Having dinner at the Bistro 321 has been one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in recent history. The Crab Gratin was so highly seasoned that one could not taste the crab. After having the rest of the meal, that may have been a blessing in disguise. The Cajun Seafood Fettuccine was simply awful. The sauce was grey and tasted of uncooked flour. The scallops were so fishy tasting that they were uneatable. Obviously last week’s fish. Sautéed Brussels sprouts were very sharp tasting because they too were last week’s fare. When we told our server, there was no offer to bring another dish or to remove from the bill. I should have known when we went into the restaurant and we were the only people there. Other people were wiser than we. We will never go back. A very pitiful example of a restaurant, much less a gourmet restaurant.

My friend and I came in for dinner during our stay last weekend. We ordered a Cesar salad for appetizer and the mussels. The restaurant was absolutely dead so our apps came quickly. I will say, the mussels were some of the best mussels I’ve ever had. The cream sauce with the bacon was delicious! I ended up using my bread to soak up the sauce. The mussels were cooked perfectly and they were tender. The salad was nothing to rave about the it was good. The food presentation was beautiful. I loved their china. It had a very modern look to it. My friend and I decided to share the steak. It came with these weird potatoes and asparagus. We ordered the Rib eye. The steak was huge. It was cooked a more than medium rare but it still tasted delicious. The asparagus was cooked well too. I’m sure everything was soaked in butter but it was all still good. Is it the best I’ve ever had? No. The service was great to start. Our hostess was very pleasant. Our server was nice too, but after we received our food, she wasn’t as attentive. We still had a nice time and the food was good.

On a mini break with friends in Central City/Black Hawk, staying at The Reserve. We wanted good quality food after lunch in the resident café left us all feeling less than okay. We were all tired and didn’t want to drive anywhere for dinner, so we decided on Bistro 321. Pros of our visit: — Escaped the noise of the casino — Escaped cheap cafeteria food that didn’t sit well with us in the adjacent café. — Classy atmosphere — Meats cooked properly for us — Garlic purée potatoes were really good — Friendly service — Never went thirsty Cons of our visit: — Prices are too high for what they offer — Service is a little slow — «Hard» baked potato. It was cooked all the way through but needed to be cut into pieces and forked. You should be able to scoop out a baked potato. You really could do worse than Bistro 321. I wouldn’t be a regular of I lived in the area because I couldn’t afford it.

This dining experience left me feeling a little underwhelmed. For the high-end price point, I would expect the service standards to match the menu, but unfortunately it did not. Some basic service expectations missed, such as: water glasses remained empty the entire evening. I was given water because I ordered it, but my husband never got any water. He also had to wait 10 minutes for his beverage after I was served. Just kind of tacky. Our server was also not super attentive to refilling his coke, which at one point left him with literally nothing to drink with his dinner. For some, this might not be a huge deal, but for us the attentiveness to beverage needs is one key service component that we always expect from a nice restaurant. Serving 101. The food was average. He got the filet, just average. Not terrible but not amazing. The cook on the steak was a good medium just the way he ordered it. I got the roasted chicken, which also was good. But nothing amazing, but still moist and tender. The menu and restaurant over all is TINY. But if you don’t want a lot to choose from and are happy with just the standard steak & side options, this might be your joint.

Had the salmon special which was very good. Great wait staff. Wine selection could be better, not many wines offered by the glass. Worth eating at if your gambling at the casino. Price is about 17 per dish for an average.

This was a classic case of the food outhitting its service coverage, but that isn’t to say that the food was something to race about. To be fair the staff was friendly, but very slow. They seemed to be knowledgeable about the menu, but their anecdotes about their regulars coming from other places was not nearly as charming as they think. The wine list is nice. The menu is a bit small but covers a nice range of meals. I had the short rib post roast. It was served with a choice of potato and vegetables. I chose mashed potatoes, which lacked flavor but seemed to be a nice compliment to the sauce that was served on the plate. The meal also came with dinner rolls and butter. beware the butter is not what you think, it’s honey butter with a cinnamon compliment, which can be a bit strange if your not ready. The prices are what should be expected at a fine restaurant. The service is dreadfully slow. It took me 15 minutes to get change for a tip. I am not sure I will be back.

Sorry if you’re in a remote location and business is slow… but it’s no excuse to serve wilted rotten lettuce and 2nd rate seafood.

Awesome food! Best food in town by far. Gourmet, simple, healthy selections… Salmon was amazing, bruschetta, chicken florentine salad, ALL great. Easy to access as well, directly inside fr covered parking garage!
