Next-day scheduling was super easy. I walked in and was seeing Dr. Aparna Karnik within ten minutes of my scheduled appointment time. She was as thorough as anyone I’ve seen since I started wearing glasses 18 years ago. She did a normal glasses script and a contact lens fitting. The only test she didn’t do was the duochrome test, but she gave me the same prescription I got last year from Dr. Putterman in Manayunk(can’t recommend that guy enough). They didn’t have my prescription available in contact lenses; however, not only can they order them per normal, but they can also check one of their two other stores for available inventory. Overall I would recommend this place.

It was 6 months before I got my glasses. I would call up and they would say, oh they messed up your lenses and had to redo them. Then when I called up again, they said oh, the lenses are done but they lost the frames. We have to special order the frames. So 6 month go by, they call and say your glasses are ready. I go there and the frames are a different color(Yep they pulled a switch-a-roo on me). They tell me, oh, they don’t make that frame any more and we will ask around to see if anyone has that frame in the color you ordered. So that’s where it ended. I think their motto is: If it don’t make noise it aint broke. As long as I don’t call, they don’t try to fix it. Out of sight out of mind is not a trait of professionals, it’s a trait of slackers. I am too busy to keep hounding folks who will never get it right anyway. Overall I would classify my experience there as theft of my money and time. Oh and I HATE my $ 800 glasses and others have commented that they don’t like them either. I liked my eye Doctor. Other than the Doctor, I pretty much had to go in and cheer everyone up when I got there. Shouldn’t it be the other way around. What a dreadful experience.

I had been going here for about 4 years when I finally decided to leave. The office always seemed in disarray and short staffed. I was happy enough with them until about a year ago. I had gone for my yearly eye exam. The doctor asked if I was ordering contact lenses that day and I told her I was still ok for another 2 months or so. So. She didn’t bother doing the contact lense fitting, which has to be done the same time as my eye exam for my insurance to pay for it. I get the same exams done every year so I didn’t realize she didn’t do the fitting for the contacts. 2 months later when I was ready to order contacts, they told me I never had a fitting. I told them I was just there and I get it every year. When I called the office to inquire, they told me I told the Dr. I didn’t want a contact lense fitting. I told her I didn’t want to order contacts that day, but of course I want the yearly fitting as I wear contacts daily. She became rude and told me the doctor said I declined it. For me to get it done, I would have to pay for it out of pocket. You would think to keep the customer happy, they would have eaten the 50 dollars and performed it for free as I have been a client for a while. Instead they were rude and uninterested even though it was their mistake. I decided to pay the 50 dollars to another business. When I called to collect the records for myself and my family they told me the doctor had to review them and release them. I called a week later and the doctor still had not reviewed them. A year later, no records. They can keep them. I will say there was a wonderful woman(I think her name was Marie) who I really liked and was very friendly. Otherwise their customer service is lacking.

I absolutely love my eye doctors at this place. They are so full of happy kind awesomeness. Dr. Gloria Gogola is my primary eye doc, but I’ve been seen(heh) by the other doc, Dr. Tom Piorkowski. They both rock. They’ll answer your doofy questions, they’ll tell you what they’re doing, they’ll even get a little geeky with you if you want to talk about their gadgets. I never leave there without some kind of freebie, whether it’s a free pair of lenses, a case, some solution, whatever. They also have a nice selection of glasses there, from high-end designer frames to less spendy ones. They take most insurance which is also sweeeeet. Their front office staff is a little scattered at times, but have faith: they won’t mess anything up(though you might not believe it at the time).(Scattered front office = minus 1 star.) They have offices in Springfield, Prospect Park and this here one in Chadds Ford.
