Tried to go for lunch on a weekday, we were seated brought water and waited for the waitress to come back. Ended up waiting for 30 minutes, server never came back to our table so we left. Pretty disappointing, there were two other tables next to us who had also waited and decided to leave.

I could write a whole page of reasons not to come here anymore. Terrible customer service, sushi tasted terrible. Beware.

I read through the previous reviews and was a little apprehensive about coming here. Since it is a holiday weekend we were a little worried about long wait times for our group of 9 at other hibachi restaurants, so we decided to try it. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken promptly. Everyone received their correct drinks. We ordered our food, a few sushi rolls, and crab rangoons. Before we received our appetizers we were served our soup. Halfway through our soup the appetizers came. The dragon roll and spicy salmon roll were delicious. Our main courses came out. The hibachi filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The veggies were tender. The fried rice was very tasty. Others in the group all enjoyed their entrees. The udon noodles, sesame chicken bento box and the house fried rice. Our server was great. He refilled all our drinks when necessary. He asked permission before he cleared the plates. We will definitely will be back.

Coming here, I was told I had to try this sushi bar. The sushi itself was freah, and prepared to order. The sauces were quite disgusting. I love sushi sauce, and this was one of the worst sets of sauces I have tried. The younger gentleman who took my order and cash, was Not in a good mood. Seemed very upset with me being there(6:30 on a Friday). The restaurant was empty, now I can see why. Very expensive rolls. I wont be back

Although I am giving only 2 stars, I will be back, probably many more times, because I love sushi and there are few other options in the area. The rolls are overpriced. Many sushi places do seem overpriced to me, but this place much more so compared to the portions of actual fish they give you. The wait staff is not rude per se, but they just don’t seem like they care at all or want to be there. For me, it is close by, and beats driving to downtown or Maple Grove, but I would never drive out of my way to go here.

I have been there twice. It is always empty. The server was rude. He didn’t smile. He looked irritated. I know he can smile because he was socializing with workers. The food came out warm not hot. Not impressed and never again.

We actually walked out of this place today. I’d love to tell you about the food but we never got past the tea! The server and host(the same dude) was so rude, we decided to cut our losses and leave after the tea arrived. I don’t know what his problem was because we arrived in a good mood, we were super hungry, and we were looking forward to trying them out. We’ve finally come to realize that we should cut our losses and leave as soon as things start to go south. And that’s what we did. When I went to the counter and asked how much he needed for the tea(once he realized we were leaving), he was extra rude! The only reason I’m leaving two stars instead of one star because we never actually got to try the food. It might actually be okay. This is NOT the way to run a thriving business. We won’t be back. –Daddy Maxx Retro

When it comes to Asian food Korean is my favorite and good Japanese food, excluding sushi. would be a close 2nd. The problem is finding good Japanese food. Or at least what I consider good Japanese food. When eating Japanese I will, without fail, order tempura or teriyaki if it is available. I prefer to have both if I can get that. That is exactly what I had on my one visit to Ginza. The tempura was good and very close to what I expected. The teriyaki steak had a good flavor, but the teriyaki sauce was more like a thick Chinese sauce or gravy than any teriyaki sauce I had ever had before. It was disappointing.

My son and I ate at this restaurant this evening. It was a rather disappointing experience all around. My son had the Teriyaki Chicken bento box, and I had the Chicken Katsu bento box. The miso was only warm and not even close to hot. Very disappointing, as I always look forward to hot steaming miso! Each bento box cam with a very small portion of rice that was barely warm as well. The steamed vegetables were rubbery and tasted as if they had been frozen, not fresh. There was cream cheese wontons and an egg roll in the box??? That is Chinese not Japanese. The Teriyaki Chicken was nothing more than steamed or baked chicken breast(not grilled as it usually is) with an extremely weak tasting(possibly diluted with water) teriyaki sauce poured over the top after cooking. The Chicken Katsu was actually good but a very small portion. Much smaller than any I have ever had, and was more money. Sadly enough, even the soda was bad. Their machine apparently was not calibrated properly(my guess at least), as the soda was bitter due to an improper mix of syrup/soda and there was not enough carbonation, causing to taste a bit flat. All this and they charged $ 2 per soda. To top it all off, the service was not good for the most part. While it WAS prompt(which makes me wonder how everything was NOT hot ??) the waiter was NOT friendly, and although I thanked him each time he would bring food or a drink refill when requested, he would ignore me. It seemed that he really did not want to be there, and was only half nice at the end when it was tip time. I paid nearly $ 34.00 with tip(I’m unsure why I even left one) and felt that it was WAY to much for what was given. I really wanted to like this place, as it was close to me, however I definitely would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not be back. There are far to many very good Japanese restaurants in the metro area to come back here.

I just moved to Champlin recently and was excited to try this place but was disappointed. I took my sister here and while service was ok, the food… has work to do. I ordered steak yakisoba. What I got was basic Chinese lo mein noodles with too much grease and some steak bits. Anyone who has had traditional Japanese yakisoba knows the sauce is supposed to be sweet and brown. The noodles should be much thinner as well. This was literally just lo mein noodles with no special sauce. My sister ordered the chicken katsu bento box. While the chicken was made appropriately(albeit an incredibly small size), and they used the right sauce for the chicken, the rest was a mess. In the bento box were egg rolls and cream cheese wontons(neither of which are part of Japanese cuisine but whatever). Normally with any type of wonton or egg roll, restaurants will(and should) separate the roll/wonton from the sauce it comes with. For some unknown reason, the sauce was poured OVER the spring rolls and was presented that way. The wontons didn’t come with any sauce at all either. The one thing both of us enjoyed was the green tea fried ice cream, although the ice cream itself tasted slightly off and lacking in green tea flavor. Overall, not impressed. I’d like to try again maybe but order something completely different.

I work nearby so I frequent the restaurant often during breaks or after I’m off. I’ve always been satisfied with both my meal and service since the opening but in recent weeks, with the new waitresses, I’ve had many instances where my order is wrong or the service is incredibly slow even when the restaurant isn’t busy. I’m hoping this will change as the owner is always so friendly and knows my lunch order by heart. I highly recommend the«old man by the sea roll» if you are a lobster lover. And the hibachi is almost as good as Benihana’s without the high price tag!

Food | 3 stars for the food. Sushi is comparable to Osaka. I had the rainbow, salmon and tuna avocado roll. The mackerel sushi was not good; didn’t taste fresh. Seaweed salad was delicious! Service | 1 star for the customer service. It wouldn’t kill the waiter to smile a bit. He was short and impatient. Overall, I would go back for the food only because it’s nearby and the sushi rolls were decent for the price.

Wow. I ordered Sushi to go and it was AMAZING. We ordered 5 different rolls, and split them between the four of us and we were stuffed and still had some left over. They were so fresh! I was highly impressed! It was my first time here and I loved it! The prices were good, and the sushi was fantastic!

We had a little bit of everything, calamari, chef special, maki roll, sashimi, and we moved it. We were especially pleased with the Snow Mountain and Champlain rolls. And they have multiple types of sake which is always important for me.

Good Hibachi steak and chicken. As far as the sushi goes… it was good, just good. A few selections tasted a bit bland to me lacking flavor but over all they were good. Would have been 3 stars but the fried rice and steak made it 4 stars. All in all I would go back and try some of the other rolls. Miso soup was really good, and the onion soup was just ok. Décor was great and so was the service.

Great food, good service highly recommended. Sushi in Champlain just what they need. The sushi chef is from New York so not your pedestrian sushi very well done.
