From my last review, I stated I should’ve gotten the phở. This time I did. It was everything I expected. Plus the price was just right as well for the large. Also came with a complementary hot tea. Ordered the phở combo 1 which is the meat combo along with strawberry bubble tea. I drank both teas(one hot, one fruity and cold) and devoured the beef noodle soup that we call«phở». Put a nice smile on my face. Lesson learned: if you go to a place with the word«phở» in the title of the restaurant, order the phở! Phở real!

Their phở is good in my book. Everyone likes their phở a little different. I like mine without adding sauce in. They put cilantro in their phở which I love and not all phở places add them by default. DONOT try their chirashi bowl. I saw some from another customer once and it looked good then. The one I ordered the next day was not. You can tell the fish is still cold and near frozen from the freezer. It’s also not«assortment of fish like they say». There were only salmon, some mixed veg, and hot sauce. It was kind of expected since it’s only $ 10.00. I would still try the other Japanese food next time. Their mango smoothie tasted artificial.

Don’t get the sushi!!! I was looking for Rainbow sushi and couldn’t find it and when I asked Phở 888 in the Japanese food side if they had sushi, the lady showed me a handwritten menu of 5 different rolls. The rolls are $ 9.95! They told us that the rolls were large and very good. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and I got canned tuna with a spicy sauce. The rice didn’t have any flavor and it was wet! It felt like a rip off. They have no idea on how to make sushi! The sushi mix rice(Hwe duh bap) was ok. Not enough sushi or vegetables. I like it with avocado and some fish roe and it didn’t have any of that.

Buyer beware! I thought the menu for this place looked good and the prices were reasonable. Before ordering, I went to the women’s restroom to the right of this food stall. It smelled terrible but no one was sure where the smell was coming from. I actually couldn’t bring myself to use the restroom. Then I ordered Lemongrass Chicken and rice from Phở 888 to go. On the car ride home, I was like«Oh my! This smells terrible… it smells like the bathroom!» It was coming from the food and actually was making me nauseous. I drove home as fast as I could and threw it away immediately without eating it. It is a shame because I really wanted to like this place and the service was very nice although the cashier didn’t really speak English(she was very polite in her mannerisms though). Next time I will stick with the Korean or Indian food where it seems so many other Lotte-Goers eat.

O.M.G! Best phở I have had in a looooong time. A little bit of a strange location, inside a grocery store, but it is amazing! The broth is fantastic! I’d recommend this place to everyone!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I actually threw away the food after having a few bites and bought another lunch somewhere else. To be fair: I did not order Phở. I ordered the grilled pork with rice. A fairly safe dish at any Vietnamese joint. Not here. The meat was thin and full of grizzle. It was *not* grilled, but rather, it was fried. Ugh. The meat tasted terrible. Inedible garbage. The lady behind the counter had no English, but that didn’t stop the order, nor influence the rating. Just be prepared for that. I’ve always said that I don’t eat at places that cook more than one ethnicity, and this Japanese/Vietnamese place has re-proven that.

I love phở and tried phở at various restaurants. By far, this was the worst phở I have tasted.

After an exceptionally crappy week topped off with an incredibly crappy 14 hour Friday, I decided to drown my feelings in sushi and Phở. Phở 888 is in my local international grocery store. I am in here at least twice a week. And for the life of me I cannot figure out why I never looked up and realized that there was a Phở joint IN the restaurant lol!!! After just wanting to be home and out of the world, I decided to give them a shot. It saved me from having to travel two miles in the opposite direction from my house. Plus, it would be great if they turned out awesome and I had a phở joint in my grocery store… talk about multitasking :) After literally having phở in at least 50 different places in my travels(You’d like to think I was exaggerating but I am not), I know a good broth when I taste it… better yet, when I smell it. Their broth was mediocre at best. I have definitely had and can make better. However, I figured with a little plum sauce and sri it would be OK. Unfortunately, it was so incredibly salty to begin with that I had to add water and let it simmer on the stove in order to decrease the sodium concentration. As another reviewer mentioned, they literally add all types of veggies you wouldn’t expect to see in Phở; broccoli, zucchini, carrots, mushrooms, etc. I removed all but the mushrooms to see how they would taste and they weren’t too bad honestly. I would definitely consider adding them again. The cashier seemed to be very shy or unsure of her English. Someone else came out from the back and took my order instead and after that, she was fine. She packed everything very carefully and my package made it home safely. They definitely have a decreased menu. But that is perfectly understandable being as they are in a grocery store. I would only serve the most popular options too. I will update my review once we try them again.

I stopped by in the middle of my 4.5 hour oil change and emissions inspection at nearby Pohanka( ). I read the most recent review yet decided to give it a chance since I had time to kill. Upon finishing my Phở I definitely can vouch for Chutima’s review. The broth was pretty weak and bland. Hardly any flavor at all. Fortunately, the meat and noodles were fine. The serving size was in an average bowl and not humongous like Phở Aura. I had no issues ordering from the lady as I just mentioned«combination special phở». I believe she’s Korean and not Vietnamese as she said thank you to me in Korean. If future customers are having difficulty ordering perhaps say«Choo-sayo(and follow with the name of your phở or dish)».

We stopped by Lotte Plaza for some Asian grocery and decided to have some Phở here. This café as noted by others is inside of the grocery store — off to one side. The menu is quite simple and limited — phở in a few combinations — which is fine by me since all I wanted was Phở. I ordered a large and it was LARGE! I had enough for the next day :) As noted by Neal E, the woman behind the counter has very limited English vocabulary and most ordering is something like Number 2 large! The soup was flavorful and meat was cooked well too. They do have condiments on the side — like soy sauce, chili, hoisin sauce. This is definitely not the best Phở I have had in DMV area but I will be back here for more Phở!

Phở 888 is located inside of Lotte Plaza. It’s part of their Asian food court. It’s one of several different cuisine’s available. Phở 888 does not offer nearly as much choice as a typical Phở joint. Of course I wanted Phở Ga. The lady working the counter did not appear to understand English. She pointed at another guy who came walking over. He took my order. You pay up front. They don’t offer white meat with their Phở Ga — which is my favorite. So I decided I’d try their Phở Ga with dark meat. According to him — they used to offer white meat — but no one requested it — and they ended up wasting a lot of chicken meat. Every previous time I’ve tried Phở Ga with dark meat, it’s come with pieces of soft, fatty, skin and ligaments galore — which I don’t want in my Phở Ga — I find the texture unpleasant. I asked about this — he replied that was not part of their Phở Ga. So I went with a small bowl. It came up in a few minutes. They set your Phở and plate of aromatics/veggies on a tray and you retrieve it from the counter. There are small styrofoam cups on the counter and a container of water to serve yourself some water if you want a drink with your food. The broth had a nice flavor to it — light, but good. Not as rich and robust as I would prefer, but not bad. They also add Broccoli, Carrots, and Mushrooms to their Phở Ga broth — which I actually enjoyed. Most Phở places don’t put these veggies in their Phở broth. The Phở was served steaming hot, and for the most part, the noodles were not clumped up. The dark chicken meat was not bad. I still prefer the white meat though. As usual, I added all of the veggies/aromatics to the bowl: Bean Sprouts, Lime, Jalapeños, and Basil, plus squirts of Sriracha onto individual bites and at the end — a generous couple of squirts into the broth before guzzling it all down. Overall, I felt like it was a healthy bowl of Phở Ga, with some interesting differences compared to other Phở Ga. Phở 888 probably won’t make it into my regular Phở rotation since they don’t offer white meat. But I still enjoyed it!

I completely agree with the one other review(why aren’t there more!?). The phở is amazing. I ordered mine with the eye of round and a mango bubble tea and the entire meal was incredible. At first I was a little turned off by the price(almost $ 11) for the two items, but the serving was enormous! I had it for lunch in Lotte, took my left-overs to go and had the rest for dinner and was completely stuffed for both meals. The phở is really just beyond words, though. Had the portion been smaller I still wouldn’t have minded the price considering the quality. It is unfortunate this place is in a grocery store because it will probably never be recognized adequately for its quality. Oh well, more for me!
