripped off. Especially today which will be my last time. Today they advertised 2.99 breakfast special 1 egg cheese and meat with orange juice so my boyfriend and I went in there and I said can I have two of the breakfast special sandwich with fried eggs and he said yes and when he went to ring us up I said can we have the orange juice and he said«No this isn’t the special you got 2 eggs» Last time I checked I said the special when I ordered nor did I say two eggs. It is like what you say goes in one ear and out the other because this isn’t the first time this place has messed up an order. ORDERACCURACY –10 Another time I went here I got my little brother a chicken sandwich and the chicken cutlet was so chewy and hard it had to be old. Gross.

Food isn’t always the freshest here but the egg sandwiches are always top notch! Employees are nice but the service can be somewhat slow at times. Decent place for a quick bite to eat, but nothing more.

In the 80’s family-owned sub and hero shops used to be very popular on Long Island. Unfortunately many of them went out of business due to the saturation of corporate versions(Subway, Blimpie, Quiznos). Homerun Heros is one of the few establishments that survived mainly because they make a variety of unique, delicious and overstuffed sandwiches at a decent price. This sub shop is my favorite on Long Island and I often drive 20 miles out of my way just to eat their food. They offer a creative mix of breakfast sandwiches/platters, hot/cold heros, salads, soups, wraps, burgers, daily specials and even dinners from bacon-stuffed meatloaf to fried flounder and pulled pork. There are also several tables if you decide to dine in. My favorite sandwiches to order are the hot subs which I’ve never seen at any other deli on Long Island. I usually order ‘The Mick’ which is chicken cutlet with lemon, butter and white wine sauce topped with melted mozzarella. Another personal favorite is ‘The Hank’ which is also chicken cutlet but with mushrooms and Marsala wine sauce and melted cheese. The other sub I love is ‘The Santana’ that comes with sliced marinated London Broil, mozzarella, grilled onions and peppers served on a garlic bread hero. These subs are available in both 6.5 inch and 13 inch offerings. Most delis on Long Island are overpriced and offer the same old tired sandwiches we’ve been eating for years. Homerun Heros is a refreshing departure from your ordinary deli fare. Special tip: if you are a student show your ID card for a 10% discount on your meal.

This is the best place around for breakfast sandwiches. Nice big rolls. Delisiouse Fresh home fries. There lunch sandwiches are heavy and very good

Used to be better, now it’s poor quality & skimpy at that! More bread and lettuce than anything else. Don’t even give this one a second look.

I love the Heros at this place, I usually end up hating myself lol but the place is amazing and they are always friendly, been eating here for over 5 years now.

Horrible, would have asked my sandwiches to be remade but unfortunately my husband got them to go, and we were half an hour away before we noticed. One sandwhich asked to hold mustard, was doused in mustard, completely inedible. Into the garbage it went, sadly. The other, a chicken cutlet sub, had 1 chicken cutlet on the entire footlong. Basically just slap a piece of whatever turkey is on sale at shop rite onto an Italian roll and you’re ahead of the game.

Ruined my grandmother’s birthday. We ordered 6 sandwiches and not one was correct… Rubens without dressing, Iron horse with ham, one sandwich had BONESINTHECHICKENCUTLETSTHATCUTMYMOTHER’S MOUTH(picture posted to Unilocal)!!! Not only is the food substandard and the service terrible, but you are literally at risk of injury while eating here. Stay away!

I have read a lot if reviews here saying the place dropped off with quality and service, I went there w a three man work crew for lunch and the place was pretty damn good. Yes it needs a makeover and the whole baseball motif is lame but the London broil was awesome. We got two of those London sandwiches and my other buddy got ham and Swiss on a roll with honey mustard. The ham and cheese was normal nothing special, just like a boars head sandwich should taste. But when you put a little A1 steak sauce on a London broil sandwich your taste buds kinda explode. I got a broccoli and cheese soup too, delicious ! I would recommend this place and would eat there again. I guess I’m Holding off on a fifth star because the building and décor could use an upgrade and there deserts lack and they don’t have every drink under the sun like some places, but the place is ligit.

disgusting !!! they used to be decent but I was there last week and the turkey on the sandwich was something that you would find in a can of Spam. The Mayonaise on the sandwich tasted like watered down milk. I did call to complain and the owner said he would make sure they fixed it but it was too late. Bottom line is they seem to use cheap quality products.

Get the Yogi! Great sandwich spot. Every type of cold cuts you can think of. They deliver as well.

Been coming here for years now, but it seems in the last year they have started to slowly decline in quality. I don’t know how many more times ill be coming back.

The heroes here are really good! Seriously I pick up from here for out-of-towners all the time and everyone loves them. I am surprised by the bad reviews because they are so good. They are nice and clean and always friendly. Great place!

Hero’s in my old hood. This place is literally right down the street from where I used to live before I escaped the scary suburbs for city life. It’s ok but mainly meh. Nothing like the great deli’s we have here in Manhattan, or the old classic Campus Heroes that me and the gang used to pick up great heros at almost every week when living out there. I still salivate just thinking about some of the gut busting subs I ate there! Have picked up a few heros when out here visiting family. Kind of kitschy with the heros all having baseball themed names. Time to retire the A-Rod sub! Basic variety of sandwiches/subs, salads, fries, etc, but nothing really worth going out of the way for.

Meh. Standard offering of deli meats + deli vegetables + cheeses + breads. Nothing stands out in either hot/cold subs or the soups/sides. The problem with C average food is that when(inevitably) something is missing or wrong with an order(like missing cheese or finding something on your sandwich you asked to be held), it drops the experience down to a D. Probably still good for big party subs, but as a lunch-stop deli, I’d keep driving.

Consistently good. Been eating here for years. For meat lovers I suggest the Bronx Bomber. If you want a more Italian taste though, this isn’t the place to go.

It’s scary how obsessive baseball fans can get? Anyways… This place has a lot of heros and cute little baseball names to go with it, such as A-Rod, K-Rod, The Clippers, etc… You get the idea. I ordered The Clippers, which has pastrami, melted mozzarella, mustard… For $ 7.95 at 13inches — quite a deal! Probably won’t be back… It could be better, if they had more selections of bread. Their hoagie bread… sucks.

My friend and I ordered a couple of heros from this deli and we weren’t satisfied at all. The service was mediocre –it took a lot longer than it should have to make a couple of sandwiches. I ordered an Italian hero, and it was one of –if not the– worst Italian hero(es) I’ve ever had. The bread they used wasn’t fresh, the cold cuts they used had a very economical taste to them(i.e. they tasted cheap, meanwhile the bill wasn’t) and I asked for«extra, extra onions», but only got ‘onions’. I wouldn’t go to this deli again; therefore, I wouldn’t recommend it to you.
