Closed for business is one of this good to places, where you meet a bunch a friends and just relax over a couple of beers. Once you had too much, you just start ordering some food. When you enter COB, you wouldn’t think they have so many different beers on tap. I didn’t even realize they have so many taps. What’s even crazier, is you can have small(10 oz), medium 16 oz) or immense(32 oz) pours. All the beers on the menu are well divided on their genre and location. Some of them, are even available in flight for those who want to try different kinds of awesomeness. The food is your typical bar food that you can’t go wrong with but they take it to an extra level. Whether it’s potato wedges or their famous pork slap, everything will still your hunger as no other. The interior is nice and cosy with couches in front of a fake fireplace and big tables in the front of the venue. I’m not a big fan of the dining room area in the back as the seats are very uncomfortable and cold but as long as you stay at the bar, you’ll be getting enough action to spend a night

Such a fantastic beer selection! My uncle was visiting from out of town and we were walking around downtown and sort of stumbled upon this place. service was spotty so we only stayed for one, but they really have everything you could ever want from a beer and I really appreciate that. I get bummed out by weird service when the bar isn’t even busy though…

Giving this 3 stars for the cool atmosphere and decent service, but if I was judging based on food, I’d give it 2. Fries tasted stale and old. Burger was ok, but dry. Asked for some blue cheese dressing and got charged .50 for it. My husband and I ordered a burger, a sandwich, and 2 beers and the bill was over $ 40, not including tip. Won’t be coming back here.

This place is great. I’ve had the fried chicken sandwich a couple of times and it didn’t disappoint. They have a good beer selection and its reasonably priced. The service was slow on both occasions, but overall a good experience.

Potato skins… boring, staple, something to fill your gut, right? No. These are simply amazing.

For my money the best beer selection in town! I think they sell liquor and wine there too but I honestly can’t remember seeing anyone drinking anything but beer. The food is really good – mix of typical greasy bar food and riffs on typical greasy bar food – perfect for pairing with the beer selection. It’s not a huge space though and it gets PACKED on weekend nights by about 9 or so, primarily with hipsters, so if you want to be able to sit and eat, go earlier or be prepared to stand around and snipe tables from people leaving. Still, best bar for craft beer in Charleston.

I thought the food was just ok. I thought that that the service was stand off ish. Not really friendly and didn’t really recommend anything. Got the clams and didn’t read the description. I think that they could have held their own and do without the fries. Also had the fish and chips. Good fish nice and flakey, but did not like the sauce with it. Maybe this place is just not my place. However, if you like beer you better get in there.

The rave reviews are completely true. This place does amazing pork! The pork slap is a winner. It’s the pickled fried green tomato that makes it special. The cheese dip with sausage is some of the best queso we’ve had. Good fries. Good beer. And, honestly, the place looks way more high end than its prices suggest.

My husband and I ate here for the first time with a group of Unilocal friends. Their beer selection is pretty amazing. My husband got a liter of Reissdorf Kolsch and really enjoyed it. I had the Beer Battered Fish and Chips which was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and the fries were fantastic. Our waiter(I lost my receipt but I think his name was James) was great as was the whole vibe of the place. I’m dying to go back to try the poutine which was a college staple for me when I lived in Canada.

Cant say enough good things about this place. I am in charleston visiting and i came across this place while looking on google maps for a place to grab a late night bite and few beers. The vibe here is great. Super laid back. Playing alt rock music. Some intetesting and quirky decorations and paintings on the wall. Big beer menu laid out by type and very good prices 10 oz to 1 liter. Apps and sandwich memu mostly. I had the pork slap sandwich. Fried pork cutlet with beer braised pulled pork pickled green tomatoes and mustard seeds on brioche bun with swiss. Sooo good, combo of flavors. One of the best sandwiches ive had. Especially from a beer bar. Our server was fantastic. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. She helped my gf try and find beers to try. Very patient and helpful. Awesome place. Good beer great food and service. When im back in town ill check it out again for sure.

Loved this spot. Great atmosphere, great vibe. Here on Monday night. The place was packed. We sat at the large community table at the door. No windows so we had the nice warm breeze from the street. Their was 10 of us service was efficient. Selection of beers really impressed my company. I’m not a beer person. The did have a small selection of liquor store mainly whiskeys. It was great here. I really enjoyed it & will be back.

Great stop for inexpensive fast bar type food. We always sit at the same booth by chance and have grilled cheese, burgers and Chicago dog. Good stuff

This is a pretty swell place featuring hearty, delicious burgers & sandwiches — and personally, I’d go with the twice-baked very-cheesy potato as a side over the fries. :3 There are plenty of craft beers on tap — something for everyone really, anything from an ale to a stout, light, dark, $ 3, $ 15. Any of the chicken sandwiches and the veggie burger have the seal of approval! Inside is really warm: a lot of wood and a lot of decoration. I’m big on décor and ambiance and this place is a winner. Lights, wall decorations, the mix of bar & table seating, plus a community table up front and some club chairs by a faux fireplace! Very inviting… and killer alt-rock tunes being played.

I am writing this review solely on one thing. The PORKSLAP sandwich. It was seriously one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had the pleasure of molesting into my mouth. Doooo it.

After trying 2 different restaurants that were closed, one due to renovations and one is closed on Monday, we were starving and decided to give this place a try. As a vegetarian I was disappointed there was really only one option besides a salad but it was a delicious. I was very happy with my meal. My bother and dad both enjoyed their burgers. They said they were fantastic. The we ordered the onion rings as an appetizer since apparently you can’t substitute fries for onion rings with your meal. We weren’t happy about that but wanted onion rings with it. They were expensive and nothing special. The beer selection is great although it’s pretty dark in the restaurant.

Very cool spot in a great part of town. Excellent craft beer list, fantastic food, great vibe. Three words: Pork Slap Sandwich! Also one of the few bars that is open before 5PM in this area.

Fun atmosphere to sit at the bar and enjoy a few drinks. Staff is nice and knowledgeable on beer selections. Cool environment in general. As far as good goes, better than I expected! I ordered the chicken sandwich which was phenomenal. The twice baked potato wasn’t my favorite but that’s just me.

So I didn’t actually end up at Closed For Business, but here’s the story: 5 of us walk in, along with a 1 year old in a stroller — exactly 2 of the tables are in use at the restaurant. When we see the first staff member, and ask about seating, the response is «if you have kids, you have to sit in the back.» A bit odd, so I assumed it was a joke, and laughed. His response: «I don’t get paid enough to make jokes.» We pick a booth in the back, and the same gentleman comes back around to note, «make sure that stroller stays out of the way when I need to walk by.» Quickly made the decision to exit and pick another spot for lunch & drinks. Have heard nothing but good things about the food & beer selection, but the service alone in a 5 min period has turned me off from this place.
