Hands down one of the best restaurants in charleston. You won’t find a better beer selection.

We made a reservation on a Wednesday night, and it turned out to be a good idea. It was pretty packed shortly after we arrived. If you’re a beer drinker(or really even if you’re not), get the peanut butter and jelly beer. It tastes JUST like a liquid form of the classic sandwich, which is surprisingly pleasant. The menu is pretty limited, but everything sounds awesome so we started with the cured charcuterie board(they also have a fresh version), which did not disappoint, and for our meal, we got a few of the«appetizer» dishes(they also have a snack menu, but we skipped those dishes this time). The meats were delicious and served with fresh bread, a delicious spicy mustard, sliced apples and a few cubes of excellent cheddar cheese. We chose the beef tartare, the crispy onions with lamb ragu, and chicken and Carolina rice porridge as our appetizers. It was definitely enough food for two people, especially after the charcuterie board. Everything was delicious. The beef tartare was seasoned to perfection, and the egg yolk on top was a nice touch. The porridge was also good. It was topped with pickled mushrooms and very fresh crab meat… an interesting combination but it really worked well together. My favorite was the onions with lamb ragu. It was spicy and delicious. I wasn’t a huge fan of the croutons on top, but the onions were cooked nicely. I think I could eat that lamb ragu by the gallon! We will definitely be back to test the rest of the menu and for more PB&J beer!

I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday, but I’m already looking for a new excuse to go again. Everything was absolutely amazing. I’m so glad I’m made the reservations because the place seemed so popular I’m not even sure if walk-ins are an option. We had the goat, sheep, cow cheese plate and the tastes complimented each other so well with the savory cheeses and sweet apple butter. My husband usually won’t even eat blue cheese, but this one was so mild and creamy, even he enjoyed it. I had the fresh ricotta(because I obviously hadn’t had enough cheese) and it was dream worthy. It was between that and the beets and I know I chose wisely. The side of broccoli was also cooked to perfection. My husband had the hangar steak, which was absolutely beautiful and he said it tasted as good as it looked. The citrus layer cake was the perfect way to end the night, with the tangy grapefruit flavor keeping it from being overly sweet. Outside of the food, the drinks were amazing, as well. I had the peanut butter & jelly beer and I couldn’t believe how much it tasted like its namesake. They were out of the double PB&J that night, but again, I’m looking for my excuse to go back.

Absolutely improved fresh, locally sourced and on site made dishes created by the talented Reid Henninger. The daily specials, charcuterie and chicken dinner are not to be missed. Everyone in the family will find a dish they will love! Not to mention the fab selection of beers and wine. Definitely worth the reservation and don’t forget Sunday brunch!

One of my favorites! Although they change their menu pretty often, you can always count on the housemade ricotta, any charcuterie board, the meatballs when they have them, and just about any fish preparation. The PB&J beer is amazing, too, and totally unique. Make sure to save room for dessert as well, because it’s on a different level than most restaurant desserts in Charleston.

Edmunds Oast never disappoints! Last night our group of 6 dined to celebrate their anniversary with select dishes at half off. The funny thing was that I didn’t even choose any that were discounted! Their ricotta and charred broccoli is hands down the best appetizer in the city! I get it every time I visit. I also usually get the pickled shrimp toast but saw a burger fly by and decided I had to give it a try! The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. I also love anything with a cracked egg. The fries were ok and I ended up not eating them(but with 3 guys at the table they happily finished them) Other dishes at the table included their meat and cheese plate which looked so large and plentiful as well as the beef tartar, pickled shrimp, vegetable dish and more burgers. Everyone said that their dishes were really good. We did enjoy the half priced wine and shared a funfetti slice of cake to celebrate their big day(they even made the sprinkles!) I love dining here because the food is always spot on and so many of their items are made in Josie. My husband loves the peanut butter and jelly beer, even though I’m not a huge beer drinker I have to say this beer is awesome! It’s a little bit pricy for a normal night out so we tend to save it for special occasions.

Shared the charcuterie plates, pickled shrimp, and cornbread. Impressed by all, but the pickled shrimp was the standout. The Edmunds stout was very enjoyable, as was The a Red Wedding cocktail. Service was friendly and quick, even on a Friday night.

The only thing that saved the meal was the pickled shrimp. It was delicious and the only the thing was wasn’t inedible to due to an enormous amount of salt. I couldn’t even take another bite of my meal. We had steak tartare as well as three other appetizers. I asked for more bread in which our very intense, un-smiling red-headed waitress replied unhappily that she’d be charging us for it. Two pieces of rye toast to finish our tartare cost us $ 3!!! So for spending $ 250 on dinner we got an added $ 3 for bread… Now that my friend is ludicrous! The very next night I had an A+++ meal with the nicest waitress at THEORDINARY. I highly recommend the ORDINARY.

You only need to know five words before coming here. Peanut Butter and Jelly Beer. My review is only for atmosphere, service, drinks, and dessert. I have yet to try their dinner yet, but I will definitely be back! We’ve been here twice now for drinks with friends, once for an after-dinner birthday bash and once for a farewell party. Both times the place was busy but we still found seating. The first time we sat inside at a table and enjoyed a few of their beers(PB&J, some kind of Sour Cherry) and their citrus cake — it was so good I immediately went home and began figuring out how to recreate it at home! The second time they were slammed so we sat outside. It took a while to get drinks from the bar, but they were still just as great. The PB&J beer is a trip and their moscow mule(while not served in a copper mug) is yummy! Both times the staff were courteous! I can’t want to come back for a dinner date — it has the perfect atmosphere that works for everything — dates, girls night, work parties… everything!

Found this place through a friend, and I owe them for thier recommendation. For starters, the BESTPB&J beer that exists. Sounds funny, tastes delicious. The food was a welcome change to the norm. Tried the gin house jerky with my beer, then ordered something similar to rabbit pâté. Finished up with the steak tartare. Both were great suprizes. The tartare was some of the best I’ve ever tried. Blue cheese was a nice touch. Went back again for the beer and tartare two days later, and tried the hash crown during happy hour. Another fantastic suprize. We’ll done to the folks that brought the Oast into being. Congratulations.

I’m a huge fan of this place. I’ve had both dinner and brunch here and have enjoyed both menus. The service is always friendly and knowledgable. And there’s a well rounded drink menu. I love the outdoor area which is perfect for grabbing a drink on a nice day. I believe it’s a dog friendly patio too, but don’t quote me on that. Everything I’ve eaten here has been phenomenal. All though I do recall order the swordfish at one time that wasn’t my favorite, but I think that’s just because I’m not a huge fan of smoked fish in general. So I won’t hold that against them as my husband ate it for me and he seemed to like it. Also– my tip to you is order the corn bread! It’s so good! This place is probably in my top ten favorite places in Charleston. We will be back again and again.

After appetizers at 167 Raw, we made our way to Edmund’s Oast for more food sampling. They have an amazing beer selection and I chose the peanut butter/jelly beer because a local sitting at the bar was raving about it. It was really good. On to the food… We shared random food at Edmunds as follows: 1. The cornbread + butter. Weird choice to just order a hunk of cornbread for $ 4 but Unilocal never lets me down. Cornbread was sweet and delicious! 2. Pickled shrimp on Rye — again excellent. I’m thinking pickled shrimp — really? But yeah, it’s great 3. Side of Spaghetti Squash — least fav of my order but still, good. The service and atmosphere were also top notch. Edmund’s Oast is located on the outskirts of downtown Charleston(Morrison turns into East Bay) and most definitely worth a visit.

Five stars do not do my experience justice. Wow!!! I went with the Roasted Chicken recommendation by the server and it was just one of the best chicken dinners you could ask for. The flavors were spot on and was like a holiday in my mouth. I then went with another recommendation from the beer list. I got a bottle of the Hel & Verdoememts 666. I have never spent that much money on a bottle of beer but it was 19 of the best dollars I have ever spent on beer. When you come here don’t be afraid of the prices and just dive into the experiences. It will make the 40hr work week worth it all.

One of the great things about coming home is the opportunity to enjoy great restaurants with my friends. Tonight we visited Edmunds Oast. It was suggested by one friend and based on the reviews and word of mouth, this was good choice. Edmund’s Oast is outside of the downtown area Charleston but just off of I-26 so it’s a convenient location with its own parking lot so you don’t have to deal with the parking struggles of downtown. We made 5:30 reservations which is probably a good idea for spot. When we arrived it was still early so it wasn’t too crowded but it didn’t take long for the place to fill up. Before I forget, I would like to comment about the wait staff. Our waitress, Stacey was awesome. She was very helpful and honest about the menu(this will make sense in a minute). She was well-informed and since this was the first visit for two people in our party, she answered any and all of our questions. Other member of the wait staff were very attentive and constantly checked on us and kept our water glasses filled. Okay, so we ordered cocktails. This place is known for its beer selection but since none of us drink beer I can’t comment on that portion of the menu. One friend and I ordered the New Way to Winter which was described as a lemon drop but with more flavor. I really enjoyed it, very tasty. My other friend was curious about the Trabanco Apple Cider(listed under the wines). Stacey was very honest when she said it’s not like the apple cider we’re used to and more tart than sweet. She said it had a «funky taste» that could be a bit off-putting. My friend tried it and she really liked it. She likes things that are tart so it was right up her ally, but I think we all appreciated Stacey’s frankness about the drink. Next we ordered several appetizers, charcuterie with cured meats, cornbread and pickled veggies. The pickled vegetables were… interesting. They’re good if you’re into pickled foods. The charcuterie was a nice tasty appetizer. I was partial to the pork belly and salami. As for the cornbread, well be prepared to order several of them for the table. The cornbread was outstanding. Finally comes our entrees. I had the pickled shrimp. I’ve read so many reviews about this dish and being the shrimp lover that I am, I had to try it out. Okay, so I don’t think I can describe how it tasted so I won’t try but it was really delicious. It didn’t taste pickled like the veggies and it definitely wasn’t what I expected but it was a pleasant surprise, and the bread and vegetables served with the shrimp really made it all the more tasty. One friend got the Roasted Chicken and another got the Chicken and Caroline Gold Rice Porridge. We all enjoyed our meals. I know I probably should have stopped eating because I really was full after maybe the second bite of pickled shrimp, but I couldn’t stop. It was that good. I did pass on the dessert though(know when to say when, right?). I can always count on local restaurants in Charleston to never let me down and Edmund’s Oast holds true to this. I loved the ambience of the restaurant and that combined with the delicious food and drink made this trip a wonderful dining experience.

So many people have given Edmund’s Oast great reviews that I’m not sure how much more I can contribute here! I really have consistently enjoyed this place. It is a great venue to bring visitors, celebrate occasions, or just come in for no reason at all except it’s «insert day of the week here» and I really want a good beer tonight! I want to do a Pro /Con list here but honestly, I think I only have Pros to share — so let’s try a «highlights include» approach! HIGHLIGHTS — fantastic and comprehensive beer selection — equally impressive but less advertised wine list(I have tried both) — really great bar menu that rivals full dinner menu — REALLY nice and cool bartenders — «On the ball» staff who are aware of what’s going on, making it a really great customer service experience — fantastic atmosphere — love how open, airy and welcoming it is here! The long tables also really promote random mingling — last time I was here, I ended up befriending a HUGE table of girls who were visiting from Boston. We ended up joining them at the table and doing shots together — so much fun! — fair and reasonable management: someone in my party started going overboard and they threw her out. Fair enough but they listed to a few of us explain that we didn’t really know that person directly and we were just there to enjoy ourselves and he really listened to us and let us stay. Would have been easy for him to just kick out the whole lot of us, but he actually took the time to assess the situation and make a good judgment call: that kind of attentiveness is super rare on a busy Sat night! Conclusion: if you haven’t been, go. If you have been, go again. Let’s keep these people in business because they are aweessssommmme!

Edmund’s Oast: the oast with the most. Have a few hundred people stated that yet? I feel no shame about gettin in on that echoing too cause what I’m saying here are are stone cold true facts. As a brew pub with dozens upon dozens of tasty and exciting varieties of beer on tap, a beer lover could not as ask for more. Add to that an exceptionally delicious array of plates big and small for the sharing, excellent ambiance inside and out, and prime service. Pals, what I’m saying is, you should go. Our plans for enjoying dinner and drinks outside, out under the rafter beams and shady trees, out in the lovely low country night air, were totally thwarted by a soul-shakingly severe thunderstorm so intense that it actually somehow triggered the restaurant’s alarm system. Ominous start to an excellent time, right? Inside the oast was definitely the place to be this night. The large and warmly lit space must be capable of seating over one hundred people, I’m guessing. Still, it felt cozy and comfortable too, despite the expanse. Good spot for people watching, I’ll add. And the place was absolutely hoppin on that stormy night. So busy and still our server was so on top of things that it was kind of amazing. So, what I really wanna be screamin about here besides the great beer(I tried nearly every style of olé Edmund’s and wouldn’t turn down a one), is about all the terrific foods we enjoyed. I shouldn’t get too deep into the ramblin, I s’pose, as local, seasonal preparations are the focus… but I still gotta cause it was all that good. So, shout outs: Tuna crudo with puffed Carolina rice, sweet ripe juicy peaches, cucumber, basil… If that sounds like straight up Summer on a plate to you, it should, cause that’s what’s what. Outstanding crudo. Top o the pops. Beast charcuterie board here. The hanging salumi that you can spy through window panes above the buzzing, open kitchen should totally inspire you to make them house cures meats part of the order. The pickled shrimp toast by all accounts is super flavorful and a must-order, a la my rollin’ buddy’s account. You need that cornbread! Now my favorite: Whole crispy fried red snapper sauced with nuoc cham, and a salad green beans, peanuts, thick-cut bacon, and Thai basil. We love, love a whole crispy fish and eat it clean down to the bone, cartoon alley cat style. This perfectly cooked snapper is topped with the umami punch of fish sauce meets smoky bacon, and then there’s the herby freshness of Thai Basil. Come on. It was so good. So if you see something like that happening on the menu, best order it. We need to get back to Charleston for many reasons. I’ll add a return visit to Edmund’s Oast to me list. I’ll add that fish to the list. Because your fish, your fish is on my list… Nobody expected a Hall n Oats song parody here at any point, I bet. And yet it just happened. What if Darryl Hall showed up randomly and started serenading the diners here? That’d be Hall & Oast. That would be the only occurrence that could possibly improve upon the oast wit the most, I reckon.

The Oast continues to impress on a regular basis for me. Now that the weather is cooling down, the Bower is poised to become a top hangout spot for me. Great food, service, and drinks make for a winning combination but throw in the best outdoor bar environment on the peninsula and I’m more than a happy camper.

A great suggestion from a local we met at Holy City brewery. The amazing selection of craft beers was truly impressive, from Saisons to Sours, they got the best of the best. Since we didnt have reservations, we sat at the bar, which is actually our favorite spot. The bar staff was super knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the house cured small charcuterie board, and it was amazing! The spread included coppa, smoked walnuts, aged cheddar, sweet mustard and salami. If you like Olympic Provisions, you’ll appreciate this spread. Ofcourse we had to get the famous pickled shrimp crostini, which was good, but not great as the hyped says. However, we loved their seasonal heirloom tomato salad, your palette will thank you! Super sweet, super juicy, super fresh, giant slices of tomato dressed with blue cheese buttermilk dressing, seriously good eats! I loved this place!

Our last dinner in Charleston was at Edmund’s Oast. It’s hard to say if it was my favorite because it was actually my favorite or because it’s the one I remember most. Either way, it was a great meal at a wonderful restaurant. We had an 8:45 reservation on a Monday night and the place was packed. We were seated at the«chef’s table» which was pretty cool. Their beer, wine, cocktail list was quite long, but I stuck to a glass of wine, while my husband ordered a sparkling pineapple wine. It was kind of like a sour pineapple cider. I thought it was weird, he liked it, so it’s really a matter of personal preference. Our meal started with an amuse-bouche of surryano ham, brie, and other toppings that I can’t remember right now. It was a tasty little bite! We then ordered a bunch of plates to share: Cornbread – perfectly sweet and yummy. I stopped myself from eating it all to save room for the other dishes. Cured charcuterie board – Y.U.M. Such good meats and I loved the spicy mustard. Sugar snap peas – we wanted the tempura fried favas but they were out of those. Our sever suggested the snap peas instead and they were a very good alternate. Great flavor and the peanuts added a nice crunch. Braised meatballs – not usually a fan of lamb, I found these to be delicious and flavorful. Littleneck clams – Probably my least favorite of the dishes. Nothing bad about it, just didn’t taste like anything special. Could have done without. Server was friendly and helpful. Food was brought out at a nice pace, we never felt rushed. The place is quite large and though we didn’t eat outside, it looked like there was a lot of space out there too.

Everyone always has these new years resolutions and life goals to aspire for… not me. I’m making an exception though. My new life goal is to spend more time at Edmund’s Oast. It’s not always on my radar because they don’t open until 4pm(except for Sunday) and they’re on the other side of town. Before this past Sunday, I had only been in one other time and I’m pretty ashamed about that. After Second Sunday, I was looking for somewhere to keep the party going and remembered that Edmund’s recently opened their new addition, The Bower. I had my K9 companion with me in hopes that her hanging in The Bower would be cool with them, and it was. I arrived at a weird time between the outside bar on the verge of closing and the switch over of the«snacks» menu over to dinner. The host was very accommodating and seated us outside(even though they were about to close the outside bar) and had a server come out and take care of us. I offered to put my dog in the car as the weather was fine for that, but they insisted we enjoy the beautiful weather outside with my pup. Due to the circumstances and times I’ve been by, I’ve only sampled from the snacks menu and had beer… of course beer. You can legitimately make a meal of snacks though. Start off with a french fries appetizer… they’re phenomenal fries and the curry sauce on the side is a flavor ridden alternative to ketchup. Your main course ought to be the custard. The corn one was my favorite, but the pumpkin one I had recently was pretty amazing as well. Custard is not something I would normally go for, but they’re absolutely amazing… a must try. For dessert, The cornbread is like a giant piece of savory cake with a sweet butter to spread on top, and on the sides, and in the middle… hell just put butter all over that beast. If having an extraordinary beer selection is a crime, Edmunds Oast is guilty as charged. Not only do they gather some of the most rare beer selections available and offer them on their countless taps, they go above and beyond by brewing their own masterpiece creations. I had the pleasure of getting to know their Viridi Rex a self proclaimed Imperial IPA with huge notes of honeydew, fresh flowers, lime blossom, & mango… an all around winner in my book. I hear they have a great wine list and top notch cocktails, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get a chance to try any of them with the ever changing beer list. The folks from CBX did an amazing job putting this place together. The outside has a grouping of outdoor picnic tables in the sun with the Bower housing about eight more and another seated bar. The bower is covered and has screened walls, but is still completely open air. The interior has a beautiful long bar and I love the beer numbering system. It keeps everything looking clean and still easily discovered. The interior vibe is pretty casual even though the ingredients on the dinner menu are wearing a shirt and tie. Have no fear, at heart, it’s still all about the beer.
