Nice property. A little hard to find if not familiar with area. Good for a brew and appetizers.

This review is based on the conversation I had over the phone with Jacob. I called regarding a horrific incident that happened with my mother in front of CAMC on Morris Street. I asked if they had any cameras pointing towards the road as the man who viciously attacked my mother had ran in that direction. They did not but Jacob was so kind and showed much concern for my mother. He took my name and number down and offered to help by even calling the people he knew at the Power Park next door. After hanging up with him, he must have spoken with his mother who I assume is the owner. She called me back immediately and said that even though they didn’t have cameras out front, the landlords did have some on the parking lot and offered to go over footage just to make sure. I cannot tell you how much this means to me. I live in NYC now and only visit a handful of times a year but they have gained a customer in me solely based on the way they’ve treated me over the phone. I cannot thank them enough for taking the time and showing such great concern for the people of Charleston. It is greatly and truly appreciated!

Excellent beer selection. The décor and atmosphere was great. Everything I tried(ribeye, fried green tomatoes Napoleon, caprese salad, lobster bisque) was wonderfully prepared. The wait staff was courteous, attentive, and accommodating.

I am shocked by these reviews. We just finished several courses with excellent service. I ordered two dangerous things: out of season tomatoes and seafood. The fried green tomatoes were awesome. The caprese salad as great. The seafood linguini was awesome. The beer selection was great. I usually agree with Unilocal, but really people, try it again.

Great place to meet up with friends. The pimento cheese burger is awesome! The bartender, Drew, is phenomenal! I’ve never had a negative experience at this restaurant. Will return again.

New Chef, new restaurant. This spot was simply not good when it opened. However, it recently changed its chef so the menu is completely different and food is MUCH better. The fried green tomato with filet appetizer was excellent, and I don’t like tomatoes, or Palmento cheese. But somehow the flavors together were very impressive. Highly recommended — even for those that don’t like Palmento cheese. Just try it, trust me. New menu also has great options for those not wanting to spend $ 40 on a steak and offers half size side dishes for $ 4 – 5. All very worth the price. Basic dishes range from $ 14 – 30. Service is very good, wine list ample for this spot that focuses more on quality craft beers than wines. Bottom line — TRYITAGAIN — for the first time. It’s a completely different food experience.

Nice quiet atmosphere and plenty of parking. The food was great. My husband and I really liked it. We started off with an appetizer fried green tomatoes with a petite filet mignon that was really delicious and cooked to perfection. I really like the choices of menu selections. Somewhere different for this area of Charleston. I had one of the best shrimp and grits ever and a generous portion which is a featured item. My husband had a pork chop with garlic mash potatoes. We will certainly be back as regular customers!

Bricks and Barrels is a lovely restaurant with a great menu. Southern style with an amazing food, drinks and staff. Whitney was our server and we couldn’t have asked for better service! The charcuterie plate is excellent with a southern ham that is to die for. The shrimp and grits remind me of the best offered in the other Charleston down south. Magnolias and Middleton Place come to mind as you eat it. I highly recommend Bricks and Barrels and we can’t wait to return.

This is my favorite fine dining experience I’ve had in Charleston. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday in December, and the décor and table setup of this place is approachable and classy, which is perfect for us. We had the fried green tomato Napoleon, and it was delicious. Our dinners were very well prepared, and the portions were appropriately generous. I had a steak, and our waiter made sure it was cooked to my liking. We also had some of the craft beers, and they were generous servings. We were going to pass on dessert, but our waiter did his job well and convinced us to try the cookie trio. We had no regrets; those cookies were fabulous! The little skillets they are served in are adorable, and the cookies were perfect. This restaurant is great; it’s fine dining without the pretentiousness, and I think it’s a great choice for young people who want a fancy dinner without the stuffy atmosphere.

Wow, these reviews seem unnecessarily harsh. It wasn’t the most amazing experience of my life, but yikes! The drinks were delicious though expensive and the food was good. The sauces are delicious and I love the option of choosing your own sauce. The food selection was impressive and we didn’t have to wait especially long at all, though it was pretty pricey. The meals were reasonably priced but the salads and sides seemed over priced. The atmosphere is lovely and our service was fine. Honestly, it didn’t blow my socks off, but we desperately need more high-end restaurants to expand both the palate and atmosphere of the city. We wouldn’t go once a week but will return!

Beautiful atmosphere, great selection of beer and wines. The food was great and the service was great till the end. We had a party of 11 people with each separate checks. Checks came and were missed up. Then the second and the third time still missed up at this point it has an over an hour patiently waiting for our checks. We asked for a manger and sadly no one was there to assist us. By this point we are getting frustrated. We’ve been one hour thirty minutes waiting for the correct check. The restaurant was not even busy. I understand mistakes happen, but that was just a little ridiculous.

I had a bad experience when the place first opened then decided to give it another try. I think this place is great for appetizers and drinks but would not recommend dinner. Positives: cool atmosphere, great selection of wine and beer. Negatives: both times I visited I had undercooked meat. The first time I had veal and sent it back, they then scorched it and the rest of my sides on the plate. The second time I had salmon and as soon as I cut it open and looked up, the waiter asked if it was too raw(apparently this is a recurring problem). He said they usually cook it «medium». After two go arounds he asked me if I wanted it «cooked all the way through». He did not apologize once for undercooked salmon. I really wanted to love this restaurant, but I won’t be returning for a meal.

Came here for dinner with my wife and another couple a week ago. I truly wanted to like this place, but even before coming I was a bit fearful since I had read some of the Unilocal reviews. Regardless, I came that evening open to the experience and tried my hardest to find things that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, there’s just no way I could give this place anything above 2 stars. To start, the location is pretty nice. Easy parking with a dedicated lot. Décor is fantastic and was easily my favorite thing about the restaurant. As far as food goes, the risotto was very good and my wife really enjoyed her burger, but it was pretty much all downhill from there. I ordered the mediterranean chicken, which was okay, but a bit on the sweeter side with no contrasting savory elements. We also had the brussel sprouts, which were tasteless pieces of mush, the worst sprouts I’ve ever had. I also ordered the jumbo shrimp as an appetizer. For $ 18, we received two overcooked, rubbery shrimp with some mediocre crab on top. We ordered the crème brûlée for dessert, which was described as «salted caramel», but was more like a bowl full of torched caramel… did not resemble crème brûlée in the slightest. It’s possible there are other items on the menu that are out of this world delicious, but unfortunately we had none of them that evening. However, the food itself isn’t even my largest complaint. It’s the fact that I left there feeling completely ripped off and sold a lie. This place is quite obviously billing itself as a fine dining establishment and is easily in the top 3 most expensive restaurants in Charleston, yet it completely fails to deliver in every single regard. Food quality, food selection, service… every one of these fell drastically short of what I expect when I go out to dinner and end up spending $ 140 for two people. They have set the bar so high for themselves that I can’t possibly imagine how this place will succeed once the newness wears off, unless they make drastic changes to the menu and reduce their ridiculously high prices. I have no desire to come back here and if you’re reading this asking whether or not you should, you’d be better suited to spend your money elsewhere, as there’s no way you’re going to get what you’re paying for here.

I’ll start with what I liked. The atmosphere was by far the best part of this experience. The large«barrel» rooms offer the feel of private dining which I really enjoyed. The cocktails we had we’re very well made and priced as expected. The wine list is very nice and they have a large selection of beer. I Had the pimiento burger and it was delicious but a bit thin. Good cook on the burger(medium) and a wonderful bun. We also had the risotto and found it to be above average and delicious(by far the best side dish of the night). That was all of the best parts Service was ok. Not the best service but also not the worst. We ordered cocktails and appetizers promptly but had to wait 15 – 20 min to order entrees. It also took 20 – 30 min for our deserts to arrive. The server didn’t seem very familiar with the product. When asked where their beef comes from she answered«USDA certified… it’s the best we can get». The wine list was large and not organized by region so I asked our server if they had and Spanish Reds or Garnacha wines. She had no idea and didn’t offer to ask then proceeded to suggest wines NOTHING like the ones i had asked about. Again the overall service was ok but for«fine dining»(which i think is their aim) it was not up to par. as for the rest… We tried 3 sides, brussel sprouts, 5 cheese macaroni, and parmesan risotto. Each costing $ 9-$ 12. The risotto was great, the mac-n-cheese was fine, but the brussel sprouts… i’m 90% sure they were frozen. they were mushy and bitter. Easily the worst brussel sprouts i have ever had. The Chips that came with the burger were burned and the fries were just frozen fries. We also had 2 deserts that were less than satisfactory. The waitress sold us on a «chocolate brick» which she described as «from France» and«very fancy». When the desert finally arrived we were presented a large tower of molded chocolate over a crème/custard substance(tasted like Cadbury egg filling) surrounded by blue berries and strawberries. they then poured hot chocolate(the drink) over the«brick» causing it to melt thus leaving the plate looking… well… disgusting. Just imagine melted clumps of chocolate with a white custard, surrounded by berries swimming in chocolate milk. EVERYTHING is extremely over priced and the ala carte menu doesn’t help. I hate to complain about the price but in this case it plays a big part. I feel that if your menu is priced like Bricks & Barrels then you are setting certain expectations. Noah’s is a local restaurant that does this beautifully. The prices at Noah’s perfectly reflect the quality of food and service you receive. Bricks & Barrels would need to cut prices 50% to accomplish that. $ 17 for TWO beef filet medallions(2 oz tops) over a tomato? $ 18 for TWO shrimp? I am happy to pay any amount for a great meal but I left Bricks & Barrels feeling ripped off. The overall problem here is they are trying to provide«fine dining» and are failing. They set the bar by creating the menu and pricing it as such but fail to provide any thing adequate enough to meet that standard. I feel they would have a better chance of success if they would reboot with an upscale bar menu with burgers, sandwiches, Tapas, a few entrees and keep the bar selections and great atmosphere. THAT would be a restaurant I would go back to often but I will never return to the current Bricks & Barrels.

I like this place. Nice atmosphere and a great bar with a fantastic happy hour special. Very good craft beer selection and a decent whisky line up. Also, they have the first Randall beer infuser in the area, making for some nice, unique beer experiences. I’ve always found the staff to be friendly and efficient. I respectfully disagree with other reviews to the contrary. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve always been serviced in a professional manner(which is my passive-aggressive way of saying«It’s probably you.») Overall, high food prices aside, it’s a fine addition to the local culinary scene. Worth a visit or two.

Really 4.5 but Unilocal doesn’t do halfs and only because a 5 is the most awesome meal I will ever have, this was close. I had the lamb chomps and they were prepared perfectly and when I asked if they recommended any sauce they sent a peppercorn demi-glase that was perfect. My wife had the scallops, 4 which seems small to me but she couldn’t finish and they were the most tender scallops I’ve ever had. Ambiance is perfect, reclaimed wood, oak barrels and their almost famous barrel booths which are reservable. Come early for great deals on happy hour; $ 4 craft beer pints and they have the only Randal 3.0(device to infuse beer with fruits/peppers/espresso beans/hops) in town and do different infusions daily. They have obviously to me worked out their early growing pains and are making a name for themselves. Kinda pricey but there are value priced items too and it doesn’t have to cost a ton to enjoy and evening here. Oh, and their signature desert… OMG, the chocolate brick… a hollow chocolate block with berries and vanilla cream topped with hot milk chocolate to melt into a plate of awesome.

Wow, visited Charleston for work and stopped on my way to the airport and glad I did. The service was great, the beer selection was extensive and the food(sea bass) was outstanding. I will absolutely be back the next time I am in town!

Our server, the wine and salad were great! Unfortunately, the food I paid high end for was nothing but seasoned salt as were the Brussel sprouts. I am born and raised in Charleston and I don’t like writing a negative review about a new Spotlighted Restaurant. Hopefully, the owner hires a new chef and those on the grill, whose skill in cooking reflects the price the consumer pays for a plate

I can tell that the owners and wait staff are working very hard to make this restaurant a success, so I feel bad leaving a negative review, but the food simply does not justify the prices. The facility and décor are great and we had very good service. I am totally fine with paying 40 for a really good entrée at other restaurants, when the food is excellent. With the exception of the Mediterranean Chicken, the entrees that we ordered were really bland and I could have done a better job cooking them myself. At this point, the restaurant just has no business charging these prices for the quality of food. I really hope that the owners will see the numerous reviews on this point and perhaps consider a lower priced menu that is not a la carte style, until they have a chance to fine tune their recipes. I really love the concept that the owners have and I really hope they change things up a bit so that this place can succeed in Charleston.

Excellent new place in Charleston where there are not a lot of great restaurants. A few but not what we’re used to being from a bigger city. Had read about this Spot opening a few weeks ago in the newspaper and was happy to have an opportunity to try it for dinner on a Wednesday night. Pretty good crowd, nice renovation of an old warehouse, and the food we had was really quite good. Crab Louis, chopped salad and Mediterranean chicken over cous cous were all delicious, no complaints whatsoever. Even bread was good(only given on request). Servers were nice, though perhaps a touch slow. Entrees a little pricy. Nice wine and beer list. Hope they succeed and stay around!
