I have been shopping at Ulta for many years and have never had any issues. Everyone is always very knowledgeable and helpful! Today I tried out the salon services and got a haircut and style by Ashley. She was fantastic! She was very personable and listened to my thoughts on the haircut before starting anything. She was very easy to talk with and her work is great! I am very satisfied with my haircut and will be going back again.

This was an amazing Ulta. After having a terrible experience at Sephora in Champaign, Ulta helped me find what Sephora didn’t. They were super nice, and the customer service was amazing. Numerous people came up to help me(which did not happen ATALL at Sephora!!!) amazing store. I will go again!

I have been shopping in Ulta several times. Most of the time it is under staffed. I’ve only ran into one rude employee who was actually a manager. Other than that bad experience, it is a great store. Very clean and mostly organized. Working retail in the past, it’s hard to keep a store that big very organized, especially if they are under staffed.

This review is about the Salon at Ulta. I wish someone had written more reviews about this place which I could’ve read and avoided this place all together. I went there after booking my appointment online with ‘Abbie’. As soon as I entered the place I was greeted very nicely by a man whom I told I had an appt and he directed me to the back of the store to the Salon. I went upto the Salon counter said that I had an appointment with Abbie. Without any form of acknowledgement(not even a hello) let alone introduction, she told me ‘go to my station’ Umm do I know you personally? What do I know your station is? I gave her a blank look and had to ask her is she’s Abbie since there had been no introduction, she said yes. The look on her face showed that she either hated her job or hated me. I guess she was just having a bad day since she continued to complain during my haircut to another employee, Shanniqa, about how she ‘just feels under appreciated’. She asked me the sort of haircut I wanted and barely paid attn to what I said. During the hairwash she almost scolded me when I tilted my head. Came back to the station, when I was seated she turned my face away from the mirror. I don’t know how hair dressers work but that has never happened to me before. While I was still thinking about if she was doing this to adjust the seat… *SNIPP* SHEMADETHEFIRSTCUTWITHOUTEVENBOTHERINGTOASKIFTHELENGTHWASOKAYY!!! As a result I’ve ended up with the shortest hair since I was 5. During the middle of the cut and her complaining to Shanniqa about her life… I looked up to find that Miss. Abbie had walked over to the counter to help another customer select a hair color. Not even an ‘excuse me’ to me. This happened two more times. After my first wash at home I realized that my hair wasn’t even cut evenly. THEREWERETWOSTRANDSONBOTHSIDES which were the same length as before. She didn’t even bother checking that she was cutting all the hair and because she styled them to hide it I realized it later. If she had done a good job with the hair, her rude personality could still have been excused. I wish I could give zero stars since even one star is like being generous. Please avoid this place and if you absolutely have to go to ulta, pick anyone apart from Abbie cause god forbid if she’s having a bad day, you’ll end up having bad months thanks to the horrible haircut you’ll be stuck with.

I ran into Ulta today to pick up one item. The store is huge and super clean! I was greatest at the door by 2 of the friendliest people. The gentleman showed me where to find my product and then helped me find other items that I was wondering if they had. I then met another worker who helped me with some general questions about other products. Very knowledgable staff and SUPER friendly! Much nicer than the competitors in town! I have found my new beauty store!!!

Review of the salon: amazing. So personable and talented. I’ve had Jennifer cut/style my hair in the past, and she was great. I’ve recently switched to Karen(due to my schedule) who is fantastic and is so great at creating just the right cut/style. My hair looks better than it ever has and I couldn’t be happier. I’m a repeat customer for sure.

I love Ulta for their wide selection of products and their coupons(though I can hardly even use them) but it seems as if their staff, at least in the cosmetics area, is not very educated. I always end up at Sephora when looking for suggestions as their staff seem to know their products far better. I went in looking for a nude lip product and asked one of the girls what she could recommend. She informed me that she specialized in Bare Minerals so she’d recommend their products. When I informed her that I was allergic and therefor couldn’t use BM, she was out of ideas. I ended up at Sephora and found the perfect product. During my most recent visit, the cashier couldn’t find my rewards account then told me she did and attached it to my receipt when she hadn’t. My mom and I went back inside and spent nearly half an hour before two of them managed to get it worked out. When I got home, we realized they had charged us twice for one product and we hadn’t gotten the triple points we were supposed to get. Instead of going back to deal with them again, I just called the customer service hotline. Overall, the store is clean and has a ton of products. The coupons don’t hurt, but the staff needs some SERIOUS education/training.

This is more a review of service, not on the store itself. I like Ulta, as a company, however on the day I visited this location I practically had to beg someone to help me. If someone is willing to pay $ 40 for foundation, I don’t think you should have to find someone to help you. The male associate who helped me never looked me in the eye, as he was color matching me he was surveying the store and talking with other associates, he didn’t listen to what I was looking for, and in the end suggested a purchase that did not match what I needed. He came across as arrogant and made me feel like I was wasting his time. When I asked about less expensive options he said I could, «look on that side of the store,» but that he only knew about the«premium lines.» I will avoid working with this person in the future.

This review is based on my experience at the salon, although I enjoy the store as well. I was at Ulta purchasing travel-sized stuff for an upcoming trip and received a 20% off coupon for a salon service. Being in desperate need for a haircut and conditioning treatment, I tried them out. First of all, everyone there is very friendly and helpful and it’s never crowded there. Austin cut my hair and she did an AMAZING job! I have really thick hair, it’s naturally wavy and therefore naturally frizzy. She gave me really intricate and face-framing layers to help give texture and movement to my hair; it’s also much more comfortable! I also had a conditioning treatment done for frizz; I probably could have done without that, but the haircut was phenomenal. They also have a huge selection of hair care items and Austin suggested some great products for taming my mane. Not only do you get a great haircut when you go there, but you get to use your salon treatments toward earning rewards points if you’re a member. It’s a win-win and I highly recommend going there.
