Wish I could give negative stars… Went back to the gun counter, took a number even though there was only one other customer in the gun department. Found the item I wanted to look at and waited… and waited… and waited… and waited for someone to help me out. There was a guy at the far end standing by the cash register. He looked at me, I looked at him, he wouldn’t budge. There were two guys talking to the only other customer at the counter but neither of them would break away to help me. I waited 30+ minutes at the counter and couldn’t get any service even though all three clerks in the gun department saw me. WORSTSERVICEEVER! Fortunately a new Field & Stream store just opened up in Champaign. I’m heading directly there and will NEVER shop at Gander Mountain again!!! Unbelievable how horrible the customer service is at Gander Mountain…

One star only because I have to put something. The absolute worst customer service at the firearms counter, that is if you are a female. If by chance someone does acknowledge you(and not just stand around giving you dirt looks) you are spoken to like you are ignorant. Bet your ass his girl will NOT spend any of her hard earned money here.

They have a very extensive selection of guns and ammo along with shooting supplies. I like their targets. My biggest complaint is they are insanely expensive. In addition to inflated prices, you also have to pay IL sales tax. I recommend going through a reputable online gun dealer like Bud’s Gun Shop. Ammunition was abundant but unless they were running a sale, it too was very, very expensive. I don’t think I will be purchasing too many things from this store.

Went here for the first time since it opened to purchase a new rifle. Their customer service in the firearms department was horrific. No one on the floor was interested in visiting with me about what I was looking for, what they had in stock, etc. I had to approach them first and once my question was answered they walked away without offering any further assistance. It’s worth the extra drive to Scheels in Springfield, IL or Presley’s in Bartonville, IL to purchase a new firearm. Don’t waste your time here.
