I cannot say enough great things about the Barn at Valhalla. We rented the Barn for our November wedding and it was perfect. We did the rehearsal and the reception at the barn, and our guests were blown away by the warm, romantic aesthetic of the barn and the beautiful nature surrounding it. We had friends and relatives stay upstairs and they said their rooms were even nicer than staying in a hotel. The staff thought of every detail(sound, lighting, facilities, cleanliness), and were so awesome to work with. Thank you Valhalla for helping us have our dream wedding!

With a gorgeous natural setting, this is a wonderful space for weddings! The barn and grounds are immaculate and accommodations are incredibly comfortable. The new owner, Dillon, is thoughtful, attentive, and helpful– he’ll go out of his way to ensure a stress-free experience. Highly recommend this venue!

This was a lovely backdrop to a fantastic celebration of love. On August 23rd a dear friend had her wedding here and it was gorgeous, comfortable and surrounded by the beauty of nature. They allowed camping on the grounds, so some folks set up camp around the perimeter for the weekend, us less outdoorsy types stayed in a hotel back in town. The main building was a great place for the reception, plenty of room to mingle, some outdoor seating as well, overlooking the lake on the property. It was all very lovely.

I had a hard time finding contact information for the Barn at Valhalla, then found out the owner died back in November, unfortunately. Shane is the man to speak with(919)360−0882). While they were booked up solid for the time frame I was looking for, Shane went out of his way to immediately return my call and offer up numerous helpful suggestions. Kindness like that is hard to come by! Without a doubt I would refer my friends to this venue for the beauty of the site and the great customer service.

We had our ceremony at the Barn a couple of weekends ago and have nothing but positive things to say about it. The entire property is beautiful so for those what choose a more natural setting over canned reception halls this is the place for you. We were able to pick our caterer and rent what we wanted to have it brought in. There were already substantial sized tables available so this was helpful. We rented our own chairs due to space issues but it all worked out. Duffy, the owner, is fantastic. He allowed us to come out time and again so that we could get a picture in our minds of how things needed to go for us. In addition to the Barn we also rented the upstairs area which is fabulous. We used this to get ready for the ceremony and chill out before all the festivities. We also were able to sleep off the party fun and wake up to a beautiful and peaceful scenery. We received compliments and positive feedback from all of our guests.

Out in the no-man’s land between Carrboro and Saxapahaw sits one of the best spots to hold whatever event you feel like holding. The Barn at Valhalla was first tipped to my wife when we were looking for a place to hold our wedding reception by a friend who had been there for a Buddhist retreat. We were given the contact information from Duffy Gilligan, an avid NPR supporter and all-around fun(if not a little weird) guy. Duffy will let you rent the space for an entire day for dirt cheap. He’s up front that he really makes his money by renting out the tables and chairs for your event(reasonably priced, but if they’re not the shape and size you’re looking for you’re stuck — he might be up front about where his money on this comes from, but that also means he’s not going to let you get your tables and chairs from an outside source without still«renting» what he has). The space is phenomenal. The barn itself is gorgeous, with huge wood beams over even larger doors that allow sunlight to pour into the building when open. The outside deck is also large and has a walkway to a huge outdoor fireplace, when then leads down to a close off little yurt-style hut over the lake. All of it for your use. All of it beautiful. If your party might get a little too rowdy(re: alcohol consumption) or late into the evening, there’s also an upstairs area available for rent(this one is extra, but not much) with some beds available to sleep it off. I can’t say enough about how accommodating(he let us sneak in early the night before the wedding to get the decorating out of the way) and helpful(he recommended a few caterers and even talked to the guy we chose who wasn’t on his list about how to get out there) Duffy is about everything. I kind of want an excuse to throw another party there.
