I’m a little late in reviewing this; I had lunch here with my parents on May 18 after they picked me up from the Long Beach airport. I’m not certain where all the other negative reviews are coming from because I really enjoyed my meal. Because it was lunch, I ordered the soup/salad combo. The salad was fine, typical lettuce, tomato, carrots, cucumber, croutons. I kind of like it, especially when I get bleu cheese dressing. Let me tell you about the soup: I had the roasted poblano soup. The server insisted it wasn’t spicy so I tried it. A cream-based soup, it has the wonderful chile flavor we all know from chile relleno… except about a few seconds after tasting there’s a nice warm kick. Delicious! I could have had a second bowl. I have to remember to go on Wednesdays. It was one of THE best soups I’ve had in a long time. The service was good. Our server was handling several stations and so we cut her some slack. She had a tendency to not smile unless we spoke directly to her and then she would smile and her personality shined through. She may have been having a rough day or a long shift. I’m not faulting her, I get it. I just wish she’d started out with that shining personality and smile. My mom had the exact same thing I did with Italian on the salad. Dad had some sort of club/turkey sandwich that he enjoyed. So overall it was an enjoyable lunch. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Carrows to me is Denny’s ugly cousin. The food is just a little worse, though not terrible. Just very plain. It’s irritating to me how a chain can’t even make a decent burger. Just add some seasoning to the patty before cooking it, grill it, melt some cheese on it and toss a few toppings and condiments on it. It’s not that hard. Yet they manage to find a way to serve up some of the blandest food ever. If you have high blood pressure and need to watch your sodium intake this place is perfect for you, because everything is super bland! You are safe here! Pros: + High blood pressure friendly dishes Cons: — Super bland food — Burgers

Ughhhhh… ordered the prime-rib dip sandwich yesterday 05/08/16…ate half there and brought the other half home. I just went to heat it up and discovered the bottom part of the bun is covered in MOLD! Disgusting! And to the so called«manager» taking drink orderes: PAYATTENTION! Twice I told you my order, you even repeated it and you STILL got it wrong! How hard is it to understand iced tea with extra lemon? AVOIDTHISPLACEFORTHEMOLDYBREAD… CHECKYOURFOODPEOPLE!

I don’t remember if I’ve ever been to a Carrows. This location is a very nice restaurant. The food was ok. I had the corned beef hash and it was worth a try. A friend had a hair in her meal, but was able to get a fresh plate of food with no problems.

Multigrain pancakes are terrific, but these guys can’t seem to get eggs right. Asked for eggs over medium. Received watery undercooked eggs. Sent it back. Received another plate of watery undercooked eggs. So rather than send it back again, finished the pancakes and left. I received a phone call from the manager apologizing and telling me that he will take care of us when we come back. Great response. Adjusted the stars to reflect the investment in the customer!

Only reason this review isn’t five-stars is because of how my service was back when I was younger. Not sure if service is better for older people or the employee’s have gotten nicer or what but when I was young my food would be bad, I’ve had a friend’s food spat in, but NOW. Service is really amazing. As of now, this Carrow’s is one of the best breakfast places and their mini potatoes are to die for. They grill them with onion and the food is really satisfying/fulfilling.(:

I enjoy any Carrows and this one was almost as good. Our waiter, Chad, was VERY nice and gave quick service. I ordered the Santa Barbara Burger and it was good, but the patty was burnt(!); luckily the other things in the burger masked the flavor.(I am SUPER picky about burnt things.) Another thing was that the tables and booths were pretty small. 3.5 out of 5 stars. My dad gave it 3 out of 5 stars. He had the Petite New York Steak and Shrimp Scampi Pasta. He said that it did not taste like real stake and it was cold. Luckily Chad kindly reheated it and dinner could continue. Also the menus changed to much. My mom gave it 4 out of 5 stars. She had the 8 oz. cut prime rib. She thought it was delicious and satisfying. She also appreciated the service. With my math skillz we averaged it to 3.5 out of 5 stars, basically 4 out of 5(someone please add half stars to Unilocal).

We were seated immediately. However, after being seated, we waited ten-fifteen minutes for a waitress to come over. We ordered our drinks(one coffee and two waters) and our food. The waitress brought us our water, but no coffee. Then it took about another fifteen-twenty minutes for us to get our food. Food was ok. Service was ok, but slow.

Ah, Carrows… I visit this restaurant about once a year on thanksgiving day. It’s a tradition that my best friend and I have been doing for the past 14 or so years. Normally when we visit we have the whole menu to choose from but this year they limited our options. I normally get an omelette dish(as I have trouble making them at home) and I like the multiple options they provide. Well… Sad to say that there were only two options and neither sounded appetizing. I ended up with the normal«Power breakfast« It came with two greasy over easy eggs, two strips of bacon that were not strips, but more like a curled mess and half a crunchy waffle. Sad to say, I now know why I only come here once a year. If not for tradition, I can see me never coming to this place. What a shame too, bc back in the day this place had great food and great service.

Wednesday, November 18, 2015 19011 Bloomfield Ave. Cerritos, CA90703 (562) 865‑1316 REGARDING: Kudos Arlene — Waitress — This Date 7:30 a.m. Dear Carrows: It’s been awhile yet not only did your waitress remember my friend Ayda and me, but even what we liked to order!!! Service was over the top professionalism — 10++++++. Breakfast was delicious. As we were living I noticed almost filled. She and one other behind cashier were the only ones there! I was a server once; know how hard the job is. In my prime, I don’t think I could have ever handled it so well. Now, a septuagenarian, I love good restaurants and great service. Today, I had both. Please share with her, place in personnel file. Thank you. God Bless. Happy Holy/Holidays to one/all. Respectfully, MJG Posted on Unilocal; copies to Notables

My friend and I had a delicious lunch at Carrows today. The prices for seniors 55 and above are very reasonable. The cup of soup and half a sandwich was very filling. I plan to return here more often.

Horrible service I ended up with a bad steak that tasted of rotten meat and smelled horrible. Not only did the cook not catch that before serving it but when it got to our table after taking a bite I immediately let them know. They didn’t even comp it off my bill. Disappointed!!!

NEWSFLASH: Greet your customers right away! This place needs a smart & friendly host/hostess! The manager walked right past me, did not acknowledge my presence or attempt to help me. After a few minutes go by, I finally get up and«catch» the manager and ask him if I could be helped? Oh, yeah let me get someone. Finally: service. Great attitude on this server, good service and attentive. My only tip is: lose the iPad. Use a notepad and then figure out how to input order into iPad away from the table. Food was good. I just don’t understand how two scrambled eggs, potatoes and side of toast come to $ 8.00? Totally not worth the price!

So my Mom had spent the last 30+ years visiting this restaurant on the corner of South and Bloomfield, in yes cerritos. Although I had spent my high school years here in Cerritos, I am proud to say I have never gone to this place until yesterday. I probably won’t be going back any time soon. The food is meh. The server, although, seemed like she knew my mom well, was meh. The manager, meh. All in all it was a very disgusting experience. In fact, I kind of want to throw up just thinking about this restaurant. Blah! Note to self… stop going to corporate crappy restaurants!

Dropped in Sunday evening around 6:15pm to take advantage of Carrows Prime Rib 2 for $ 20 dinner special and low n behold, they ran out of Prime Rib. The restaurant wasn’t full so can’t figure out how they ran out of Prime Rib so early in the evening. Whatever the reason, my father and niece visited Carrows a few months earlier and we met with the same results. One may wonder if the Prime Rib 2 for $ 20 special is just to get you in the front door, like a bait and switch? Hmmmmm? Customer service was ok, food was mediocre, cost was a little pricey for what you get. What a shame!

Being from out of town, I wanted to peep out the breakfast scene on the West-Side. so I found this joint near by and it wasn’t bad. It kinda has a cleaner Denny’s-vibe to it. The service-nice and friendly. The décor-diner style. The food-tasty. The prices-Dope!!! **Note:If you are dating someone who enjoys Denny’s food then you can’t go wrong with peepin’ this place out. So, check it… I ordered the Croissant French toast, which was really creatively good, nice spin on classic french toast. The eggs were OK and the sausage was flavorful and juicy. The coffee was pretty cool was well. Nice Joint!

I’m all about the food. If it tastes good, I’m happy. It doesn’t take much to please me. However, customer service does matter, and sometimes it can have lasting effects. Everything was business as usual at first. Ordered drinks, then placed meal orders. Ten minutes goes by, we are still chatting. 15 minutes goes by — we think nothing of it. Twenty minutes rolls around and we have received nothing. We’ve waited this long before at many different places, so okay, we understand it’s nothing unusual yet. At the thirty minute mark, we finally ask what is going on. The manager says they are extremely busy, and granted, they were. He does not apologize. At this point we are still trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the food will pop out right now, be delicious, and everyone will be happy. My family will still tip at least fifteen percent, and all will be forgiven. I wish that is what happened. Instead, at the forty minute mark, my dad called over the manager. The manager said, in a condescending tone, and I quote verbatim, «what do you want me to do?» This could have been a training video on how not to treat customers. I’ll answer his question right here. All he had to do was say sorry sir, the food will be right out, and even perhaps comp our beverages or some small gesture like that. The situation could’ve been handled differently, and perhaps they would not have lost future business from us. I wish I could tell you how the food was, as I usually do in my reviews, but this time we did not get the chance to eat. It must be really bad if I’m only writing about the service.(Our server did nothing wrong, it was solely the manager’s behavior.) My relatives have lived in Cerritos for 18 years. It’s such a shame because we eat out a lot together. Carrows has lost a lot of future business from us. We have not been back since. I personally will never step foot inside this location again, not even for free food.

We had not been here in quite a welcome and it was nice that some of the waitresses and cashier remembered me by name. We arrived on a Sunday and of course it was packed, long line and many impatient people but we got seated within 15 minutes. My peach pancake breakfast was wonderful. it was the first decent breakfast I had had in days due to unfortunate circumstances. Service was great and it was priced right. I believe my bill was 23 dollars for 3 people which was a bargain. I would like to thank my server for keeping my coffee coming and for treating us well, it meant a lot during a difficult time we were dealing with. Thank you!
