Cute, quaint little place! I got a caesar salad and the Materassi pizza, both were VERY good! No complaints about the meal or service. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because there was little flexibility with ordering. I originally asked for just a plain house salad and was told they didn’t really have one and they couldn’t just throw something together. Which is odd because all I wanted was lettuce, dressing and croutons but okay. So we went with the caesar. Then when we ordered the pizza, they said they couldn’t do a topping on just half of the pizza. Again, odd but the waitress was accommodating and put the topping on the side for me. The waitress even said«our kitchen is kind of strict.» Well I’m not sure their reasoning for it but the ‘strictness’ loses a star in my book.

This trendy pizza place in the center of King Street had great ambience and a trendy upscale feel. We tried a vegetable pizza with mushrooms, peppers, goat cheese, and onions. The staff was a bit snobby when we simply requested an extra plate. Regardless, the cool vibes of the restaurant and delicious food made up for the lack of service.

This place has delicious pizza, and a great ambiance. The wait staff are cordial, but not overly friendly. They seemed to stand around looking over the tables, but not really smiling too much. I would give the place 5 stars if it wasn’t for the aloofness of the staff, because Monza is beautiful inside and the pizza was great. The décor itself is urban in style, with a bit of a nostalgic feeling mixed in where it feels like a speakeasy-style bourbon bar. They do have a bar, although I don’t know if they serve bourbon. They might. ;) If they had a piano in the place I think it would add to the ambiance and fun, especially if they had a pianist playing on occasion.

We ate at Monza on a Friday night, arrived around 6 pm and were seated immediately! We ordered the sausage and peppers for an appetizer and pizza for dinner — both were amazing! Although the pasta at the table next to ours looked delicious too! Great ambience as well, they were playing nice music and we really enjoyed it.

Great pizza and pasta — prices seem to be on par for King Street. I’ve had takeout and I’ve also eaten in. The pizza is great; it’s large and you can definitely share with someone else. I ordered the carbonara while eating in, and it was very rich. I couldn’t finish it all. I also felt that the seating was a little cramped and the ambiance could be stepped up a notch or two. Also, my friend wanted to add an ingredient(zucchini) to her pizza but was told she couldn’t because it was only to be used for the night’s special pizza. Thought that was odd. There are tons of gourmet pizza places popping up all around town, so I’m not sure how often this will be in the rotation.

Surprisingly-delicious pasta, pizzas worth writing home about, friendly service, a nice atmosphere… and there’s a Ferrari engine hanging from the ceiling. My friends and I, along with their two younger kids(aged 5&2) caught lunch here, and everyone loved the food. While they don’t have a dedicated children’s menu, it’s one of the fewer places in town that is actually kid-friendly(at least during lunch… it may be a different atmosphere during dinner hours). Regardless, places like this are one of the many, many reasons I absolutely love the city of Charleston. I will make it a point to eat here again next time I’m in town.

Really great pizza & I’m from NY/NJ! Wish they offered more veggie based pastas though(looked delish otherwise– cooked fresh!) outdoor dining nice but nothing special. Trying some salads next time!

Great pizza and even better pasta. It’s a certain kind of pizza, you know it– thin yet doughy crust, lightly topped and kinda small and expensive if you grew up in the Pizza Hut generation. But delicious! Really fresh ingredients and it’s tasty as hell. The pasta though– whoa, sleeper surprise! We got the lasagna last time and nearly fought over who’s get more bites. I don’t even like meat that much and it was amazing. Really good deal too at $ 14. Their salads are usually interesting too. I’ve had one or two misses, but they are usually very tasty with unique ingredients and lots of colors and textures. The only reason I’m giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their hidden pricing on specials. Its annoying that they don’t put it on the menu. My friends and I went recently and my friends ordered the soft shell crab appetizer. The other apps were priced somewhere between $ 6-$ 14 dollars so they didn’t really think to ask before ordering. They also didn’t ever think it would be $ 30 for the freaking crab. It was tiny and that CRAZY expensive. They said it was tasty, but I feel that if a restaurant is going to double the price of something in a category from their menu, they should let you know up front about it.

Absolutely remarkable! Had the summer bean sales as an appetizer and it was delicious. Ronnie Peterson pizza was outstanding– crust was perfect and one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Wife had the penne with vodka sauce and it was rich, not too creamy and quite full of flavor. Service was spot on. Overall a great Charleston meal!

I guess if you have had good Neapolitan pizza, you cannot go here. This pizza is nothing like real Neapolitan pizza. The crust is crispy and made from some kind of dough that is closer to Domino’s than what you will find in Italy. However, if you want expensive Domino’s pizza, go for it. My wife had carbonara. Same deal. If you want crap, go here. An Italian would throw this in the trash.

Lovely pizza place in the center of King Street. Had the chopped salad and the Faggio pizza(spicy sausage, jalapeño & mozzarella). The dough was crisp and made to order, very Italian style hospitality. Definitely recommend!

Went to Monza with my husband on a busy Saturday, well let’s just preface I’m spoiled about pizza being born in italy and living close to many many pizza restaurants big and small… Our waitress was very attentive but it took more than 45 minutes to get our pizza(I noticed at least 8 people working the pizza oven!!!) how many hipsters does it take to make one pie? Pizza came out disappointed since it had no sauce no flavor to speak of and dough was lackluster! So no I won’t go back to Monza!

I always forget about Monza, but whenever I go I love it. A friend of mine has curated what I think is the perfect order: sausage and peppers appetizer, chicken milanese salad, and the fangio pizza(of course you need at least a couple of people to eat all of this). I love all their salads and have been impressed by their pastas, too. Nice little patio in the back as well!

This lasagna was dense and delicious! I think the reason this place produces great Italian is you can taste the fresh ingredients. The sauce around this densely built mound of cheese and creamy pasta taste like garden tomatoes were freshly crushed in to a perfect mix of seasoning. The meat inside the lasagna was slightly spicy, I am thinking a mix of beef and Italian sausage. However the spice from the meet just helped wake up the fresh tasting sauce. I say my at the counter and when they set this sumptuous mound of flavor in front of me I thought«no way am I going to eat the entire thing» I ate all of it! This review was done after my second visit to the restaurant.

Can you say«best Italian pizza around»? How about good Italian food? How about fresh? Well after a few stops at this place, you will. Sit at the bar area and watch them make pizza. I asked the chef how many he made in a day. over 150! I guess they have to get it right. Prices, very reasonable atmosphere, just right. Service with a smile. Try it. Frank G

Came here with my girlfriend on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch before we had to catch a flight back to Jersey. Saw the good reviews and figured i would check it out. Appearance: Had trouble finding the place, the front of the building doesn’t exactly catch your attention. I believe it just has window stickers with the name. Décor: Awesome styling, very casual but very nice. Fits in well with the nice restaurants and preppy look of the area. I love the open kitchen where you can see the pizza oven and the cooks working their magic. It was a gorgeous day so we chose to sit outside in the back yard. They have a small patio out back that is shaded and perfect for small groups. Nice touch. Food: We ordered a pizza and a chicken Caesar salad to split and they were both fantastic. I’m from NJ. I know pizza. It wasn’t the best i ever had, but it was the best I’ve had in some time. Very nice surprise… Let me tell you about the chicken Caesar salad though. I could eat this dish everyday. That chicken was some of the best breaded and fried chicken I’ve ever tasted in a salad. It was perfect. I highly suggest getting this dish. Mind you I’m a very plain person who doesn’t like flavor, but if you’re in the mood for a chicken Caesar salad or just not feeling too hot and need something that wont destroy your stomach. Best chicken Caesar salad I’ve had in my life. Boom. Reasonably priced. Clean. Good service. Great food.

Yo! I love pizza. Being from New York, I know my pizza. With that being said, I wouldn’t really compare this place to New York pizza. I stopped by Monza and to my pleasant surprise, I found a gem. I love everything about this place. The atmosphere was great. The ambience was nice. I’m feeling it. Let’s eat some food! For my entrée, I ordered the Ronnie Peterson. Immediately after one bite, my taste buds went from 0 to 100 real quick. The freshness of the ingredients was off the charts. The tastiness of the arugula pesto made me savor every bite. The chicken was cooked just right. The garlic and ricotta kicked in after a couple bites. Then the best part of the pizza, the mozzarella! Ain’t no pizza good, if you don’t get that stretchy mozzarella after a bite! The waitress gave me some Parmesan cheese on the side too. With all that combined, this pizza was delicious! My wife ordered the lasagna. This lasagna was so good. I was very impressed by it. The sauce was awesome, it tasted like it had wine in it. I’m not sure if it did or not, but my taste buds said it did. One of the TOP lasagna dishes I’ve ever had, second to my wife of course. We ended the night with some tiramisu. The cake was sponge like. A perfect vessel for the absorption of the coffee. The cake had a great coffee flavor throughout. It was like biting into a cloud made of coffee. I recommend everyone to stop by and check these guys out.

I’m really digging the décor of this place. They have exposed brick and some really interesting light fixtures. I had the Lasagna of The Day and I must say it was delicious! They were serving a sausage lasagna. The sausage had a nice heat and the sauce was very flavorful. I felt that the flavor of the sauce balanced out the heat of the meat very well. Although, I did taste a hint of wine, I don’t think the alcohol cooked out all the way. The pasta tasted really fresh. I asked if they make their own pasta and they told me they get it from Bertolini’s, which is a local supplier of fresh cut pasta. I’ve actually purchased from them before at the Summerville Farmer’s Market. So, needless to say I am a fan of the pasta. Final Thoughts: The service was friendly, the prices are comparable to other places downtown and the food scores a 10 on the yummy scale!

The ambience here is nice which always wins points in my book but my food was meh. I went with a group of friends and they shared pizzas they loved but they’re not writing this review. One friend and I each got pasta — mine being the vodka penne. I saw another table with a Caesar salad and decided to order that as well as it looked great. I was a little cranky because $ 14 for a lunch pasta is steep in my opinion to not come with a salad and $ 8 for a side Caesar is really steep. Also, I got a coke with came in tiny glass bottles — for $ 2.50 each! My Caesar was however very good, I wish I had just gotten the large portion as my meal. My pasta order did not get put in and came late to the table, boo! For $ 14 it wasn’t a large portion, that’s fine it’s lunch but it’s pasta, sauce and a few bits of mozerella — that’s overcharging IMO, also it was not very good. It really didn’t taste that different than a tomato sauce, not at all the rich flavor of a vodka sauce. I left spending over $ 30 with tip feeling unsatisfied. Salad is 4 stars but the pasta is 2. Seriously y’all, get the pizza.

Cool place with nice backyard. They have great cocktails(we had Limoncello cocktails). The food is pretty average I would say. Pizzas are quite small. The salad I had was good but really nothing special. Service is very good.
