I’m an addict. I’ve been to my fair share of Starbucks locations, and I was very impressed with this one! I’m a student, so I am sometimes one of the wifi campers, but I’ve always been welcomed by the baristas as if I were a friend. I see them interact with other regulars as well and they are always friendly. So far, this is the only location in the Durham/Chapel Hill area that has rung up and made my earl grey tea latte correctly, so kudos!

This location is more different from others it is more convent! Plus the very quick service. Even though its smaller and some times packed. But have quality service!

Super convenient location in Eastgate right off the far end of Franklin Street. Pretty good sized outside seating area. Service was quick. They make a mean Latte. Not too crowded. Parking lot a little small and awkward. Free Wifi and plenty of outlets.

This is my most conveniently located Starbucks. Typically they are pretty forgettable, but the staff here are very attentive and have a great sense of humour to tolerate my family and I. I see nothing but smiles and hear kind remarks as my oldest tries to make up her mind on a pastry. Even when it seems most crowded, the line moves pretty quickly and I am in and out fairly fast.

I’ve always come here to do work away from the office. They have enough tables to do that without having to wait for one to open up. My computer us ancient enough that it has to always be plugged in and they have a good amount of outlets so that has never been a problem. Oh and they have fast friendly service which is a plus

Smaller location, but perfect on your way to the University. Has a small outside seating area. The service is great and it’s never too busy. The only down side is that the parking is a little small and there is not a drive-thru.

Two visits, two cashiers and inexplicably they knew my order. Weirdly Awesome. Oh and for the first time that I’ve seen they have outlets at every table! Finally!

so i like starbuck’s, got a gift card once and immediately turned it into a gold membership card. this is a cute store and nice location, the morning manager seems to be the same person since i started going in saturday morning. the bruegger’s right next to them(YUM!) opened 10 minutes before 6 and me and another gentleman faithfully waited till a minute after 6 to get into starbuck’s. i have had some crappy customer service at some starbuck’s in durham, but they have all changed for the better. naturally upon staying out in chapel hill, i assumed customer service would be even better. the staff are friendly, but apparently the middle aged blond manager isn’t a big starbuck’s fan, she seems unwilling to wait on me, i was clearly in line listening to her talk with the other lady employee about having to get product from another location, the blond didn’t move to help me until other people showed up behind me. she wouldn’t even greet me and i always look a person in the eye and smile, no matter what side of the counter i am on. anyway, after i waited for her to acknowledge me, i placed my order and went to pay, my phone, unfortunately died and i ran out to get some money from the car, i didnt bring my wallet and didn’t want to leave the manager hanging, i went in and tried to get her attention, she clearly heard me as the woman further away heard me, glanced at her and spoke quite nicely and genuinely with me. i don’t know what has crawled up this blond manager’s butt but she makes me wish it was a dunkin donuts instead of a starbuck’s across the street from my house.

Always prompt friendly service. I like their coffee and appreciate the app to allow me to use my phone to pay. Very convenient on travel.

This Starbucks has gone downhill in the past year, and not because it has gotten so busy. There used to be a cute young woman in a baseball cap who kept things humming. She was cheerful and efficient at the same time. The last time I saw her was opening hrs. last summer. This a.m. I was in a hurry and happy to see one person at the register and one person in line in front of me. 4 or 5 people were behind the counter and nobody was waiting for a drink. We waited and waited while everyone ogled the baby. Usually someone asks people in line for their order so the barista does not get backed up. No. Today the staff was having too much fun with each other and the woman with the baby. After placing my order I asked the barista about a manager and I was told they do not have one. At the end, when I saw the staffer with my breakfast sandwich walk all around behind the counter, and then stand whispering to the barista before handing it to me, I realized that they like things the way they are. If that is your vibe too, go for it. If you want service, try elsewhere!

Bumping this review up to 4 stars b/c they now offer FREEWIFI. I’m still not a huge fan of them, but I have to give them credit for listening to customers and giving them this service. It’s just such a shame that huge corporations are slow adopters… but nevertheless, if I’m in a rush or just need a quick«corporate» alternative whilst shopping in Eastgate, I’ll stop by here. Prices are a bit high and coffee tastes the same(over-roasted). FWIW, if you happen to buy a bag of their coffee in the grocery stores(you know… sometimes you can’t find your favorite CCC blend at 12am!), there’s a current offer for a free 12 oz cup of their coffee if you return the coffee bag to one of their stores. Don’t know how long this promo is going on for, but I have to give them some props for trying to change their image a bit.[1] But…I still think the coffee offerings elsewhere are far superior IMHO. Still prefer 3 Cups or Caffe Driade just down the road over this fare. But I’ll give you an extra star for helping an iPhone-challenged bloke out like me with free wifi! [1] Still a bit PO’d about bogarting the whole corporate identity thing — i.e., not allowed to take photos in their coffee shops, etc.

This starbucks in particular is fairly good size, and in my experience is not particularly crowded. I like to go and stop in for coffee and read for a while before I do some shopping at the Trader Joes across the parking lot
