I am SO reminded YET again of the primary reason I never have and never will patronize this place again ; … at least one of the owners /operators thinks that every single student at unc-ch should carry a gun. And, he thinks«all of the shooters are liberal Democrats». …He happened to ruin my b’fast one fine day with his loud diatribe on the need for«carrying» and his chastising of «liberals»…it was similar to a Trump rally… just without the Donald… so I choked. left my grub… hurried to pay… and left for the last time ever… This non-staged, real event occurred immediately during the period of the assassinations of the 3 muslim students right here in Chapel Hill… This man, an «Owner»… is a staunch NRA man…10000%% . .YOUR money, YOURMONEY spent here… will finds its’ way to the NRA . Now, we have ORLANDO . The food ? . Undistinguished basics, but not bad; burgers and breakfast(though forget the watery grits – not real southern grits). Also,… do Not expect«fresh» vegetables at all,… because there are None to be found here — Canned. anyone …(surprising as it is, in this town). And, when a joint’s most famous items… are parking and home fries,… well you should know what to expect. Much, much better Everything at ELMOs,.and you can easily park too.(Suttons has better grits, if that is your thing)…(Even Breakfast is better at our Ye Olde Waffle and at the local«Waffle House» chain joint, uptown on Franklin, beside The Varsity… than it is here) Can’t speak for the ladies room, but the men’s ?.. yikes. Well, you get the point !.. I will add this, I also am not sure how the place passes building /restaurant code with all its’ capacity… and just 1 «stall» ?.. perhaps town code takes a back-seat because police officers often eat here…(Our police force is great, but perhaps the building code folks don’t want to disturb) Nope, not even the presence of our local police force can get me back in there — Not even 1 more cent… of my money… goes to a local NRA hq,… NEVER . Otherwise, I’d put a 2, and maybe a 3, for what the place is :. …= breakfast and burgers, home fries and… that good parking. . . …You have been advised… . .

Now this is a Chapel Hill staple! This place has breakfast all day, yum! My wife had an omelette and I had the biscuits and gravy w 2 eggs. Now that was fantastic sausage gravy! Of course I had to satisfy my sweet tooth and ordered a side pancake. The pancake was surprisingly sweet and dense it was great and my wife enjoyed it too! Definitely will be back!

Good hangover food but the service/management is a piece of shit.

Homey spot in Chapel Hill. Food is best enjoyed while hungover. I prefer their breakfast to lunch and dinner. Nothing is really standout but they have some good omelets. Cheap prices and friendly service.

LOVE going here. Breadmen’s has the best food at the best prices. Whenever my mom and I in Chapel Hill we always go eat at Breadmen’s. The waiters/servers are always polite and friendly. Always the best service.

The wife is kind of a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy, she was not impressed. Everything else was good though. Fourth star for the UNC atmosphere.

Breadmen’s is a very home-y restaurant. They serve mostly breakfast, but also have lunch and dinner options. I am not a huge fan of breakfast to begin with so I only look at the non-breakfast options. In the past, I used to always get the fried chicken plate with 2 sides, but the chicken has always been a little dry. Now, all I get is the veggie plate. This doesn’t sound that exciting but you have the option of choosing 4 side dishes! I love their casseroles so much, especially the broccoli casserole. This plate also comes with their delicious corn bread and soft butter. Some of the sides include: Casseroles, home fries, banana pudding, cole slaw, mash potatoes, salad, potato salad, pasta salad, green beans, fried okra, broccoli, and a lot more!

Starting back to the 70’s when I wanted a great breakfast it was and still is Breadman’s, with well prepared, hot and southern style food. Really enjoy the Tarheel atmosphere and seeing familiar faces. It’s goin to be missed by me when it’s a high rise. Thank you for so many great meals.

Try the yummy crispy onion rings, Southern cornbread(not greasy!), and iced tea. Avoid the chili and weak coffee. The food gets 3 stars. The location, the wait staff, and the ambiance all rate higher, but you’re here for the food, right? If you enjoy comfort food, sitting in a booth with friends, relaxed unhurried service, and interesting Tarheel posters on the wall, check it out. Most likely the complaints on here are written by yuppies and food snobs unappreciative of Breadman’s laid back atmosphere and plain, large menu. Near UNC so it has an attractive young wait staff easy-going, and unobtrusive. It’s a favorite of local sports guys and professors as well as staff get-togethers. Sunny windows and a tall ceiling. Plenty of easy parking. It’s scheduled to close for new development in the future, but hopefully moving to a new location. In the meantime, it’s certain to remain a busy spot for local friends, family and colleagues.

The food was just borderline and the service was some of the worst I’ve had in Chapel Hill.

Quick, easy, tasty, relatively cheap. Breakfast all day, solid kids menu, and best cornbread ever!

Really great food. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu. Burgers, breakfast, the works. However, every time I leave there I remember why it has been 6 months since I’ve been there… the service is awful. They’re notorious for hiring college girls, and none of them are very interested in service.

People rave about this restaurant. I don’t think it’s super special, but it’s a pretty decent place for brunch.

Would never have selected this restaurant, but came with a group. Food was average at best, Roy, the owner or manager, treated us rudely. Will never return.

Great local breakfast place with affordable prices. They do serve lunch/dinner foods as well, but I mainly come for the breakfast. Servers are friendly, and food comes out pretty quickly(less than 10 minutes). Lovely UNC themed décor that made me feel right at home :) That being said, the décor may turn off any non-UNC(and dare I say, Duke) fans. In terms of the actual food, I got a broccoli and cheese omelet and substituted the home fries and toast with a fruit cup. The server was very understanding and flexible with the substitution, which is refreshing considering how stubborn some other substitution policies are. My sister had the Belgian waffle with strawberries, which she said was scrumptious! The added fruit is fresh, not a compote, so keep that in mind. The biscuits are nice, especially smothered in jam. I would say that the fruit cup is not worth getting — it had a lot of liquid at the bottom that soaked small pieces of apple, melon, grapes, grapefruit, oranges, and pineapple… Which is not my favorite combination for a fruit cup. Overall, a very decent and filling breakfast that doesn’t kill your wallet.

Breadman’s has good burgers and I think their breakfast food is decent. But it’s a dirty diner and that’s what you need to expect when you go there. If you’re looking for greasy food then Breadman’s is an apt choice. They serve breakfast all day!

Everything here was just okay. My friends and I went for brunch on a Saturday, and we were seated quickly… once the host decided to talk to me. The menu is a bit overwhelming with the huge number of items. I got a Western omelet, and it was okay. I feel like it is hard to really mess up an omelet. The home fries were almost tasteless. I don’t know if it’s a choice by the restaurant to give really bland stuff… we all agreed everything needed to be salted a ton. The price is a bit high, But what do you really expect at places that serve breakfast. I wouldn’t go back again. There are plenty of other places at the same price that taste a lot better.

I’ve been coming to Breadman’s for years, even when they were across the street. It’s nothin’ fancy, but the food is good and consistent. One of the standards that I enjoy is the Brass Key, which is a triple decker sandwich with roast beef, turkey, cheese, and slaw on toasted bread. It really hits the spot. Another thing I like is the choice of veggies. They always have a veggie of the day and the casserole ones are a sure bet. And their cornbread is tasty & huge! I find it hard to make a choice, so many things are so good. Should I get the salad with tahini dressing, the ribs, the roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy, or just have one of the many selections for breakfast no matter what time of the day it is??? It can really be a tough choice. Whatever I get I’m always happy and leave stuffed, even when bringing home leftovers. It’s always nice to pay a visit and even more special when Mr. Bread-man is there! You know when the boss is in the house he’s really keepin’ an eye out!
