I rarely leave their shop without something! Great used kid items and their prices are spot on. I am always satisfied with the offers made on my used items, as well. The turnaround time on their offers can get a little slow at the end of a season but that is to be expected.

Maybe I went on an «off» day, but my experience was not nearly as glowing as the other reviewers. I was on a cloth diaper mission this afternoon with my 6month old son. We arrived at the store and was not greeted upon entry. I could forgive this, but no one spoke to us at all during our 20 minute visit. There were two women working at the cash register area, and I felt completely ignored. If they had spent the time to speak to me, I would probably have bought some diapers or even a new carrier(I love my Ergo but I’ve had my eye on a Beco as well and I saw they had a used one at a decent price.) I’ll probably go back another day and hopefully will receive better service, but this first impression really left a lot to be desired.

Teacher: [takes attendance] Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Simone: Um, he’s sick. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious. Teacher: Thank you, Simone. And so goes this update… esp. if you’ve been wondering where The Red Hen has been hiding for the last month… well, it’s not at it’s old location in that house on Weaver St. anymore. It’s now officially a part of UMall. Don’t worry… it’s still got the same great deals on new and lightly used baby gear, toys, clothes, cloth diapers, and support for new mothers and spouses. Breastfeeding Café is still on Mondays… but now they’ve got SPACE and so do you as a shopper! Plenty of it. It’s located right across from The Print Shop and is surprisingly close to the Chapel Hill Public Library’s new temporary location in the mall. There’s even a big play area for the kids in the back. And the same friendly service and attention to details is still there so you can save $$‘s with big smile. I also love the fact that as a TRH shopper, you now have access to the rest of this mall including all the entertainment hours for kids and families. Sounds like a win-win situation for all of us! :D Forgot to add that there’s no official«free» wifi via TRH, but plenty of other nearby wifi networks abound — UMall, Town of Chapel Hill, etc…

After receiving an e-mail about their new location in University Mall, I figured now would be a great time to see what they were all about. And I completely agree with what previous reviewers have said. It’s a great store with great prices on new/gently used items, everything from maternity wear to toys. They also are trying to showcase locally produced items, some of that stuff runs on the more expensive side, but I really appreciate their effort in helping out the local economy. They had a decently sized maternity wear section, and I was able to find a cute top for only $ 9. Stock varies depending on what is coming and going, but they had pjs, bras(new), and even business wear, in addition to the more day to day clothes. The staff is super helpful and the store is just a great resource for moms and mom-to-bes! Definitely check out their website for all they have to offer.

I guess this review will be letting the proverbial cat out of the bag… oh well! We came here a few weeks ago to browse the selection of gently-used baby toys, clothes, furniture, slings, and strollers. I was pleasantly surprised by the vast selection of items offered, all in great condition, arranged neatly, and offered at a fraction of the price in retail stores. They had large racks of cute baby outfits offered, sorted by gender, size and even season, including adorable Hallowe’en costumes. In addition, there were carseats and strollers in good condition, organic/cloth diapers, Ergo baby slings both new and used, and loads of toys and books for sale. For moms-to-be, they sell maternity clothing, pregnancy books, natural locally-made soaps and lotions, and other useful items. I bought a brand-name body pillow for $ 17 that I spotted yesterday selling for $ 48 in Babies ‘R Us… they were the exact same item, model and colour. We will definitely be making regular trips back to check out the merchandise in preparation for baby!

This nifty little boutique for Moms and children is filled with all kind of goodies. This is a resale shop for those who want to buy maternity clothes, booties, baby nighties, toys, toddler clothing and the like; as well as; those who want to sell those items to the store for extra cash. Either way its a great deal. You get barely used or very well maintained items at a low cost.
