I used to like this place but the food has gotten skimpier and skimpier. Beet salad. $ 9.95 for a moderate amount of kale, the equivalent of 1 – 1.5 beets, ½ cup of diced apples and one egg? Avocado sandwich on the green(salad version): three leaves of lettuce, 3 slices of tomato, ¼ avocado for $ 7.75. Delivered outside without silverware. When I asked the server said, «Inside.» And walked away. So much for the $ 5 tip I gave. Grumpy staff but who can blame them with what appears to be manager-driven skimping. WAYOVERPRICED.

My husband and I have both been in the service industry and the first question we told to ask when someone had a complaint is, «What can I do to make you happy?» This is not what happened at Sandwhich. We ordered two sandwiches, some chips and drinks. They put through my husband’s debit card and it came back«declined.» Mine also came back«declined,» so we used a credit card. We knew we had over $ 3000 in our account, so we immediately called our credit union, who said the problem was with the restaurant. They needed to withdraw the authorization and we would still have a hold for $ 60 on our card for 5 business days. We told the manager that they needed to withdraw the authorization. She did not believe that it was the restaurant’s fault, and started lecturing us about«how a debit card works». She ultimately agreed to call her credit card authorization company. After a while she came back and said she was talking to our credit union. She handed her phone to my husband and basically told him to fix it. He was on the phone with them for over 20 minutes(during his lunch – his sandwich was sitting there, uneaten). He finally found out that the cards had indeed gone through – even though the cashier said they were declined– so we were charged three times for the meal. This would seem to be a prime moment for a sincere apology, thanking us for our time and patronage, and comping us our meal, that we ate while talking to the bank to fix their problem. But no. This lady loves to lecture the clientele. She never took responsibility for the problem, although her employee told us the card was declined, which wasn’t true. And then, the kicker, she said«You know whose fault it really is?»(Her cashier? Space aliens?). No, «the credit card industry.» She went on «If I had my druthers, I’d only take cash.» And that is our problem how? No offer to comp the meal and the words«I’m sorry» did leave her mouth, but only in the context of self-justification and ass-covering. We finally told her to stop talking because she was making things worse. No «What can I do to make you happy?». We are not happy. We are hoping that we will be refunded the $ 60 we were overcharged. We will never eat there again. And the sandwiches were dry and skimpy. Definitely not worth the hassle. We did get a new catchphrase, though. When in doubt, blame the«credit card industry»!

This was my first time going to Sandwich and it was exceptional. I ordered the Zalouk sandwich and also got a taste of the pork Tagine and the Moroccan Taco from my eating companion. Great service, food, atmosphere.

Was in town just for the day, did some Unilocal searching and found Sandwhich just in time for lunch. They have a good variety of food with a bit of Middle Eastern spin to a lot of it. quite a few burgers, couple of types of dogs — including a Chicago Dog, hot/cold sandwiches, polenta bowls… A good choice for a group where people are in the mood for different things. I had one of the burgers that had avocado, roasted jalapeño, LTO, and some of their Whichsauce and my wife had an eggplant sandwich. Both were delicious. she had a Moroccan tea and I tried their homemade lemonade. Again, yummy. Lemonade was nice and tart. Oh… and the onion rings were clearly made in-house and were perfecto! Thanks Unilocalers for the good guidance as always!

Very excellent Whichburger… pretty straightforward description: lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar whichsauce. er except I don’t know what’s in whichsauce. However the hamburger pattie was well made and prepared the way I ordered — medium — with lots of flavor and its wrapped in a sweet bun(potentially a potato roll, but I could be indulging in speculation). I wouldn’t have thought ordering a Cheese Burger at a sandwich shop would have been the way to go, but my local friend advised me on what to go with. There are lots of other non burger options here. As I read the menu it made me wish I lived near Franklin street or at least in Chapel Hill to eat here every working day and munch my way through the complete menu.

Ordered the BAM, it is really nice. There are also plenty of choices of sandwiches, either warm or cool, first time to feel that sandwich could be tasty too.

On the fence with this place, and leaning more towards the«meh». Very over priced food for the express counter service and small portions of most items. Found a bit of fat and gristle in a burger which is surprising at their price point not to be using leaner higher quality beef. They also were extremely tight with the purse strings not making any effort for good will when they made some mistakes. I was not too thrilled to perceive a penny pinching management approach, when paying such high prices for questionable value to start with…

The food is pretty decent; however, they should get better sandwhich makers for the restaurant to be literally named«Sandwhich». I got half of the avocado sandwhich today which literally had 1⁄16th of a whole avacado and it coast me over 5 dollars… That in addition to one beer came to a total of almost ELEVEN dollars. Also, one of the servers gave me the stink eye and didn’t comply when I asked if she could take my plate. Maybe I’m just being sensitive because I just started my period, but it seemed cold. I saw Marcus Paige there though.

My Chicago dog take-out was bomb-diggity. Nitrite– and nitrate-free, 100% all beef hot dog with no hormones, no antibiotics, juicy ripe tomatoes, sport peppers, house made sweet relish, yellow mustard and a pickle spear on top, all nestled in a soft toasted bun. Beautifully decorated interior with romantic lighting. Seating both indoors and on the open patio. Rock on, Sandwhich.

Five and a half years later, I rediscovered Sandwhich with my best friend and we simply love this restaurant. Often, when we are finished with teaching our courses at UNC, we take a walk in Chapel Hill and down Cameron or Franklin to find ourselves at Sandwhich. And there we indulge in one of their amazingly fresh and beautifully arranged salads or their polenta tagine with pulled pork. That polenta bowl is pure heaven! So is the polenta bowl with mushrooms and sautéed apples. But nothing beats the tagine polenta bowl right now when it is cold and windy outside. It warms the heart and soul alike. And the tummy! Don’t miss out, people! Luckily, they don’t just do the food well at Sandwhich but the service is also incredible. Friendly people, fast table service after ordering at the bar.

Located on Franklin street with so many other options for lunch, one may forget about Sandwich. However, if you’re looking for something quick and tasty I would stop in to Sandwich and give it a try. The name of the restaurant speaks for itself. The sandwiches here are very, very tasty. They may even sound simple, but they’re very flavorful and delicious. They have anything you could want for lunch: burgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. The sandwiches are definitely the way to go though. The sourdough bread is delicious. Every time I have been they have also been very generous on the meat portions. The sandwiches are piled high and they’re not loaded with too much sauce so they won’t get soggy while you are eating it. My to go to sandwich is the free-range turkey sandwich. It sounds simple with just turkey, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and a special mayo sauce. but, if I tried making this exact sandwich at home it never tastes the same. The mayo sauce is super tasty and the avocado with the turkey is delicious. This is one of those shops however that makes you pay extra if you want any sides. The sandwiches aren’t served with chips or fries, so you’ll have to buy that separate if you want a side with your dish. The prices may be a bit high for sandwiches, but you are certainly paying for a lot of meat and a tasty meal!

Went for the first time today and got the half meatloaf sandwich with fresh mozzarella and a side of double-fried fries. The meatloaf was very thin and a bit overcooked/dried out. The slice definitely could’ve been a bit more generous. I expected the fries to be very crispy since they’re double fried. But they were soft and underseasoned. Very disappointing. I might go back and try a hamburger.

Small, but modern, with a comfortable atmosphere. Additionally, there’s outdoor seating that’s really nice on days with good weather. Service is pretty standard. I can only speak for the burgers, but the food is really delicious. A friend ordered the BLT and thought it was pretty top quality, too. It’s a bit pricey for the portion size: the burger alone was $ 7.50 and fries were an additional $ 2.87 without tax; I didn’t get a drink. Because of the price, I probably won’t be frequenting Sandwhich, but I would definitely come back for the food. Overall, a really great dining experience.

The Whichburger is fantastic, the price is a little bit high for the small burger but it is probably my favorite burger on Franklin St(when it comes out at the right temp). The location is great and they pay attention to detail with their food presentation. Definitely a high quality place. The main issue I have is with the manager/owner’s demeanor, he is a bit on the arrogant side. I asked whether they had sweet potato fries on one of my visits. I was told that they were out and that their regular fries were better anyway. As a customer, I was pretty bothered by this. It came across as if I should have ordered what he likes, rather than what I was in the mood for. Whenever I see him working the register I’m disappointed. I haven’t been there in about a month, just to put this review in context.

Sandwhich’s name is deceiving — based on the name, I thought it would be a standard, nothin’ special, sandwich place — but I was so happily wrong! Their menu is unique, ranging from sandwiches with«harissa mayo,» a sardine sandwich, and a Zaalouk sandwich. As a pescetarian, I tried the Zaalouk(eggplant, over-dried plum tomatoes, peppers, pesto, and goat cheese). Every bite was fantastic. The bf and I also split a side of fries — their fries are on point! I was also eyeing their«antidepressant cookie” — as a therapist, I was amused, as a Unilocaler, I was hungry. Maybe next time, cookie…

Oh yes. I had that delicious meatloaf sandwhich and my friend Jen had the gruyère and mushroom. She had the tomato soup and I had the seasonal butternut squash soup with kale. I had the apricot butter cookie and she had the chocolate chip. We split everything in half and shared. And we also shared a pumpkin milkshake. Everything was hearty and filling and wonderful and heavenly. I think I liked her sandwhich the best and my soup. Please, Sandwhich, come to Raleigh. Chapel Hill is a little too far of a drive. I would eat here like every single day.(So maybe on the other hand, *don’t* come to Raleigh…)

My favorite is the GMCII, a grilled chicken mozzarella pesto panini. I also really like their chips. They’re perfectly crisp and seasoned nicely with the right amount of salt and herbs of some sort. They also make a mean fresh squeezed lemonade. It’s pretty sweet and a little tart. Their salted caramel milkshake is also yummy. Nice selection of beer too.

I stopped here with my husband to grab a quick bite for a late lunch. We both got the grilled gruyère on sourdough with cremini mushrooms. The sandwiches were good, but nothing to write home about. For $ 15 for two sandwiches and two water cups, I expected more. On the plus side, our food came out fast and we were able to park for free.

Gluten free in Tar Heel Country? Sandwhich has you covered! Get that burger on a salad. Their house sauce is spicy and yum. Dollop away! Great lunchtime atmosphere. Easy in and out. Quick service.

Sandwhich is a cool little joint that I had otherwise overlooked due to its proximity to McDonalds. Once inside, that proximity helps juxtapose the quality they’re offering, a step above your fast-food alternative. At Sandwhich you’ll enjoy a comfortable and quiet interior, exceptionally kind service, and a fair variety of meal and drink options from ‘which to choose. See what I did there? Me neither. However if you’re looking for non-meat choices, you best go elsewhere. And for all their meaty burgers, I was disappointed to not see bison or turkey on the hot menu. Presentation was clean and neat, not looking like junk food and not tasting like it, either. I had the standard Whichburger, done medium rare, executed perfectly. However, I was soon swamped in grease after the first bite. It poured down my sweet face, as an affront to my complexion and much to my embarrassment! Where did all that grease come from? I may never know, because while Sandwhich did a-ok in the taste and kindness department, the cost for this affair was beyond reasonable for what should be expected for a joint of this caliber. $ 5 for a minuscule milkshake, when for a comparable price you can get one twice the size and of finer quality at, say, Zinburger? No thanks. And if you want to go meatless, a giant mushroom should by no means cost the same as a beef patty that needed to be fed, protected, given pasture, and then professionally slaughtered. It’s a mushroom! Sandwhich will do in a pinch, no doubt, but not without also pinching your wallet. I’ll be back if I get a raise this year and I have a hankering for a patty.
